if I were to have the power of giving any restaurant, Michelin star, it would literally be this place. Not only was everything impeccable on the menu, but I was left wanting more and thinking about it for days. First of all their chopped cheese rice cakes stole the show. Their Yuzu whipped ricotta bread was to die for!! Not only was this the best burger I've ever tasted, I later found out that they were recognized as the one of the best burgers in the world which is a huge flex. I went with a group of five, so I appreciated that it was more of a family Style dinner & tried 7-8 different dishes.

Within one week of hearing they opened Nowon in my neighborhood, I had to go get the chopped cheese over rice cakes in my face as fast as possible. Super chic interior, definite date spot, and fits the neighborhood quite well. Our server was great and timely! We didnt have to wait long for delicious cocktails or the amazing food. The korean fried chicken was perfect. The garlic soy sauce was balanced, the fry on the chicken was exceptional and the portion was perfect to split. The chop cheese over rice cakes (ttebboukki?) was so worth. Its one of the better things I've had at any fusion place, let alone one of the tastier things I had this outing. The mushroom japchae was DELICIOUS and so tasty for any mushroom heads out there. Will be coming back, and will try more things, and will recommend to anyone that asks.

Nowon is such a gem, it gives 90's nostalgia, their playlist consisted of 90s HipHop & RnB so the vibes are just right. We didn't have a reservation but quickly got seats at the bar. The bartenders & servers were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious - it was complex yet comforting with a mix of Korean and American dishes. We opted for the classic mixtape which is the best way to experience the menu! Although not pictured, we loved their lamb tacos & cucumber kimchi. Would def recommend for a fun meal out!

How have I never reviewed Nowon? I've been numerous times, the food is amazing. Vibes are very cool and chic Bushwick, service has always been friendly. Order the preset menu and you will leave FULL and satisfied. The honey garlic tater tots and chopped cheese rice cakes are standouts in a menu of hit after hit. You can catch happy hour too and eat and drink plenty for I think a reasonable price. Some things are better left simply: if you've never been to Nowon, GO. Unique food that has you going in for bite after bite even when your gut is about to bust!

Came here for a birthday dinner and did the tasting menu for $49 and I honestly was super happy with the value of the meal. Everything we ordered was delicious and service was great! Super cute restaurant and they do some fun stuff for birthdays. Totally recommend for a group dinner!

I genuinely believe that this was one of the best eats on my last foodie tour in New York. I had seen a video on instagram showing all of the yummy bites and knew as soon as I saw that chopped cheese rice cakes that I had to try it for myself. I was truly impressed and when I try a new restaurant I like to rate based on the food, the intention of the restaurant, and the overall experience. Honestly Nowon got a 5/5 from me. Let's start with the tasting menu, and what a bargain that a 7 course meal was $55/pp! All of the bites were nicely executed, and the service was top tier. I genuinely loved the yuzu ricotta toast and loved it with the addition of the chili oil, it was truly like nothing I've ever tasted! The tots and the cucumber were also pretty highly rated but the chopped cheese rice cakes alone were a show stopper. The creativity, bringing together Korean and the vibes of New York really did it for me! Really well done and I was so full I wasn't able to even finish the kimchi burger but from the bites I had it was also really yummy. It was so cool to later see them placed as #8 best burger because it was deserved fr! Finally, as someone who does not like black sesame, you made a fan out of me with the creme brûlée, it was so light and the perfect way to end a meal. Honestly no notes. Nowon, you are a gem and I hope you get all your flowers because wow, I was truly blown away.

Amazing staff: our waitress was so helpful with recommendations and explanations of the menu. Indoor outdoor seating available. No heat lamps for outdoor seating, so cold weather might not prove to be the best time for outdoor dining. The place fills up quickly. Indoor seating has club-like vibes with disco ball and loud club music blaring so that you cannot really hear conversations. Think, dim, lighting and red lighting all over. As if you're clubbing. Super loud. Not best for first dates. We came in at 5:30 on a Saturday without reservations and sat outside right away. We were one of the first ones to arrive for the night. By 6:30 PM the place was full. We got "the mixtape": a pre set menu set for $49 per person, enjoyed family style per table. Everything was superb. Whipped ricotta tart stole the show: super light and flavorful--I'd eat this daily if I could. The ricotta felt like a dreamy, delicate cloud. The toasted focaccia was divine--super light and airy. This was the unexpected standout for me. Lamb skewers were melt in your mouth delicate. Woooow what punch of flavor! Slightly sweet. Would eat this nonstop if I could. General Le's fried chicken was spicy: our sinuses cleared right up. Super crunchy. The meat was all thigh dark meat. A bit dried up: too fried. But that spicy sweet sauce amped up the taste. Chopped cheese rice cakes were delightful. So chewy, but the exterior had a fried crunch to it. Loved the sauce in which it was served. Tasty crumbles of chopped cheese burger sprinkled on top. Would order again. Legendary burger was superb: I'm returning for this over and over again. Melt on your tongue--perfect symphony of flavors. Perfect smashed patties packed with flavor. The bun was super fluffy and light. Tots were perfectly crispy--fried in animal fat, they remained crisp and flavorful even when they got cold. Truly masterful simple execution. Truffle mayo sauce was the right choice. We were so full by the end of this feast that my stomach threatened to burst. Ended up being a good amount of food for two hungry people. Wish we had some room for black sesame crème brûlée. Happy hour is pretty good: $9 per drink is amazing. Espresso "open sesame" was too sweet, skip. The lychee martini was more balanced but also sweet. The the seasonal drink resembled a Horchata and was the best out of the three that we had. Sweet & satisfying. Would definitely return again. .

