Very cool restaurant/bar in the basement of the CODA hotel. We met some friends here for drinks before walking to a wedding a few blocks away and it was the perfect way to start the night. The space is honestly 10/10. We had friends staying in the hotel for the night and everyone was saying they would have to come back from breakfast before they take off. It was cool, trendy, comfortable. Plenty of tables if you were sitting down for a meal and lots of space at the bar if you were meeting up with a group just for drinks. Cocktails were amazing! I am nothing if not a sucker for a great cocktail menu and they had a great list here. I tried the Oolongtini and loveeeed it. If you like an espresso martini, this is honestly even better. Between that and the Green Snake (mescal & lime), I can vouch that cocktails here are delicious. A great spot for drinks & probably din. read more

Really beautiful restaurant. Coming in to the sunken seating area reminded me of an elegant ballroom (probably because it is attached to a hotel) and the seating was well-spaced unlike other NY restaurants where you are basically brushing up against the table next to you. We walked in with no reservation and I really appreciated the full separate page of vegan/vegetarian options on the menu. The mala mushrooms, firm tofu, and ma po tofu were all very good. Service was fast, and the prices were not unreasonable. The drinks (oolong-tini) were asian inspired and extremely tasty and paired well with the sichuan food. This place is related to ChiLi in St Marks- this location has a whole vegan section of the menu!!! We got mapo tofu, cold noodles, veggie dumplings, and scallion pancake. Everything was pretty good. My experience with Adam Fu, who identified himself as the co-owner of this establishment, was disappointing due to several issues after the agreement. The communication during planning was not thorough; I faced inaccuracies and unexpected charges. For example, the contract did not reflect the correct guest count even after written confirmation, and the receipt showed an incorrect deposit amount, leading to confusion and overpayment. There was also an undisclosed automatic 20% gratuity, which was not disclosed at the time of contract signing, resulting in a 2k+ extra charge on the night of the event, making budgeting difficult. The external vendor fee was higher than disclosed. We requested refunds for these discrepancies but received no response. Overall, poor communication and lack of transparency outweighed any initiative the vendor may have offered. read more

Came here with two of my friends yesterday . What a beautiful restaurant, I felt like I could sit there all night. The decor is so inviting and it's a great chill spot for a date or just to listen to jazz with a cocktail and small bites. I was lucky enough to be there last night Thursday night for their Jazz performance which was super nice to have while enjoying cocktails and a meal with friends. The service staff was attentive and on point here. We started off with the mouthwatering chicken. Not too spicy but very flavorful one of my favorites of the night . Then the entrees came out we ordered the garlic shrimp, the tea smoked duck with sticky rice and the spicy soft shell crab. My favorite was the spicy soft shell crab perfect crisp texture, nice flavor and a nice amount of veggies. The garlic shrimp had nice flavor but I would've liked more garlic. Loved this place! Beautiful, spacious interior with great food. With both a private-ish room and buyout options, it would be great for a party. I loved the menu options - tons of really great choices. Highlights were the Mr. And Mrs. smith appetizer (sliced beef and tripe, usually called husband and wife at other restaurants), the braised beef tendon (omg must get this), and the dry pot cabbage (simple but so delicious and packed with flavor). The ginger and scallion lobster was also cooked very well. The celery shoots and savory tofu was pretty average but glad we got it as it helped offset the spice from the other dishes. Our least favorite dish was the golden garlic tofu - it wasn't bad and was honestly fried well but needed more flavor - maybe a dipping sauce (also see my photos compared to the website photo a do not look similar at all). Ahhhhh, not that great. Beautiful dining room. Nice three piece band and vocalist. But, the food is "Meh". We ordered the ginger lobster ($60). There want one decent sized chunk of lobster. I would say the lobster was 1 pound but even the claws had only skinny and rather tasteless meat Every other part of the lobster was a chore to Excavate and as I said almost not worth the effort. Also had the tea duck with sticky rice. The duck meat was flat like it was shaved and the rice was unfortunately "old". The interior is beautiful! Feels very premium and seating is plush. I'm all for another upscale Sichuan restaurant in the area. It's quite similar to Antidote, but the portions are a bit smaller/ more pricey. I enjoyed the dry pot cabbage and truffle beef (though this was very expensive). The crab tofu had a bit too much corn starch for my liking. They have a really nice bar in the back of the space. However, the drinks menu looked pretty normal so I didn't get any. read more

Do not plan an event here! We reserved the rooftop for wedding photos and they double booked the event space. We also paid for a post wedding brunch and they ghosted us that morning! Not even an email to let us know they were canceling the breakfast. The restaurant was closed!!! Can you imagine the CHAOS this caused on my daughters wedding weekend!! All of this was prepaid with an executed contract! No sign of a refund. Stay away from these awful business owners!!! Red Flags everywhere. read more

