    9/21/24 - Empanada Cheese & Onion | Empanada Chicken & Red Peppers
    Brie F.

Happy Birthday Baby. I took my husband here for a romantic birthday dinner, and I absolutely fell in love with the space. It's much bigger than the pictures make it seem, but still just the right size for an intimate dining experience. I was a bit bummed that we couldn't try the sangria, or a few other drinks I had hoped to order. They also don't offer mixed margaritas or mojitos, which was unfortunate. Despite that, I decided to go with my usual favorite, Jameson and Ginger Ale. My husband went for a Caipirinha, which was a bit too strong for my taste. We started with the empanadas: one with Gruyère, fontina cheese, and onions, and another with free-range chicken, onions, and peppers. While my husband enjoyed the cheese empanada, we both agreed the chicken empanada was the real star. Definitely something to write home about! So good, in fact, that we ended up ordering a second round of the chicken empanadas to take home. For the entrée, we both had the Churrasco. The skirt steak was perfectly cooked. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The green salad was a nice balance with just the right amount of saltiness, and the duck fat potatoes were crispy. We'd never had duck fat potatoes before, so we couldn't really tell if they had a unique taste, but we appreciated the crispiness. Still, we probably could've done without them and just stuck to the steak and salad. I asked the waitress to surprise my hubby with a birthday dessert. I ended up choosing the Alfajor Rustico since they didn't offer traditional options like cake. The dessert featured dulce de leche, chocolate ganache, sea salt caramelized walnuts, all sandwiched between two crisp homemade cookies. Unfortunately, I wasn't particularly impressed. We've had better versions of this dessert. I wouldn't order it again. Overall, it was a lovely experience. The space was perfect for a special evening, the food was mostly great, and despite a few drink limitations, we had a memorable and enjoyable dinner.

Delicious and unexpected menu with cool interior and a great happy hour deal. Definitely coming back after a lovely Monday evening happy hour. Their cocktails were reasonably priced and a decent cabernet as well as a tasty port to finish, their bar was really doing a great service. The food was really tasty and worth going back for just the steak. I had the full branzino, which was SO tasty and had the best potatoes I think I've had at a restaurant. The fish was so perfectly seared and it wasn't too hard to navigate the bones! The steak as luscious as well as cooked to a perfect medium rare. The sauce was an excellent pairing. We splits the hot seafood and potato appetizer, which I found quite delectable, and had a lots of tasty squid and octopus bites! The dessert, definitely worth. That chocolate cake was incredible. Chocolatey, rich, perfect with the port - if you haven't figured it out by now, come for steak and cake with some port. Excellent spot through and through and will be taking friends and family here again.

(Photos are from two separate visits.) We've been to Tabaré for Dinner and now Brunch and both times were a great experience. The food is always fresh and flavorful! The portions are a good size and the drinks are delicious. The service is also exceptional. We went for brunch to celebrate our anniversary and the staff were extremely attentive without being intrusive, friendly and elevate the overall experience. This spot has definitely become a favorite! Meals photographed (Brunch): Churrasco a caballo x2, torta de chocolate negro (partially eaten). The drinks we had that weren't all shown were mimosa, Hendricks, champagne, and coffee. (Dinner from previous visit): Mejillones a la provenzal, Churrasco x2, Alfajor Rústico. The drinks we had were La Sombra and Hendricks. The next meals I would like to try are: Croston con Morcilla, Farro Salad, Chivito Completo and Caserola de pulpo & habas.

I almost want to gatekeep this restaurant but seeing how its a chain! Damn, oh my god the news is probably already out. Honestly one of the best meals i've had in nyc and such a good value too. The ribeye steak for under $40?? I've never had a steak that good in the US for that cheap WTF you also have to get the cheese empanada!!

What a lovely place! The food was incredible--both the Chicken Milanese and the steak were some of the best I've had in the city. The Chicken Milanese was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the steak was cooked to perfection, juicy, and full of flavor. The service was just as impressive. The wait staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and made sure we felt well taken care of throughout our meal. It really added to the warm and welcoming vibe of the place. The ambiance was cozy yet vibrant, with a relaxed, intimate feel that made it perfect for a casual dinner or a special night out. A real hidden gem!

We can in pretty close to closing time for a late night bite because I was FAMISHED. They people were so very kind to allow us to sit and enjoy our meal even though they were doing last call for the kitchen. That was awesome. Thumbs up for not be ing pushy as well. They really let us relax. The vibes were immaculate with low amber lights and calming music (bossa nova) overall, it was a nice and relaxing experience at the end of the day.

