I love me a no-frills neighborhood stop serving large portions of Peruvian comfort food. Bring your biggest posse--there's plenty of room. Feast on the following: - Croquetas: Crispy and stuffed with potatoes and spicy chicken - Arroz Chaufa: A delightfully toasty egg and vegetable fried rice large enough to feed three people. Siiiiii - Wok-charred Green Beans: Complete with ginger-garlic sauce and chilies, the capsaicin will make your tongue sing the happiest canson - Lomo Saltado: Everyone's favorite meat and potatoes dish from ther Southern Hemisphere, and for good reason. What's not to love about perfectly tender stir-fried beef and fries mixed with tomatoes and onions in a delectable soy-vinegar sauce? - Half Chicken: Or whole chicken, depending on how many you are. You'll enjoy the juiciness and refuse to share the skin. That's a good thing. - Yuca Frita: One of the better versions I've had in a long time. Perfectly crispy but not too dry, and plenty of sticks so everyone can fill up. For dessert, we caved and got the only one they had: Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet. Absolutely not Peruvian in any way, but it'd been a long week and the cookie tasted damn good. No regrets, esp since it was served a la mode with black sesame caramel and dulce de leche. I also went basic and got the Yuzu Pisco Sour because who doesn't effing love this combo of flavors? Only psychopaths, that's who. Or if you're the designated driver, get the Ume Spritz for a reasonable facsimile sans ethanol. The place was packed on a Friday night, so arrive on the early side if you want to play it safe. But don't play it safe with your menu choices. Get it all.

Everyone raves about the Rotisserie Chicken and they were all right. It was moist and well seasoned. Other menu items were cooked to perfection. Jalea, crispy, large portion and not salty. Chopped salad we ordered 2 one for the table and one for my dinner. Yuca fries, well prepared and fried to perfection. Potato croquettes reminded me of my childhood dinner memories. Chocolate chip cookie dessert warm and yummy. Excellent customer service Small interior Recommend reservation

Went on a Wednesday night with a reservation but seems like it would be very easy to walk in. The service was nice, knowledgable and quick. The chicken is clearly the star, it's the ideal rotisserie-style chicken. So tender and the skin was seasoned perfectly. Worth getting extra aji verde, it's great with the chicken and fries. The caesar was a good starter, perfect size to share among 4 people. The dessert is definitely worth it here. Get an extra scoop of ice cream on the cookie. I'd recommend this place for an unfussy weeknight outing or a fun start to a night out in the Williamsburg area.

I went today I ordered the lo mien with chicken and it was delicious. I had the lager beer as well. I also took food home last week. I was great. I definitely will be coming here often. Service was great and the restaurant is clean.

We came here on a Friday night and it was super busy of course, so I definitely recommend making reservations ahead of time. The space is small but it surprisingly didn't feel like all the diners were sitting on top of each other. I got the lomo saltado which was absolutely delicious- no complaints. We also got the wok charred green beans to share which were super yummy- spicy and oh so savory. My lychee martini was super strong and yummy as well. My dining partner enjoyed his ribs combo meal overall, his only complaint was that the fried rice was cold.

YUM, YUM, YUM! It's been a long time since I've dined at a restaurant that had me going "hmmmmm" throughout the entire meal. We showed up early on a Sunday evening without a reservation, and they still managed to squeeze us in. We started with the sesame Caesar, and it was absolutely PERFECT beautifully dressed with just the right amount of savory, acidic dressing, and the sesame-saltine crumbles added an ideal bit of texture. The vegetable lo mein was also excellent: nicely salty from the soy sauce without being greasy, and the vegetables tasted fresh with a satisfying bite. But the ribs were the undeniable star of the night. They had a wonderful smoky flavor, perfect tenderness, and that sticky, delicious sauce that makes you want to lick your fingers clean. The price point was very reasonable for both the quality of the food and the area. If I lived closer, this would definitely be a spot I'd visit often.

i definitely looked forward to this visit but i hyped up my own expectations a little too much :/ Johnny's overall is a great concept but definitely a little different from traditional peruvian food. Everything was super tasted and well cooked, except our second 1/4 chicken was cooked poorly. Loved the sauce and dessert! Super tasty!!! Cocktails were not super sweet and the crushed ice just killed the drink for myself. Bartenders we're somewhat attentive but definitely busy. Bartenders were kind and somewhat attentive. Super cool place but not my favorite

Happened to be nearby at McCarren Park and wanted to go for dinner. I saw the restaurant recently opened up in the neighborhood and was super intrigued - can't say no to Peruvian Chinese "chifa cuisine". The name Johnny's is unassuming but the food delivers. We got the half chicken combo and Lomo Saltado between three adults. Bonus that the restaurant offers highchairs for the littlest ones. Lomo Saltado was seasoned just the right amount. Not over the top and the sauce with the fries was delicious. The beef was tender and tomatoes were sweet and juicy. As for the chicken, they got it right - not dry but off the bone tender, even the chicken breast. We got the fried rice as recommended by the staff and no complaints. The space is new and provides a casual high end diner vibe if that makes any sense. I'd come back to try the other dishes and cocktails but wouldn't hesitate to order the same things.

    Side piece of chicken, quarter
    James S.

I ordered delivery from DoorDash. It was okay. I ordered the quarter chicken with vegetable fried rice, another quarter chicken, and a side of fries. The chicken was good but I wouldn't use the word "standout" like in the Yelp description. It just tasted like normal rotisserie chicken that you would get in the supermarket. Pieces weren't that big either. They gave me a wing and a thigh for my side piece instead of a drumstick and thigh.

Great new neighborhood spot! This building's ground floor was vacant/closed for a while (I think a few years?), so I'm happy to see it filled with a spot I would return to. Most importantly, the food: 1. Rotisserie Chicken: Read another review that said it was excellent, and it did not disappoint! Super flavorful, great seasoning and moist. Would order again. 2. Wok-charred greens: These were listed as seasonal, and feeling adventurous we just ordered without asking. I think it was savoy cabbage - perfectly cooked and delicious as well - had the seared flavor from the wok without burn marks. 3. Veggie Lo Mein: Tasty. Slightly more liquid than I'd prefer, but would order again. Service was quick and friendly. There are a few other things I wanted to try on the next outing. Highly recommended!

THIS PLACE IS DELICIOUS!!! My sister and I went to grab a bite before an event and ordered apps and drinks but I wish we stayed longer. The woman who greeted us was so warm and welcoming and so was our waitress. Food came out hit and flavorful. I live in NJ but I'll be making my way back here to order more.

Easy 5 stars! I had the opportunity to go to tonight and I know I'll be a repeat customer. First off, we walked in without a reservation and were seated immediately. The staff were so nice and helpful. They really guided us in ordering enough food without ordering way too much. And, the food....my word. The flavors on the chicken and ribs... the unique and wonderful salad... everything was amazing! The restaurant itself is cute. I love that you can see into the kitchen! This is most certainly the best new restaurant in Williamsburg.

5 stars because the sesame Caesar salad, vibe, service, and prices were perfect. 4 stars for the entrees (short ribs and lomo saltado) and drink (oo la-la). Overall very satisfying meal for the price and excited to come back and try the rest of the menu. Came in the Saturday after Thanksgiving around 7 and got a seat for two at the bar right away.

The menu is pretty diverse with various appetizers, sushi, and also ramen/curry so your standard izakaya fare. One of my favorite dishes here has been the chirashi. The fish was very fresh and it's pretty affordable. I've only ever been here in groups of two and I probably would recommend it for smaller groups because the space itself is small and most of the tables are two-seaters if I recall correctly.

It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.
