FOOD 1.) fish on orange rice = I don't actually know what it's officially called but it's so damn comforting and tasty. Mmmmmm. Came with like one big piece of brocoli and a carrot slice. Maybe more so for garnish, but pretty yummy itself. The menu is pretty extensive, but kinda confusing at first. But it's ok, I just looked at all the hot food behind the glass to see what I wanted. Next time I think I want to try more of their seafood. And their soupy rice. SERVICE Oh they actually have table service. ATMOSPHERE Nothing crazy, pretty homey feel. Tables are a tad cramped.

I cannot believe that we lived in the area for 6 months before giving Jorge's a try. When you walk in, it appears to be a take-out type place, but I like to wait to be seated for better service and larger portions. The Beef Stew is a serious serving of beef and side dishes for only $7. It is easily enough for two meals. The Chicken Soup is also excellent for those cold days or times when you need some comfort food. I love their milkshakes- the papaya and orange milk are my favorites. The maduro is sliced thin so they are nice and crispy on the edges. Just under the Seneca stop on the M train, you cannot miss this place. It looks like a glowing Latin TGI Fridays. The door says that they take credit cards, but seriously this place is cash only folks.

5 stars in service, 5 stars as a "take out spot", 4 stars for the food (they know tradicional Spanish/Caribbean food well) but the 3 stars is an over all rating due to location- it is a bit of a dungy spot and right under the train tracks.

Rice and beans

Ripped off never again ! This is my second time at this restaurant and the food is okay but if you're going to give me nothing but rice any barely any beans and charge me $10 for it . I'll take my money elsewhere!

They have the best sancocho and serve it everyday. So good. Tastes homemade. Their pepper steak is also amazing.

Delicious food and nice service; it's in my neighborhood which is convenient. Reasonable prices and some good drinks which is a plus.

So rude. Does not listen. You have to repeat your self weather it be in English or Spanish. Foos is not worth the head ace.

This is the spot…read more This is the spot for a huge platter of delicious Colombian food, perhaps before you go dance it off at the nearby Knockdown Center. I'm not going to pretend that I am the best person to determine what an authentic Colombian experience is (never had the pleasure of visiting Colombia), but if this isn't it, I can't imagine what they're missing. The staff speaks to you in Spanish exclusively, which made me glad one of my boys is Honduran. The TVs all over the place are playing what appear to be Colombian music videos that were made in the 80s featuring old men and attractive young women. They've got buckets of Colombian beer and frosted mugs so cold that the beer turned to slush around the sides. They've got a platter called the Bandeja la Berraca that consists of rice, beans, steak, plantains, eggs, avocado salad, little corn cakes, blood sausage, other sausage (amazing), and a giant side of chicharron. Eat and drink to you're bursting, while adorable Colombian kids run around the place. And rejoice that you live in NYC, where these things can be had.

Ate here today for lunch by myself while working as a temporary substitute paraprofessional at P.S…read more 398 Q to try this place out for the first time. I had brought and ate the bandera dish that comes with goat and tripe stew, shrimp ceviche, and rice. Overall, it was delicious and really good. The service there was also attentive and pleasant that they even give me a sweet slice of cake for a complimentary dessert. I couldn't agree more! Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

The food is excellent but the billing is questionable to say the least. We won't go back…read more Somehow our bill went from $39 to $55.20 after ordering a $5 slice of flan for dessert. That's a difference of $16.20, which was more than my $15 entree (steak with rice, beans, and tostones). They took it upon themselves to include a 15% tip on debit ($7.20) after my wife had already tipped with $10 cash (which was returned when we questioned it). They charged us $3 extra for a side of beans that should have been included with my wife's $21 fried fish platter. Initially they didn't charge anything for a $4 lemon beverage that was ordered by a misunderstanding, but once we ordered the flan after the bill came out the first time they corrected that mistake. Granted these are small charges, but the overall feeling we were left with was a bad taste. The bill turned out higher than what we initially expected and was no bargain considering we didn't even order an alcoholic beverage. It felt like we were paying a sucker surcharge.

Visited on Sunday for lunch. The area was bright and clean. Food was great. Ordered fried calamari…read moreand mixed platter. Calamari was great, perfectly fried, crispy but not too greasy. FYI, their calamari is different from Mediterranean. Service was great! It was my first time to Ecuadorian restaurant. The server was very kind to explain everything and made a great recommendation. Notes- Most dishes are a bit more, so see the photos, but not by much…read more I have been to this Ecuadorian restaurant twice at this point, though last time was long enough ago that even with my usual vast food memory, I barely remember what we ordered outside of it all tasting good. The most recent time was a few days ago, and it was excellent. The staff is nice, and the portions are generous for the price point, with two of us taking home leftovers out of the four people dining. To drink, three of us had shakes, or rather batidos, with the prices being $7 en agua or $8 en leche. I went with Lulo, which is listed as Solanum online, but really refers to naranjilla. As per the name, it means a little orange, but it is closer in flavor to a mix between pineapple and lime. Others had Maracuyá/passion fruit and Guanábana/soursop, and everyone enjoyed their drinks. They gave us some chulpi/corn nuts on the table, along with some aji verde, a lightly spicy green sauce which went with some of our heavier appetizers. Our heavier appetizer was two orders of the Bolón Mixto for $10. Bolon refers to a green plantain ball, and they offer the traditional cheese version along with chicharron, or with camarones/shrimp. The mixto combines the cheese and pork, and it was delicious, but very filling. One was more than enough, but we still enjoyed it, with the aji verde helping to reduce the overall richness. There was also the $6.50 Yapingachos/Llapingacho, or pan-fried potato cakes. These came two to an order and came topped with an onion and tomato salsa, along with some lettuce below. The potato cakes were a lot lighter by comparison to our other appetizer, but still flavorful. I would recommend them, as with other people who go here. Our smaller main dish was the Ceviche de Pescado for $17.00, or fish cocktail served either with rice or, as our choice, chifles or fried plantain chips. This was also available as a mixto, but I didn't order it as I have a pulpo allergy. There was a large amount of fresh fish inside for the price, making it very worth it. As with most ceviches, there was some sourness from the lime along with some fresh chopped herbs, onions, and tomatoes. It lacked a bit of heat I usually prefer, but I still liked it, and the whole thing was devoured quickly. Our other main dishes were all $19. My favorite of the bunch was the Seco de Chivo, with goat stew slowly cooked in home-made sofrito and beer, served with yellow rice, sliced avocado, and sweet plantain. The goat was cooked down until it was extremely tender, but still had a bit of chew, and there was a good amount of meat, even with the amount of bones in there. The broth was savory and mildly sweet, being warming, comforting, and perfect on top of the rice. This was excellent. For most of the other group, their favorite was the Chaulafan, a mix of stir-fried rice with chicken, beef, shrimp, egg, and veggies served with sweet plantain and avocado. The rice had a nice texture with some lightly crispy portions and was mildly salty. The meat inside was mostly very tender, regardless of what meat it was. This was excellent as well. The remaining dish was the Sango de Camarones, listed as a tropical dish and a purée of green plantains, slowly cooked in peanut sauce and shrimp, and topped with citrus red onions served with yellow rice and sliced avocado. The dish had a unique, almost gruel-like texture, which was a bit off-putting to some, but others like myself liked it. The shrimp inside was tender, and the dish felt a bit richer than the other mains. This was probably our least favorite main, but it was still good. We were quite full, but got some $7 Flan for dessert, which is in-house made. It wasn't overly sweet, which is my preference, and the texture was semi-soft. It was a good version, and the portion was large for the price. We liked this as well. Not many complaints here. Friendly service and good, reasonably priced food.