Super warm and cozy spot in Bushwick, love the vibes. Cocktails were pretty good, I especially liked the Verde which tasted like a green juice mixed with some alcohol. Appetizers are delicious, I liked the octopus. For mains, I went with the Uruguayan sandwich which was super filling but a bit salty. Great if you're looking for comfort food. The seating can be a little cramped but the service is above average. Would recommend if you're in the area but wouldn't travel to come here.

Came here with 2 friends the steak here is on point! Perfectly cooked, seasoned and juicy. We didn't order the healthiest food but it sure was delicious. If you want a good red meat dish come here. The servers were very nice and the restaurant looks inviting inside. I'm happy they expanded to this new location and I wish them luck will continue to support.

The food was so good service amazing and the interior was amazing. We would 100 percent come back it was an amazing experience

So this was an interesting experience. Our server was really friendly. We got there just before happy hour was ending. She left us know this so we could put a drink order in which we did. The cocktails were really good. I had the Verde which I think is one of their signature drinks and it was tasty. For the food two of us shared two different empanadas. The beef and olive one was good the cheese and onion one was really good. One of my friends got the Chicken Milanesa, my other friend and I shared the Chicken Milanese as well as the Chivito Completo which is the sandwich pictured with the fries. The Chicken Milanesa was delish, but it was slightly underwhelming in a few ways. It came with a Dijon mustard sauce which was good but there needed to be way more of it. The sweet potato chips were homemade and really good. The salad that came with the chicken was fresh and a nice touch but the dressing again was scarce. I also feel like the salad should have had the like a mustard vinaigrette cause it would have tied in with the chicken so much more. Everything was tasty but didn't tie in to each other. The cutting board plate was very cute. Now I'd like to talk about the Chivito Completo. I took the description directly from their website because I didn't want to forget any of the 11 items on the sandwich. "Traditional Uruguayan grass-fed filet mignon sandwich, fried organic egg, bacon, Provolone, black forest ham, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, bibb lettuce, beefsteak tomato, Spanish olives, aioli, fries." It was just too many things on one sandwich. I didn't understand the sandwich at all and nothing really tied it all together flavor wise either. I also think there wasn't bacon on ours, but with all those items I couldn't really tell. Again, the sandwich wasn't bad tasting, per se, but it confused me and my friends and really didn't taste good either. I know this is a long review, but like we loved the vibe at this place and the staff was really friendly. The flavors were like so close but everything needed something more, in our opinions, to really push it over into being amazing. Giving it a 3 just because every dish really did come so close, but just feel short.

Been here 6 times now and food is always amazing .Service was amazing when Lucas served us there ,other times service could be a bit better . This is my current favorite restaurant. Prices are amazing for the quality and portions of the food . Drinks are good and couldn't ask for better more flavorful food . The brunch is also exceptional and the vibes and ambience are always great .

Everything we had was phenomenal! I came with a reservation for a weeknight dinner since we had a large group. The cocktails were all delicious; I particularly enjoyed the Verde. The Kale Caesar is a must-have; it was honestly the best Caesar salad I have ever had. The pate was another delicious starter. I shared the mixed grill for two and it was definitely a great value, with chicken, steak, ribs, sausage, and blood sausage. Overall I would definitely come back!

The ribeye was very reasonably priced and cooked a perfect medium rare. The roasted potatoes were fried in duck fat and had a nice crunch and great taste. The salad was very basic but added a nice contrast with the heavier steak and potatoes. The flan was very rich and the caramel sauce was good. I was well serviced with waiters coming around to check on me and refill my water. The restaurant was super dark with candelit tables.

Came here with a group of 4 on New Years eve. The main takeaway is that the skirt steak was under seasoned and on the chewier side.