A newly opened Szechuan restaurant in Williamsburg with beautiful interior design. The food came out fairly quickly and the price wasn't overly expensive either. Dan Dan noodles: Very flavorful. A little different from the peanutty Dan Dan noodles I'm used to but it was still very good. If you like your Dan Dan noodles with more hint of soy sauce than peanut butter, then you'd like this one. Cumin lamb: One of the better cumin lamb that I've had from Szechuan restaurants in NYC. It had the perfect mix of spicy and salty with just the right amount of cumin. The lamb was also tender without tasting like it had been soaked in baking soda beforehand. Tea smoked duck fried rice: I'm usually a huge duck lover, but I didn't feel anything special about this duck. The fried rice was good but nothing amazing. Still for only $16, I would say it was worth ordering. Dry pot cabbage: Yummy and flavorful. Can't go wrong with cabbage! Steamed bass: I like how the meat just slid off the bones because I've had steamed fish from other restaurants where I had to pick the bones off the fish. The ginger, scallion, and soy sauce blended very well with the fish. I also appreciated how much meat was on the fish - we had 7 of us and there was plenty of meat for all of us to share! Overall, I would give this place a 4.5/5. Next time I'm in Williamsburg, I'd definitely come back to try their other dishes on the menu! read more

Solid Sichuan focused restaurant with one of the largest vegan menus in the city. Contrary to what you might expect based on how the ambiance appears in photos and the location in the heart of N. Williamsburg's cluster of hotel clubsteraunts, in reality Meili feels more like a neighborhood eatery, and the prices are reasonable. We tried a sampling of classic entrees, including a very solid eggplant dish and crispy tofu, which was similar to hong-shau tofu. I love the ambiance and like the growing upscale Sichuan food scene. We had a party of 10 and were seated in a semi-private room which was very nice. As for drinks, I thought their cocktails were average and ran sweeter. I liked the food, but lots of the sauces were very sweet and too starchy for my liking. Al lot of the dishes also relied on too many Sichuan peppercorns so they were numbing without a ton of other seasoning. The bokchoy was perfect and light. The dan dan noodles were well coated in sauce. The whole fish was perfectly deboned but the sauce was very sweet and contained peas that were not fully cooked. The cumin lamb was solid and well made. I did like that this spot had ample vegetarian and vegan options. Overall, good variety and service but perhaps less traditional with some preparations. read more

However, while the food was generally well-executed, it didn't quite justify the premium pricing, especially given the smaller portion sizes compared to nearby competitors like Birds of a Feather and Antidote. Came here for dinner the other night, and was able to get seated right away. We had hoped to be able to check out the rooftop, but it was closed for a private event. The menu is quite extensive with options for meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans alike. The service was very good and the items we ordered were pretty good and came quickly, The space itself is pretty, but the bathroom was not clean at all and it really threw off the space for me. I don't know that I would go out of my way to come here again (unless I'm able to check out the rooftop). read more

Meili just opened in Williamsburg, and wow--it's a must-visit! The flavors are bold, the vibes are modern, and the dishes are amazing. We had the Truffle Beef, and it was so tender. The mapo lobsters is also so yummy. For our plant-based friends, the Kung Pao Vegan Chicken is a winner-- flavorful, and seriously addictive. Lots of vegan menu available. The food was pretty flavorful and yummy! Really liked the cold sesame noodles, eggplant dish and the truffle beef tenderloin. We got the tea smoked sticky rice dish but the rice wasn't really sticky. Unfortunately the portions were kinda small. A few of us were still hungry after. We came as a party of 7 and the bill came out to be about $320 (4 people got beers). This beautiful new Szechuan restaurant is located downstairs of the Coda Hotel. The space is gorgeous - warm wooden tones, soft gold and emerald green accents - with super high ceilings. It feels very chic and trendy, but also very zen. I dined at Meili with a large group and got to try a bunch of different dishes. Everything was delicious and while I'm not an expert of the cuisine, it tasted authentic but also innovative at the same time. Of the appetizers, the group really enjoyed the Cucumber Salad and got multiple orders of it, but I particularly liked the Tiger Salad which had green chili peppers, scallion, onion, cilantro with a sesame vinaigrette. Other favorites for the group were the Mung Bean Jelly and the Dandan noodles. For the entrees, anytime I see Chungking Spicy Chicken, I need to get it. Meili does a great rendition of it. However, I especially loved the Spicy Soft Shell Crab and Braised Beef Tendon - the flavors, the textures... so good. We also got the Fish Blossom and Shredded Beef with Green Chili, both of which were solid. The service was very kind and accommodating. We had a toddler with us, and they provided a high chair as well as a plastic spoon, bowl and a covered cup of water with a straw without us even asking for it. Horrible experience. Food was okay but customer service was abysmal. 70 minutes after being seated with a party of 5 we asked for a desert menu. Our server denied us desert and told us that the restaurant was busy and that it was time for us to leave. Their published policy states "90 minutes or longer for large parties." We were well under that time limit. We shared this concern with the manager and were finally offered deserts, complimentary. However we were charged anyway. Will never here re again and strong suggest that others be alerted in advance to this customer service deficiency. read more

