The interior is a bit on the darker side, but the outdoor seating looked like it would be a great ambiance. I ordered a grain bowl with grilled chicken. I loved the sauce, which had a hint of chili and tomato. The chicken was super thick, juicy, and tender, and the rice pilaf was the perfect texture too. It felt like a very simple and healthy, yet delicious meal. We considered getting one of their signature pancakes to share, but were unfortunately too full. I usually get savory then have pancakes so a single is perfect for me! The hazelnut syrup is amazing and the texture of the pancake is perfect. No notes! Have never tried any that have a similar taste palette. The closest I would compare to would be Golden Diner but they're still oh so different. This is a spacious restaurant with two levels, there's a decent amount of space between tables that you don't have to worry about brushing up against a stranger. The decor gives off a homely, comforting vibe. Service wasn't anything special. It's been awhile since I've been to Sunday in Brooklyn, but the craving for their pancakes suddenly struck, and thus we braved the wait on a Saturday. Despite the estimate being 1.5 hours, we only waited 45 min at a nearby coffee shop and then were able to be seated. I had forgotten how large the pancakes are, and so when the triple stack arrived, we all gasped. But it was the right amount for our party of 4, when added to the mushroom confit toast (amazing), cheddar scramble, shakshuka, and egg & cheese sandwich. My favorites were definitely the pancakes (a bit corn-bread like, with hazelnut maple praline) and the mushroom confit toast (so mushroomy, the shiitake really shines here!). Worth the wait? Sunday in Brooklyn is a delightful little corner spot that seems small initially, but actually has plenty of seating throughout - including in an upstairs space. Regardless, we were promptly seated (without a reservation) in a table downstairs, and had very friendly, hospitable service throughout our visit. While dining, we ordered a few of the cocktails, and I found each one I tried to be a good amount of strength while also creative in the flavors and heat. Cozy little spot with 2 floors, we were seated on the 2nd. Prices are reasonable and service is fast. We got 1 pancake, home fries, and the croque madame flatbread thing. Home fries were killer, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Pancake is good, but heavy with a sweet caramel hazelnut sauce on it (we couldn't finish it). It's more a massive piece of skillet cornbread than a pancake. The croque madame comes like a pizza and tbh it was just OK. I want to start off by saying the food isn't bad. It's simply not worth the price or the hype. I didn't enjoy the pancake, the syrup was hardened and thrown on. But the real crime was my toast. We were a party of three but bc our third person hadn't arrived yet, we were asked to sit at the bar until the full party was present to secure a table based on policy. The bar itself wasn't the most comfortable option especially when you're coming straight from work in the winter with a bag and a long jacket. There are some hooks under the table but longer coats end up dragging on the floor so you will have to hold your jacket. I wouldn't recommend sitting at the bar unless you're traveling light without much to carry or if you're waiting for your full party to arrive. We chose this place specifically because of their Snow Day cocktail list that sounded really fun. I ordered the Polar Bear Club drink. It's basically a frozen pina colada mixed with cold brew. It looked very cute but the taste didn't quite do it for me. My friend ordered the Partridge on a Pear drink which came in an adorable bird shaped cup. Unfortunately, for me, it was a bit underwhelming in both taste and temp. This drink didn't come with ice most likely due to the cup design. Unless it is meant to be hot, I feel like drinks taste better with ice and not room temp. Another friend got the Grinch Don't Kill My Vibe drink and loved it. It's sweet and if you enjoy creme de menthe, this is defs a must try. For food, we ordered the pastrami and potato croquettes which tasted very similar to falafel. I actually enjoyed them even though it didn't feel like a typical croquette. Two of us also shared a hot chicken burger with fries. The server was kind enough to separate the spicy seasoning and sauce for me. I really appreciate it!!! The burger itself was solid. The fries were okay, though the smaller pieces felt a bit oily, almost like they had been fried more than once. I started with a coffee and added cream and sugar. For the meal I ordered the breakfast egg and cheese sandwich adding bacon. I also added one of the notable pancakes. It came on a sesame style bun. Look, I find it goofy when people pipe up over bread - but the bread on this was a lowkey STUD. Lots of fluffy egg, cheese and perfectly prepared bacon, and a spicy mayo on top. The pancake looked cool but I found myself trying to track down a mystery flavor within the sauce. The pancake was more of a cornbread makeup than the standard fluffy batter used. It was still good - just found myself wanting to figure it out. Also found myself using the bathroom which didn't have an overhead light but decorative mood lighting. I rarely make reservations, I usually just walk in but walking in will always require a wait. The last time I went it took about 30 minutes to get a table. The pancakes are a must! The hostess and waiter were both friendly. I ordered the single pancake, of course, and added a side of chicken sausage. Nine dollars for a single chicken sausage is completely outrageous but I at least wanted some protein and I will admit it was delicious. Sort of a maple apple flavor. The pancake was also very tasty. I concur with other reviews that it does give cornmeal vibes, but I am a fan of that. Also, that despite being pretty big it was not overly filling to where It weighed me down later in the day. We enjoyed a uniquely wonderful afternoon at 'Sunday' with a large group celebrating a baby shower. There were around 50 of us in the large room on the 2nd floor. Absolutely everything was first rate. I mean everything. The staff were fantastic. Cameron was the first server who I met and he was attentive to our needs along with a many fantastic people who brought us our dishes, cleared our tables, and delivered us drinks. Wow. The food was amazing. We had the spicy chicken sandwiches, avocado toast, grain bowl, labneh with granola and jam-with a perfectly poached egg, exquisitely prepared scrambled eggs, and the indescribably amazing pancakes. O-M-G. Serving that many people and presenting delicious food course after course is a testament to the quality of the kitchen. The drinks were also on target. They seem to specialize in making a Bloody Mary, that are spicy and made with horseradish. Stopped by Sunday in Brooklyn on a random Tuesday during lunch time. I've heard so many great things about this restaurant so I was eager to give it a shot. It wasn't crowded so we had the option to sit wherever we wanted and we decided to sit outside; it was the perfect day to do so. The vibe of the restaurant is cool and dark on the inside. The waiter was so friendly and gladly stood by as we figured out what we'd want to drink and provided so great options as meal choices. For drinks my partner got the fresh squeezed orange juice, which was so delish and I got a hot coffee with oat milk. For the app we got the watermelon and feta salad and I literally would eat that everyday if i could. That was the most refreshing and yummy salad I've had. The feta was creamy and the watermelon was sweet. For the main, my partner got the caesar salad with chicken and I got the chicken sandwich. The caesar salad was the best Ive had. The croutons was so crunchy and buttery, the dressing was the creamy and seasoned well, and the chicken was so juicy! As for the chicken sandwich, it was good but I do think it was over seasoned and took away from the juiciness of the chicken. The fries though were seasoned so well and crunchy. Overall, I absolutely loved Sunday in Brooklyn and would go back to try more things on the menu and for that watermelon salad. read more

This was such a treat. One of my favorite stops on our food crawl today. The Sunday pancakes double was a great sharing plate. About $20 and so worth it. It was such a unique pancake experience. More like a cake experience. The drizzled chocolate over all of it isn't too daunting or too sweet. It's just right. To the point where I ate all of it. And I didn't feel sick after which I feel like could be easy. The staff is super nice. I love the graphic design shirts they wear.