The most recent time was a few days ago, and it was excellent. The staff is nice, and the portions are generous for the price point, with two of us taking home leftovers out of the four people dining. To drink, three of us had shakes, or rather batidos, with the prices being $7 en agua or $8 en leche. I went with Lulo, which is listed as Solanum online, but really refers to naranjilla. As per the name, it means a little orange, but it is closer in flavor to a mix between pineapple and lime. Others had Maracuyá/passion fruit and Guanábana/soursop, and everyone enjoyed their drinks. They gave us some chulpi/corn nuts on the table, along with some aji verde, a lightly spicy green sauce which went with some of our heavier appetizers. Our heavier appetizer was two orders of the Bolón Mixto for $10. Bolon refers to a green plantain ball, and they offer the traditional cheese version along with chicharron, or with camarones/shrimp. The mixto combines the cheese and pork, and it was delicious, but very filling. One was more than enough, but we still enjoyed it, with the aji verde helping to reduce the overall richness. There was also the $6.50 Yapingachos/Llapingacho, or pan-fried potato cakes. These came two to an order and came topped with an onion and tomato salsa, along with some lettuce below. The potato cakes were a lot lighter by comparison to our other appetizer, but still flavorful. I would recommend them, as with other people who go here. Our smaller main dish was the Ceviche de Pescado for $17.00, or fish cocktail served either with rice or, as our choice, chifles or fried plantain chips. This was also available as a mixto, but I didn't order it as I have a pulpo allergy. There was a large amount of fresh fish inside for the price, making it very worth it. As with most ceviches, there was some sourness from the lime along with some fresh chopped herbs, onions, and tomatoes. It lacked a bit of heat I usually prefer, but I still liked it, and the whole thing was devoured quickly. Our other main dishes were all $19. My favorite of the bunch was the Seco de Chivo, with goat stew slowly cooked in home-made sofrito and beer, served with yellow rice, sliced avocado, and sweet plantain. The goat was cooked down until it was extremely tender, but still had a bit of chew, and there was a good amount of meat, even with the amount of bones in there. The broth was savory and mildly sweet, being warming, comforting, and perfect on top of the rice. This was excellent. For most of the other group, their favorite was the Chaulafan, a mix of stir-fried rice with chicken, beef, shrimp, egg, and veggies served with sweet plantain and avocado. The rice had a nice texture with some lightly crispy portions and was mildly salty. The meat inside was mostly very tender, regardless of what meat it was. This was excellent as well. The remaining dish was the Sango de Camarones, listed as a tropical dish and a purée of green plantains, slowly cooked in peanut sauce and shrimp, and topped with citrus red onions served with yellow rice and sliced avocado. The dish had a unique, almost gruel-like texture, which was a bit off-putting to some, but others like myself liked it. The shrimp inside was tender, and the dish felt a bit richer than the other mains. This was probably our least favorite main, but it was still good. We were quite full, but got some $7 Flan for dessert, which is in-house made. It wasn't overly sweet, which is my preference, and the texture was semi-soft. It was a good version, and the portion was large for the price. We liked this as well. Not many complaints here. Friendly service and good, reasonably priced food.

I walked onto this small storefront where they had a squeeze rubber chicken hanging upside down to grab their attention inside (which I thought was funny & ingenious). And it really did work - from personal experience. The staff member came straight away. And I got to ordering my food. I decided to order the BEEF & CHICKEN SALTENAS. The saltenas really are empanadas x soup dumplings collab. It's like they put a hearty stew inside an empanadas looking incasing. It was mostly savory, but had a slight sweet kick. The exterior is well made & crispy. The shell is quite thick that the soup doesn't really soak through and really does hold the soup inside really well. All considering, I only got a few drops of the soup coming out when I ate it for the first time. I also added the green sauce inside and it really did deliver a spicy kick. Overall, I like both options. But I do prefer the beef if I had to choose one to buy. If you don't feel like braving the cold and waiting outside in the cold like I did, I suggest you order ahead.

The first incident was 3.5 months ago when I ordered food to-go and requested extra Salsa Criolla sauce for my jackfruit sandwich....but got home and discovered NO salsa criolla sauce was given to me at all. This was extremely upsetting as this sauce COMES WITH the sandwich. Without it, it's very dry and not as tasty. Today I decided to give them another chance and ordered via Uber Eats. I included a note on my order, "SALSA CRIOLLA - plz don't forget". The food arrived 15+ minutes after the delivery window (which it's exactly their fault as it's a third party delivery service), however I was dumbfounded when once again I discovered NO salsa criolla sauce in my bag. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?! It's absolutely ridiculous that they completely left out something that COMES WITH my sandwich a second time, especially since I wrote an extra note about it. My receipt shows the phrase "salsa criolla" twice (see my photo), meaning there is no excuse for them to have forgotten it this time. This is so unfortunate, because I truly do love their food! However I can no longer trust them. Note to management: train your staff to double-check orders before sending them out. Your receipts literally list out every single component needed for an order to be complete, so there is absolutely no excuse for incomplete orders to keep being sent out like this.