I stayed at the Coda Hotel and I stopped here for a bite before I left and I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was gorgeous and it made me forget where I was for a moment. I love the dark interior and the bold yet subtle tableware. The service was fast paced and friendly and the food was delicious and felt very authentic. I really enjoyed the Beef Pancake Wrap, the tender beef wrapped in a flaky scallion pancake was delightful and the sauce makes it a perfect bite. I'll definitely be back to order that again. The martini was very refreshing and I loved the fresh lychee garnish and the chicken dumplings were well cooked and tasty. I really liked this place, I would come for a solo date a date night, a bday or a girls night. It feels like a Manhattan vibe in Williamsburg. Highly recommend. read more

The pork was extremely unique and tasteful without being overly spicy. Good quality tofu - I'd spice it up for next time. The noodles and small dishes were perfect. Bean sprouts weren't overly oiled. We had room blocks at the CODA Williamsburg for my sister's wedding this weekend and rented out Meili for pre-wedding family photos and post-wedding brunch. There was an executed contract in place and payment made. When all extended family members from both sides of the wedding went to the rooftop that we had reserved from 1:30-3:30, they mistakenly double booked it with a child's birthday party and would not let us inside so there was nowhere to take photos. The staff was cold and unapologetic. We had to shove everyone into one hotel room and sit there for 2 hours fully dressed and ready. We couldn't get up to the rooftop until around 3:15, causing us to be rushed and late for the wedding. Once we were finally inside, the bride and groom asked for a glass of wine in a full wedding dress and tux. You would think this would be on the house (and that they would offer for the rest of the family) but they tried charging them almost $40. No smiles, no apologies and completely stone cold. On Sunday morning when we went for the brunch, the restaurant was fully closed and they had not gotten in touch with our family about cancelling the brunch. We had to go to a local deli and buy a bunch of breakfast sandwiches and coffees and eat in the hotel lobby instead. The whole thing was an absolute disaster and still, no one has been in touch to apologize or issue a refund. Truly unbelievable. Safe to say, we would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

My family and I had an awesome experience at Meili. Stepping into Meili feels like entering a stylish, modern Sichuan dining lounge. The ambiance is upscale but not pretentious, perfect for date night or a chic group gathering. We had Braised Tofu with Crab Meat , Fish Blossom, Smoked Duck Fried Rice, Lobster, Garlic Shrimp, Kung bao chicken... Every dish was delicious!! The cocktail Jasmine Crush was refreshing and paired really well with food. The staffs were warm and attentive. My niece lost her tiny little Bobbie doll comb, and they were trying hard to help us look for it under the table near our seats. :)) Highly recommend this Sichuan restaurant! read more

Came here with my girls for her birthday. Had some kind of expectation coming here based on the fancy interior. Did not expect the restaurant to be underground of an apt/hotel. Once you sit down, it kind of reminded me of being in cancun. You get that smell of damp wood mixed with an artificial hotel fragrance trying to mask the smell. Everything we had there was very mediocre and everyone thought the flavor profile was not very authentic and was very catered to non Asian customers. We ordered 2 types of noodles the Dan Dan and the Sichuan cold noodle and when it came, it was served in a small what could have been a rice bowl. With sauce sitting on the bottom it was impossible to mix, I would recommend they reevaluate their plating because never have I ordered a Dan Dan noodle anywhere else and have it served to me in a small bowl. The cold chicken appetizer was SOOO salty we could barely eat it and chicken was so dry. Waiters never came to ask us how was the food. We ordered the overly priced Lobster tofu dish and lobster did not taste fresh at all. We're Asian, we know! For the price it was ridiculous. The only decent thing we ate was the pork belly appetizer. Everything else was not even worthy of a picture. We had another Asian couple sit behind us and we realized they barely touched any of the food they ordered too and mostly took everything to go and they looked like they didn't enjoy the food either. For a better and more authentic alternative in the area, Antidote is way better. read more

The restaurant is beautiful. But the service is definitely lackluster. They have a lot of staff working, but they are super disorganized. The staff is just running around all over the restaurant with no really clear direction. You could never find anyone when you need them. Even though they have so many staff members working and so many servers, we had to wait forever just to get refills on our drink, we had to wait to get chopsticks and napkins. I pack several times. They would literally only give you one napkin, even though we were a party of five and we needed several napkins. They definitely were not attentive. They brought out the dinner entrees at different times even though it was a table of five and we were dining together. This is definitely not ideal for one or two people to be starting their meal 10 minutes before other people. Their descriptions on the menu is not accurate to the actual meals. One of the fish dishes was supposed to be a ginger fish dish and it was literally no ginger. It was very disappointing. All of the meals, the lobster, the crab, the shrimp, the fish and the lamb. All of them were just high levels of sodium. It was excessively salty with no real distinctive flavors. All in all the food I would give a 0 because it's really bad and the service I would give about 1 and the ambience in the restaurant, I would give them a good 8/10. I will not be returning because I value my time out by Indulging in good food. read more

Went there with group of friends on a Saturday, the food there were amazing! I feel like the food taste like I'm back to China! All my friends love it! They also have a bar that serves all different drinks, from cocktails, to bottles. The atmosphere there gives us the high end restaurant feel. We will sure go back again!
