What a treat! Will definitely return to sample more delicious food. The entrance is a bit hidden--took some time to find the sign hidden by shrubbery, pointing to the entrance around the corner. Make reservations, as this place fills up and there aren't that many tables available. Indoors and outdoors offer great vibes. Outdoors, you get the spectacular views of Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline. Indoors, you still get that view, plus chic vibes with tasteful background music. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Perfect for a date or any kind of family & friends gathering. Staff are impeccably available, courteous and helpful. Every person we interacted with (and that was over five people, from the hostess to bartenders to waiters to bus boys) made us feel comfortable and at ease. Food was superb. Everything we ate was top quality. $25 grilled octopus appetizer was perfectly executed--the octopus melted on the tongue and all the other ingredients on the plate created a perfect symphony of flavors. $34 trout was a solid piece of tender fish. Wish couscous was replaced with something else. This was a balanced meal for anyone who wants a good amount of protein and minimum carbs. $32+ pistachio pesto pasta with morels and green peas stole the show. That PESTO was the best I could remember having. Packed the flavor. You could taste the ingredient quality. The pasta was perfectly chewy and the portion was massive. You'll be so full. We added the crab as a protein to it for additional charge and that was THE move! Woooow! This was a dish I'll crave for the next foreseeable future. Such a decadent treat. You'll be so carb loaded and happy, with all that incredible pesto coating every morsel of, you won't know what hit you. Definitely try this. I'm not a pasta person and I'm recommending! $14 chocolate tart was a bit too dense (the dry crust) and drier than I expected. Still tasty if you're craving a chocolate dessert that's not too sweet. Big portion to share amid 2-3 people. The star of the show was the $17 basque cheesecake. Ooooooh heavens! So decadent and satisfying. Not too sweet. Not too rich. Just perfect to end the night on a high note. We ordered a looooot of alcohol, and that ran up the tab pretty high. $20 amaro flight was an interesting experience: all very similar yet distinct flavors. Beers were light and good. $20 Athens martini was definitely not for everyone. $20 laphroig scotch was a stunner. Good quality liquor all in all.

What a charming oasis in a busy Dumbo area. Their location is ideal. You get to enjoy gorgeous views, outdoor terrace and delicious food while being far enough from the crowds and noise (minus the trains running on manhattan bridge). The food is great. Portions are decent size, fresh and full of flavor. The only dish that was underwhelming was the octopus appetizer- few pieces were very chewy unfortunately. Drinks were awesome - everyone in our party enjoyed their craft cocktails.

A gem! My friend's and I are here for new years brunch. I accidentally made an error when booking the reservation and they were able to swiftly accommodate us. For brunch, we ordered the buttermilk pancakes, eggs Norwegian, burger, and chicken salad sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their food. I appreciated that the eggs Norwegian was the perfect portion size and the smoked salmon was delicious. If you're looking for a lovely restaurant with views in Dumbo, this spot checks that box.

Came here for my birthday brunch with my family, and we all loved it. The place is beautiful and the food is delicious. Our server Nick and the whole staff was so pleasant and attentive. Looking forward to dining again soon.

Delicious brunch, yummy cocktails, amazing view. Would be a good place to bring out of town visitors for brunch.

Came to Celestine right after exploring the Brooklyn Flea Market, and it was the perfect spot to unwind. We sat in the indoor patio area with a beautiful view of the Brooklyn Bridge, which really elevated the whole brunch experience. We ordered from the brunch menu--started with the strawberry burrata, which was super refreshing and light, perfect for a warm day. I got the Eggs Norwegian, and while the salmon skin was a bit salty, the egg and everything else helped balance it out nicely. For drinks, we had one mocktail and a blueberry shrub cocktail--which was light, tangy, and refreshing. If you like your drinks a little stronger, I'd recommend adding vodka to it for an extra kick. What really made the experience even more special was that they surprised me with a graduation gift at the end of the meal. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made the whole visit feel that much more memorable. Definitely a spot I'd return to--great food, amazing views, and even better hospitality.