Loved the restaurant aesthetic. Felt Like a downtown Japanese vibe. My partner and I shared the 5 course tasting by menu and were pleasantly surprised. The salad was a 10. Chicken was a 10. The rice cakes were new for both of us and they were pretty good. The texture threw me off but I would recommend it. The start tho, was that burger. They claim to have one of the best burgers in NYC and I 100% wholeheartedly agree. Go!

Nowon has been on the list for a while. I had wanted to get over to the original, East Village location, but opted for the Bushwick location because a friend was in town & this location made more sense. Admittedly, I thought Nowon was going to knock my socks off. It was good, but not great. Below are the dishes & drinks we ordered as a party of two. The Black Sesame Caesar Salad may have been the winner in this mix. I think part of the reason we weren't blown away is because of the burger hype... and we were so excited for it! The burger on its own would get a 3. I know, I know... definitely not scoring any points, but was expecting a better burger. (I'm ducking, trying not to get hit by the tomatoes that are being thrown at me from that comment!) Food 1. Black Sesame Caesar Salad 2. General Lee's Fried Chicken 3. 'Chopped Cheese' Rice Cakes 4. The Legendary Cheeseburger Drink 1. Golden, which consisted of whiskey, citron marmalade, bitters 2. Rock The Bells which consisted of gin, bell pepper, strawberry, dolin blanc. PS... they have some nifty matchbooks up at the front.

I've charted the rise of Nowon from mere pop up at the Black Emperor Bar in 2019 serving their famous honey butter tater tots, to their successful East Village opening and subsequent Bushwick location in a former pizzeria, whose pizza oven they inherited, and have been a fan all the way. Sweet and savory is not new to most people these days, but when Koreans put honey butter chips and tots on the map it was still novel, and that sealed its place as a great eatery for me. I don't eat red meat, but you should know they're known for their burger and chopped cheese rice cakes, which everyone I've introduced them to has sung the praises of. Their Bushwick location with the aforementioned pizza oven they were grandfathered into keeping legally, allows them to sling some pretty solid pies, including one with gochuchang, mozzarella, chili oil, and basil, and another with pepperoni, scallion, and sesame seeds. Decor wise, they went for a cross between industrial canteen and museum, with neon back lit art framing the dining area in a really cool way. Great for a casual Saturday night hang.

Random Sunday fun day ended at this place for grub. This spot has been bookmarked for awhile and I was finally in closer to Bushwick to finally go. It has friendly, no frills, but still cute vibe. On the table, The whipped yuzu ricotta toast- Cheese & bread, of course it was good Korean friend chicken- a bit spicy but very good Shrimp fried rice- she ate it all! lol There are a couple items on the menu that I want to try, so I'll definitely be back.

Rice cakes and pizza was amazing! Chicken was good too. Cocktails were tasty. Servers were nice and super helpful. Food came out fast. The interior design is a lot of fun. Tall ceilings, moody lights, small-but-not-too-small tables. Music videos play on the wall but it's not too distracting. Definitely come try it out--whether if you are experienced or new to Korean food.

Perfect date night spot! My girlfriend and I split the caesar salad, yuzu ricotta toast, broccolini, and tater tots. I only got a picture of the ricotta toast because we ate everything else so fast!! The caesar salad was seriously one of the best I've ever had, and I'd go back just for that. The host, Paula, was also the sweetest person ever!! She's such a gem!! They also had complimentary coat check which was such a nice touch for the winter. I'm excited to go back!

The menu is pretty diverse with various appetizers, sushi, and also ramen/curry so your standard izakaya fare. One of my favorite dishes here has been the chirashi. The fish was very fresh and it's pretty affordable. I've only ever been here in groups of two and I probably would recommend it for smaller groups because the space itself is small and most of the tables are two-seaters if I recall correctly.

It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.
