Recette was charming and quiet but still lively on a late afternoon Friday. The vibe was European cute, and Enis was super attentive. Without us asking, he brought over extra bread to accompany our lamb tartare. He also gave us complimentary espresso martini shots when we were too full for dessert. We ordered the lamb tartare, French Onion soup, and burger. The lamb tartare was great (especially combined with the salt flakes and sauce, which brought out the lamb flavor in a light way). The French Onion soup was flavorful but light, and the burger (European style) and fries were delicious. The cocktails were interesting. We'd love to come back and try the mussels and creme brulee! read more

Recette - French Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

After passing by several times, my sis and I decided to have an impromptu happy hour. The interior is decorated with flowers at each table. You're transported to a garden like environment. The staff seemed welcoming as we decided on whether we wanted to sit indoors or out. We shared a cocktail, two HH dishes, an appetizer, and a dessert. Cocktail- Oui, Madamemoiselle is dangerously delicious. It's so palatable and berry tasty. HH dishes - escargot and the steak tartare. Buttery snails is my jam, and steak tartare was deliciously smooth and great with toast. Appetizer - mussels were good and cooked in a white wine sauce. Delicious to sip or eat with baguette. Dessert - we ended the HH time with a cardamom Panna Cotta. The flavors tasted light, felt like it could use a punch or two. read more

Came here for happy hour, ended up with probably a full dinner. The food was just so good! The staff were also very hospitable bringing us additional bread a few times for the mussels and escargot. Recette is a bit on the pricey side, but a nice treat and great ambiance. I look forward to coming again and trying the other menu items! read more

Ate brunch here, the food was delicious! I asked for salt and pepper and did not even need it!! Service is hands off which was nice I enjoyed my drink and then they took my food order. When the food came I got another drink. High recommend the Rising Sun!! The restaurant is spacious and we sat out on the patio there was a space heater near the table that kept the temperature nice. read more

Food was pretty good. I liked the mussels and escargot the best. The chocolate lava cake wasn't that good. There was no texture to it, just felt like mush and there was also no melt in the middle. Hibiscus drink was good. Service was a bit on the slower side. They messed up my matcha drink but changed it immediately after I told them. Ambiance was great, love the decor. Very nicely decorated with lights. read more

Light brunch fare and great drinks. We visited Recette on a Saturday afternoon for brunch, and it was mostly full. There is limited seating, but both indoor and outdoor tables available. The tables are closely packed, there were fresh flowers at every table, and the floor has a fun black and white pattern. I tried the old fashioned Recette to drink, and the kale and Brussels salad. The old fashioned had a phenomenal blend of flavors. The salad was maybe a bit heavy on the dressing, but the flavors complemented each other well. The portion is small though. Overall, I had a great experience at Recette and would highly recommend them for a light brunch in Brooklyn. read more

Recette is a gem In Williamsburg. We came here on a whim for lunch and Osmond took care of everything which made us feel so special. From their signature cocktails to the menu, everything was simply top-notch, and I cannot for the life of me have anything but praise for the establishment and the staff. I highly recommend this little corner spot and you should procrastinate too long. Super laid back yet beautiful setting. read more

Went here on a Friday afternoon and was extremely impressed. The croque monsieur was phenomenal, and the salad had delicious and tangy dressing. Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean, bright and welcoming. Would come back in a heartbeat read more

Food was delicious, everyone I was with enjoyed what we ordered. The inside of the restaurant is so cute and they also have a covered and uncovered outside area. The service was a fantastic. I ended leaving my phone accidentally and had to pick it up later. They had it waiting for me and even charged it. I think the only reason for not being 5 stars was that it felt a bit pricey for what it is (though like I said delicious!) read more

Wow I'm impressed. This is the best meal we've had in NYC. The peppersteak was so good. The sauce was perfect with Madagascar green peppercorns in the sauce, which most places skip. Nicely cooked and meat was good quality. The onion soup was good too. Soup was tasty, only comment is cheese could be more flavourful, but all still good. Burrata was well done too, fresh pesto was made while we here. Crispy bread... Nice. The berry mocktail was also delicious. Seriously I would eat here often if I lived near here... And the service was outstanding and vibe lovely.... read more

Have been here twice and both times were excellent! We got a few bites that were really high quality, also sampled a few different wines just asking to try before ordering which was really nice and servers were super helpful in guiding us on what to order. The man who dropped plates/cleared them was also really really nice, asked if we wanted salt and pepper then did the serving of it, was just smiling and such a pleasant and lovely energy. It's indoor outdoor seating too which is really nice for any weather. Would def check this place out and I'll be back again! read more