My son planned a special dinner for the last night of my visit in Brooklyn. He knew how I loved the view of the Brooklyn & Manhattan Bridges in Dumbo. The site also holds historical significance as it's the location where George Washington crossed into Manhattan after the Battle of Brooklyn during the Revolutionary War. The escape with his troops under the cover of night was an awesome feat. Celestine is a special location with two glass walls providing a fantastic view of both the Brooklyn & Manhattan Bridges. The elegant restaurant offers a menu featuring Mediterranean cuisine. My son chose our shared appetizer, the Mezzi Platter, which was amazing. The Greek Flatbread was hot, soft & made enormously tasty with seasoning & olive oil. The dippings were Baba Ganoush, Hummus & Muhammara. After trying each I became a huge fan of the Baba Ganoush. A second serving of the Flatbread certainly blew my diet, but was completely irresistible. My son & I both chose the Steelhead Trout with Romano Beans, Confit Tomatoes & Raita. Our entree was 5 Stars. I had been tempted to order a number of appetizers instead of an entree because the Golden Beets with Caraflex Cabbage, Winter Radish, Sesame Seeds topped with Tumeric Vinaigrette sounded wonderful. The Spanish Octopus with Charred Eggplant & Spiced Chickpeas would have been my second appetizer. My Grandson's choices were the Little Gem Caesar Salad, which definitely wasn't little. As a side he chose French Fries with Harissa Aioli. How could I forget the drinks? I chose the Mediterranean Martini, the mixture being Vodka, Mediterranean Gin, Lillet Blanc, Rosemary & Caper Berry. This was the best Martini I've ever tasted. My son chose the Phoney Negroni Mocktail & Iced Tea. Never do I order dessert! But my son wanted to see the dessert menu. I shouldn't have even looked. But I did. And wonder of wonders I saw Pistachio Ice Cream, my favorite. I absolutely had to have it! Sigh..... Diet really blown now. Service was exceptional. All our requests & needs were promptly met. The restaurant has a wraparound deck where one can survey the exceptional view from the exterior of the restaurant. We decided to descend to street level & walk to the lookout area of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Celestine checks all the boxes. Location, menu, service & view make this a 5 Star review.

Celestine is in a beautiful modern building right by the water. We were a bit early for our reservation so nearby we took some gorgeous evening pictures by the Manhattan Bridge Lookout. When we arrived, we were seated by a window with a beautiful view of the bridges. We informed our servers that it was our mom's birthday, and asked if they do anything for birthdays. They don't, but they added a candle to our dessert. We ordered the crab casarecce, the pistachio pesto, and the steelhead trout. The pasta was al dente. The crab pasta was spicy with some zesty citrus, the pesto was rich and savory with peas and mushrooms, and the trout was tender with its couscous and tangy yogurt sauce. We liked them all well enough but they were pricey. For drinks, my mom and sister got the cactus paloma and the aphrodite. My sister said they were okay. And for dessert, the basque cheesecake was rich and paired well with passionfruit sauce. There was a period of time where the table next to us had their phone flashlights on bright, trying to read their bill because of the dim mood lighting. Service was perfectly nice but we would have loved it if the restaurant provided something for birthday guests. We had a very nice evening, but for the price, probably will be looking elsewhere for future special occasions!

What a lovely restaurant for brunch on a Sunday morning. Fantastic views of the East River and NYC. We showed up with a reservation and ran into some friends. The staff was very accommodating to get us a bigger table. Food was fresh and delicious. Absolutely loved the warm flat breads and could've eaten many more. They were happy to make changes in food preparations. Overall excellent meal and experience.

We went to Celestine on Valentine's Day! It was $130 per person. It included a salad, entree, and dessert. The only choice was the entree and it was between halibut and waygu steak. My husband and I both got the waygu. It was yum! The salad wasn't my favorite but I think they picked it cause it was pink for Valentine's Day. Celestine has a special place in our hearts because three years ago we ate at Celestine after we got engaged. The ambiance is always nice!

This restaurant is on one of those 'best places to eat in New York with a view' lists. The view looks out onto the Manhattan Bridge; it's quite loud outside but inside the restaurant doesn't get any of the noise pollution. There is a little park in back of the restaurant next to the water that you can explore before/after your meal. On the weekends they have a brunch menu - the omelette has chorizo, peppers, onions and has an aioli on top. The omelette is very, very thick and seems more like a quiche honestly. A third of the plate is taken up by an arugula salad which is pretty bare bones and unfortunately includes arugula (so bitter). The aioli makes the omelette (which is already very heavy) even heavier. Buttermilk pancakes - pretty standard pancakes with plenty of syrup on the side, and a beautiful red berry butter. This is again pretty simple, though. I think if you want the view you can just hang out at the park and don't need to eat here. The view itself from within the restaurant is only really amazing from one or 2 tables right at the corner. Otherwise there's a pole and some greenery that obscure the view a bit.

