I decided to give this place a second try because my first visit wasn't bad. The food was decent enough, and since it's close to my job, I figured I'd stop by again. When I came in, I was exhausted and overheated from walking in the summer heat. I ordered two pupusas to go because I originally planned to eat lunch at work. After paying, I sat down while waiting for my order because the restaurant was completely empty, cool, and had a nice, relaxing atmosphere. As I cooled down and caught my breath, I decided I'd just eat there instead since I had only ordered two pupusas. When my food was ready, I was told I had to leave because I had ordered it to go. Apparently, if you order takeout, you're not allowed to dine in. I honestly thought it was a joke, so I asked, "Wait, really? That's a thing?" The employee looked at me completely seriously and, without any kindness or understanding, simply said, "Yes. Sorry, you cannot stay." I'm not someone who likes to make a scene, so I just took my food and left. It was disappointing because the restaurant was empty, and I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable--I had simply changed my mind while waiting. That interaction left a bad impression. The food is okay, but I've definitely had better pupusas elsewhere. Between the mediocre food and the unfriendly customer service, I don't plan on coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to others. read more

My last visit was not so great, had the shrimp quesadilla with a side of sour cream and guacamole. It was very wet and fell flat in flavor, the guacamole was also not great in flavors and looked a bit watered down. Tried the mezcal de Jamaica cocktail, it wasn't something I'd during again. I really enjoyed my food here. I came here for a quick lunch (which wasn't quick lol) and ordered a sangria, chicken quesadilla and horchata. The sangria, while was a bit small was really strong. I mean I was surprised how tipsy I was with one drink. The chicken quesadilla is made out of corn tortilla which is different but I enjoyed it. It's not the typical American quesadilla. Ah yes, a classic restaurant in the neighborhood, serving an indistinguishable amalgamation of dishes--possibly too many to keep up with? Indeed too many, to the point they leave ingredients out too long, put them into your food, and give you a light case of mid-autumn food poisoning! Amazing! I think it was the rice and beans in the burrito, but my girlfriend's horrifically bad side salad of tomatoes was a certain threat. Unfortunately, my issues are not mitigated by the absolute lack of flavor the food held in the first place. I would not recommend this restaurant for anything aside from their cappuccino (which might've been from a mix, anyways) and decor (as if that helps anything). Oh and a sangria (second time I only got one bc BABY I still gotta drive home. The food is good. The steak was burnt the first time like was that yesterdays yall? The second time it's wasn't burnt so bad. But the dish as a whole with all the things it comes with I just loved it. Especially the pupusa which is not on the menu. I asked for it and they made it but when I asked again the second young man was like we don't sell that (and then that lady who I was telling you about she snook in between us and said that's not something we offer to everyone but we will make it for you. That's what I'm taking about. Floor me with that buttery, cheese perfection! I can see the place very busy in the night as it is with at least 3 patrons on the inside and 3 couples on the outside at 11:45am. Extremely hot day and stopped by for empanadas and some drinks. We were a party of three, sat outside. We had proper shade and more than enough water to rehydrate. Empanadas were bomb, had several different kinds but the chicken one was the best. That red hot sauce is 10/10 . Several rounds of margaritas for the table, the tamarind one was the best one. I ordered a chicken taco, carne asada taco, bean and cheese pupusas, fully loaded chicken nachos, red sangria, and a piña colada! Now I know what you're thinking ... how could I eat all of this at once... I didn't. I went for lunch and dinner. Everything was sooo delicious!!! So delectable and full of flavor!!! The servers are nice but they skimp you on taco tuesday. The tacos are a dollar off but you need to order a drink/cocktail for the special and the server tells the cooks in spanish (i'm Salvadorian) that the tacos are for the special. In which case they give you half the ingredients for your set. Our first order was inputed by a server who didn't say that and our tacos were hefty. The second order was so light you could roll the tacos into a little taquito. I live in the area but its safe to say i wont be coming back. read more

I got the beef milanesa torta delivered and it was pretty good but they didn't do my order right - I'd asked for it without a few ingredients (mainly lettuce, I've just never been able to get into shredded lettuce on any sandwich, taco, etc.) and they left a ton of lettuce to pick off/I mostly just sucked it up and left some on. Beware... they will apply 15% tip (for 2 people), credit card fee, to your check and then still expect another tip on top of that. What was suppose to be a $35 (before taxes) became a $60. What's worse.. the sales tax was apply to the tip and the credit card fee. If my bf didn't get a copy of the receipt, we wouldn't even realize that they ripped us off. When my bf asked Juan (cashier) about this double tip he basically said, too bad can't reverse. That's bullshit. Service was slow considering we are 1 of the 2 tables there. I'm choosing to give this place three stars because although I found it rather frustrating to order anything off their menu (hardly anything (if nothing) available dairy-free), I'm sure their food is tasty and delicious to those who can eat it all! I noticed it had high reviews on Yelp! and Google, and I'd be willing to update my review w/ more positive stars provided they also cater to other diets. They do not have any alternative milks like almond milk, coconut milk, or soy milk. I was looking forward to a late breakfast w/ coffee, but even the menu items were all made with dairy ingredients. The coffee the lady behind the counter mentioned was merely Colombian coffee, but she didn't know how else to describe it - so I didn't want to take that chance of being disappointed by the brew's flavor. I was practically starving at the time that I was there so I purchased a caloric seltzer from the fridge and that held me until I could make my way to a place with more options for people with certain dietary needs. They also don't have any zero-calorie drinks in the fridge. On a happier note the place was really nice. A simple eatery, clean and with seating available outside. Small and cozy. They have lots of options on the menu. I'm not sure if there was a restroom usable for customers there. I didn't get that far. The kitchen is within view and that looked clean too. This place is wonderful and authentic. Sad to see things like people complaining about lack of dairy-free options or seating.. in Bushwick.. but I guess that's what comes with gentrification. Also, they actually have an amazing outdoor patio and a good amount of seating inside too. They have amazing breakfast specials. Their tacos are really yummy and one of the last few places in New York that charges $3 for a regular street taco. You can tell the workers here know their food, and they'll give you good recommendations of what to order. If you love REAL Mexican food and friendly, Mexican-American environment, you will love this place. If you don't, go back to midtown or Connecticut. read more
