Including us, there were a handful of patrons for a good 30 minutes or so & then the place began to fill up. The Happy Hour is what lured us in; we ordered the deviled eggs and the chips & dip... would recommend both as staple starters. The HH hours, I've gotta say are pretty solid - Monday thru Friday, from open till 6:30pm... and this is the best part - Saturday & Sunday, from open til 5:30pm! C'mon, that's pretty cool. I wouldn't mind if they added another cocktail to their HH, though I did get the LA DRAGONA with tequila, mango nectar, aji amarillo salt rim (spicy). It's ten bucks. I found Johnny's through an influencer and decided to check it out while in Williamsburg. It's a Chinese Peruvian spot known for its rotisserie chicken, and I also noticed they've been featured in quite a few publications and magazines, which was pretty neat. They do accept walk-ins, but if you're coming on a weekend, I would suggest trying to make a reservation since it can get busy. There's indoor seating, but I didn't see any outdoor seating when I visited. For food, we started with the croquet, which were really good. They reminded me of a deep fried round dumpling with a crispy exterior and chicken filling inside. Of course, we had to try the rotisserie chicken since that's one of their specialties. We ordered the combo, where you can choose sides such as fried rice, white rice, salad or fries. We also ordered the lomo saltado, and this was one of my favorites. It comes with stir fried beef, tomatoes, onions, fries, a soy vinegar based sauce and rice. The beef was incredibly tender, the flavors worked really well together, and the portion was generous. Last but definitely not least - The chocolate chip cookie skillet. It was only dessert on the menu and comes with vanilla ice cream, black sesame caramel, and dulce de Leche. Omg, this was so good. Quality food, a simple but thoughtfully curated atmosphere, superb staff, and reasonable prices make Johnny's a place I fell in love with upon my first visit and had me already thinking about my next one. Peruvian pollo alla brasa has to be one of my most favorite things to eat, and Johnny's delivers with a juicy, generous rotisserie chicken that doesn't break the bank and can hang with the best of them. Served with a small salad and fried rice, a combo is perfect for sharing and will leave you full if you order their crispy and delicious fried yucca or another accompaniment. The service was A+ across the board and I was very happy with our server who was kind and went above and beyond. I felt at home and the family pictures that lined the walls of the restaurant added to that warmth and the restaurant is extremely clean. Williamsburg is beyond lucky to have an establishment that serves simple and delicious food with such a friendly atmosphere where your dollar seems to go much farther in the neighborhood. This was my first time trying this relatively new Peruvian-Chinese fusion spot in Williamsburg. It has a casual diner vibe and was busy on the Friday night I went. The spare rib combo plate I ordered was good, however the fried rice served with it was only slightly warm. Not sure if it was premade or left out while the spare ribs were bring prepared. The Aji verde sauce served on the side added a creamy and spicy touch to the dish. I also shared an order of wok-charred green beans with my fellow guest and enjoyed it. The beans have a nice savory taste (douchi is added to this dish) and the red chilies added a nice spicy kick. My drink to go along with the meal was a Yuzu Pisco Sour frozen cocktail. The flavor was refreshing and it had a good amount of alcohol. I would probably come back and try their other dishes, including their Lomo Saltado. Went on a Wednesday night with a reservation but seems like it would be very easy to walk in. The service was nice, knowledgable and quick. The chicken is clearly the star, it's the ideal rotisserie-style chicken. So tender and the skin was seasoned perfectly. Worth getting extra aji verde, it's great with the chicken and fries. The caesar was a good starter, perfect size to share among 4 people. The dessert is definitely worth it here. Get an extra scoop of ice cream on the cookie. YUM, YUM, YUM! It's been a long time since I've dined at a restaurant that had me going "hmmmmm" throughout the entire meal. We showed up early on a Sunday evening without a reservation, and they still managed to squeeze us in. We started with the sesame Caesar, and it was absolutely PERFECT beautifully dressed with just the right amount of savory, acidic dressing, and the sesame-saltine crumbles added an ideal bit of texture. The vegetable lo mein was also excellent: nicely salty from the soy sauce without being greasy, and the vegetables tasted fresh with a satisfying bite. But the ribs were the undeniable star of the night. They had a wonderful smoky flavor, perfect tenderness, and that sticky, delicious sauce that makes you want to lick your fingers clean. It also come with a nice small side salad. The rotisserie chicken is nicely spiced and comes a 1/4, 1/2 or whole chicken. My wife chose fried rice. They serve one dessert, a chocolate chip cookie in a small cast-iron pan that is warm and not too sweet with sesame sauce and ice cream on top. Everything is delicious and priced well.