Timely service and friendly servers, lots of tables inside and out, a very fun but grounded vibe. Nice lighting inside for dinner, felt a bit intimate. My friends liked the fries and the chicken dish. The Hamachi Crudo was really tasty (probably the best thing I ate that night), but the way it was presented had my friends thinking it was raw chicken! Maybe some cleaner slices presented a different way would fit the dish better. My other friend and I were both disappointed by the Crab Pasta dish. Huge serving of pasta which was good, and there was a decent amount of crab, but both servings were dry, and the flavor was pretty bland unfortunately. Pasta itself was cooked fine. We came here for my birthday, and even though we didn't order a dessert, they gifted me with a small plate of chocolate bark and a candle, which I really appreciated! I'd give this place another try.

We went to Celestine to celebrate New Year's Eve! The restaurant is small and cozy with views of the Manhattan Bridge and the East River. Not every table has a great view so roll the dice and hope you get lucky. Now for the food, since it was NYE, it was a pre fixe menu. 3 appetizers, 1 main (there were two options) and 1 dessert. We ordered two drinks, Passionfruit Cooler and an Old Fashioned. The cooler tasted like cheap juice. The old fashioned was super sweet. I thought I was drinking Coke. For the first app, we had the Blue Point Oyster. The oyster was fresh, succulent and mignonette sauce was well made. The course was small but delicious. The second app, Hamachi Crudo. My personal favorite dish of the entire night. The plating was beautiful. The fish was covered in an amazing citrus flavored sauce (Sicilian red orange vinaigrette). The third app, Honeynut Squash Risotto. Made well with white truffle, flavors were hitting. Since there were two of us, we got the Poached Lobster and Wagyu Striploin. The Poached Lobster course was generously portioned. The scallops were buttery and cooked extremely well. The sauce was a tad salty. The wagyu striploin course was also generously portioned. It was perfectly cooked to medium rare. The mushrooms and carrots on the side were delicious. The dessert was bad. The Tuxedo Cake was a beautifully wrapped present but when you opened it all you found was coal. It was dry and had an odd taste. It was stiff and seemed to have been taken out of the freezer earlier during the service. The service was alright. When we sat down, the table next to us was two courses ahead of us, but at the end of the meal we were having dessert when they just received their mains. They seem quite unhappy during the wait. They sat there for a while without any food, looking confused as to why the people around them were being served their main courses before they were. The staff did not offer any explanations or apologies. Overall, the food was good. Some courses were small and dessert was just bad. Drinks were a miss for us. Service is a hit or a miss, depending on who you get. Views is luck of the draw. Price point is not good. $190 per person before tip and tax. The NYE dinner menu came with complimentary champagne that was mid.

If you want something different, the "Act Naturally" is a standout, mixing Irish whiskey with Guinness and fig in a way that works. Food is just as impressive for a bar. The lobster deviled eggs (topped with caviar) are a must-try, and the menu leans into elevated comfort food. Overall, The Dead Rabbit nails the balance between historic charm and modern cocktail excellence. The D.R. is one of those places that is never boring and consistently delivers.

Serious attitude here. The cocktails were very tasty but the service and vibe were so off-putting,…read moreI will never go back. I made a reservation in person more than 24 hours in advance. I wanted to treat an old friend to a quick birthday toast before a show she was attending nearby. Later that night, another friend became available to join but, because they do not actually have a phone that takes calls (only offers an announcement to go to Resy or email) adding another person was not at all easy. I would have had to cancel and rebook and wasn't sure I'd be able to (reservation was for a Saturday night) In most places, a table for 3 easily accommodates 4. But not here. When two of us arrived, they made it clear this was a big problem. I would have walked out right then but I would have been charged $90! We decided to stay and make the best of it, which was a challenge. For a speakeasy, the vibe was aggressive, not relaxing. Very loud music and not great acoustics.) Too cramped to be comfortable, proving that small does not necessarily mean cozy! We asked if we could take a chair from the table next to us, which was empty (it was only 6 pm; I told our server we'd be gone by 7 because my friend, the birthday girl, had to catch a show.) We were told No! To say the waiter was cold, unfriendly, and indifferent is generous. He was totally rude. He literally told my friend she couldn't sit in a chair that was otherwise empty, knowing we'd be leaving momentarily. Then he had the gail to hand me the bill with a 22% tip pre-selected...and watched over me while I signed it! Definitely the least satisfying $100 I have ever spent. Disappointing. It was good to see my friends, but I so wish I hadn't picked this place. Never again.