Came for their happy hour - nice vibes and cool layout. Enjoyed the beef tartare, very flavorful and texture was good. Escargot was just ok, the bread (although necessary) was cold and slightly hard. Tried some of the coctails- neat attempt at being innovative but some of the notes didn't pop as much as I would like. read more

It was a Monday night, so quick to be seated. Pretty busy inside, but nothing crazy. But I think there was only one server/bartender and one helper/food runner. There's the rub. Started with the French onion soup, which was decadent, sumptuous, hot, savory, cheesy. Loved it. Made a mess all down my sweater while trying to slurp every last bite. Other starters: steak tartare, escargot, wild mushroom flatbread, octopus, burrata, kale and fennel salad, Cesar salad, mussels, and more. There is also a selection of cheese and charcuterie. For my main, I had the server's recommendation of steak frites. The frites were hot and crispy. The steak was tender and well charred, but the flavor was mediocre. I wish I had gone with the braised short rib cavatelli or the bright primavera pasta (spaghetti, zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, olive oil, garlic). Other mains include mixed mushroom truffle gnocchi, which also looked great, as well as roasted chicken au jus, Branzino, ribeye, and crab cakes. For cocktails I tried the Miss O'Hara, made with passion fruit puree, tequila, mescal, lime juice, and Himalayan salt. Probably one of my favorites. Very flavorful and refreshing. The rising sun, made with vodka, triple sec, white cranberry, lavender, and a hibiscus infused ice ball wasn't bad, but was one of two things: lacking flavor and excitement, or was a minimalist drink made for those looking more for a spirit forward drink with fewer bells and whistles. The three shades of green, made with cucumber, gin, chartreuse, and lemon juice, was a light palate cleanser to close out the night. The meal was fine. But the restaurant needs more staffing. Nothing against the server/bartender and the other staffer helping--they were trying their best. But management, take note. I would come back and try the food and drink again, but the service was so slow, I would hesitate to return. And again, I visited on a Monday night. read more

My friend and I stumbled upon this charming little restaurant and decided to give it a try. We started with the steak tartare and charred octopus--both incredibly fresh and beautifully plated. For our entrees, we went with the Primavera Pasta, which was light and a solid healthy option, but the real star of the meal was the braised short rib cavatelli--rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Easily the best dish of the night! read more

Walking into Recette felt like being transported to France. The ambiance, the service, and attention to detail in the decor made the entire dining experience feel special and intimate. We kicked things off with the Miss O'Hara and Jardin cocktails. Both were delicious, but the Jardin really stood out with its subtle kick. Honestly, all of the appetizers were amazing. It was my first time trying Steak Tartare and Burgundy Escargots--both unique, flavorful, and prepared with care. But the Wild Mushroom Flatbread stole the show for me--rich, earthy, and perfectly balanced. For the main course, I had the Braised Short Rib Cavatelli--10/10. Comforting, bold, and melt in your mouth good. As much as I wanted to try dessert, I'm on a caloric deficit --but trust, I'll be back. Super cute brunch place in Brooklyn! I love, love, loved the vibe sitting in the outdoor patio. The flowers on each table were super pretty-- reminded me of a nice little restaurant in Europe! Service was fast and friendly. I ordered the lobster Benedict, which I really liked. It was the perfect balance of rich and tangy. My friend ordered the Nutella French toast, which was good, but a bit too heavy and sweet for my liking. Honestly, I thought it would be great if there was a regular French toast option on the menu! read more

Had a lovely Friday night dinner here at this cute little French restaurant. The service was great - very attentive waitress and the drinks/food all came out pretty quickly. The interior of the restaurant is small and it was very busy with every seat was taken. The bar was pretty and very well stocked. Our cocktails were great - we had the Jardin, Oui Mademoiselle, and espresso martini's. The menu itself feels a bit limited, but the steak frites with the peppercorn sauce was very good. My husband had the ribeye accompanied by broccolini, roasted garlic, and chimmichuri sauce. Overall, this place was good, but I feel like the prices were a bit steep all things considered. read more

I would love to give this place higher rating as some dishes were superb, but some fall a little flat. Even though we had a reservation, we were given a choice of sitting on the patio or by the bar. We didn't mind the patio. Each table had a very sad looking plastic tulip in a tiny vase and a tiny candle. I was expecting a little more from the French restaurant. I absolutely loved crispy mushroom and cream brûlée. Wagyu burger and onion soup were good, but we had higher expectations and wanted to really enjoy those dishes. Servers were very quick and polite. Overall good experience and I definitely recommend it, but please do something about those plastic flowers. read more

Service here was great! Our server was very kind and accommodating. I also loved that there was live music with jazz tunes playing in the background was a wonder touch. The space is small but cozy. But, we were able to get a same day reservation for the evening on a Friday night. Appetizers: Mushroom flatbread was delicious Octopus seems like it was boiled a bit to long and not charred enough. Branzino was tasty but not deboned well. But the flavors were great. The capers balanced well with the dish. I was told the brussel sprouts were yummy! Cardamom Panna Cotta was SO GOOD! A must try read more

I went to The Consulate on upper east side in Manhattan, couple years ago and I like the food over there so much so the gentleman at that place told me about Recette that is also French restaurant and actually in my neighborhood. I finally came today for brunch. I have lovely drink Oui Mademoiselle: blackberry puree, vodka, rosemary and sparkling wine. I love it so much. French onion soup is great. Pesto Burrata is delicious. Steak and Eggs is good amount for brunch and perfectly cooked. Service is wonderful, active and every server, runner and busser are pay attention to customer, very friendly and polite. Listen, this review is going to be quick. I'm walking by, the sign caught my eye and brought me to Recette. It's sooooo hot outside! $5 bucks for anything cold is a welcomed treat. The restaurant looks really nice. The ice cream machine is outside, I ask the waiter to hook a brother up with some of that dessert we all scream for. The cup? It was the size of a small cup you get at the dentist. A Dixie Cup can kick its ass. Honey on the bottom, soft serve vanilla and sea salt sprinkled on top. Was it good? Hell yes read more

Attentive and friendly service. Food was good but not stellar. Pasta with a short rib ragu was tasty; pasta cooked al dente and sauce was flavorful but not visually exciting. Lamb chops were overcooked on the outside, undercooked inside. Bread pudding slightly dry. Cocktails OK. Fun location. Mixed experience eating outside on the sidewalk as cars parked right next to us! read more

Fabulous meal with quality service. Luca, our server was fantastic, personable and accommodating, and so was every server and staff member we interacted with. Ordered the fennel salad, escargot, mussels (not pictured), octopus. mushroom truffle flatbread, mushroom gnocchi, braised short rib cavatelli and the bronzino. We loved everything--cavatelli, escargot and mussels were our faves. Had no room for dessert unfortunately. Loved the vibe of the restaurant and corner of Havemeyer. This is probably more of a 4.5 than a real 5. With that said I think Recette is a great restaurant. When we went they still had holiday decor which made it super cozy. We went for my husband's birthday dinner and it was also restaurant week. Nothing from the selected restaurant week menu really appealed to us so we ended up sharing appetizers and entrées The appetizers I'd give more of 4.1/2 and the entrées were really 4.8/9. We shared the kale and fennel salad and heirloom tomato burrata. I looove burrata so I wish this was a little creamier but it was great to pair with the salad. The salad was too sour and a little overpowering. For entrées we got were the streak frites and the beef bourguignon. The beef bourguignon was delicious and the fries were crunchy. Overall staff are super attentive and friendly and it would be a very cute date spot. read more

Stopped by for brunch with my brother this afternoon. We chose to sit inside despite no AC but we figured it was better than sitting outside in the sun. We were seated quickly and the waitress took our orders without delay. Surprised that the table water we were served didn't come with ice, especially since it was a relatively warm day. We had the burger and the Recette breakfast, both were good and there was so much food that we couldn't finish either dish. It was a good experience but a little too noisy for us and we would have preferred some iced water and AC. Street parking was plentiful on a Sunday afternoon. read more

This place is just lovely! On our way to a dinner date, my partner and I noticed Recette and we're very interested in the menu. We made a mental note to come back here -- glad we did. Ambiance, service, food - 10/10, easily. My partner is a big fan of FO soup, we read that it contains veal broth -- gosh, it was decadent and delicious. Simultaneously agreed it was one of the best we've ever tasted. Truffle wild mushroom pasta - DELICIOUS. It was rich and creamy. Very satisfying. Short rib cavatelli - Comforting, the ricotta and the short rib goes soooo well together. Creme brulee - pretty good, fairly standard though Will return for brunch read more
