Came here on a Sunday morning after arriving from a cruise. Had to look for someone to sit us down. 4 people , 2 adults &2 kids. Water was brought to the table for 3 my husband had to mention there was a 4th person. One daughter got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich which she loved. Food so bad I had to write a review lmao...this place used to be such a solid place with typical diner food. My partner and I went here on our first date a year ago and had a perfect meal with diner classics - grilled cheese, fries, pancakes, coffee. We just came back again for our anniversary and it is under new management and was honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. I ordered a tuna melt with fries. The cheese was not melted at all and the bread was barely toasted. The fries were decent at least - all 5 of them that were on the plate. We both looked at each other and knew it was gonna be bad when our meals were served on wooden cutting boards instead of plates, lol. Emphasis on "time" because you certainly won't be rushed out of here. Walked in and had to ask where I should sit, rather than being offered a booth. Waited a while to get menus, then again for utensils. There were a few tables near us that were not bussed or cleared. We finally ordered and food came quicker than the rest of our service so that was great. Ordered two eggs over easy, corned beef hash, and extra crispy home fries with rye toast. Eggs were perfectly cooked, home fries were cooked to order. Corned beef hash left some to be desired. I've been going to this spot my whole life. I live 2 blocks away. They have new owner, new wait staff, new menu, new prices. None as good as the previous ones. So sad. The new owners changed a lot of the old stuff. Sometimes changing old to newer doesn't mean better. Updated menu means prices are up to $5 more for the same food. They got rid of the fountain sodas, they have canned sodas now. What kind of diner doesn't have fountain soda? Wait staff is lacking. This is a review that pains me to write. I grew up in this neighborhood and Daisy's used to be the spot. It has completely fallen off. I couldn't believe how bad it got and gave it a few tries before writing this and fully giving up to make sure I didn't just have a couple fluke bad experiences. Frozen TV dinner quality fries, messed up orders, and, to add insult to injury, it's all way overpriced. Go up to 7th and 9th for a proper Brooklyn diner. Two stars is honestly probably too generous but I do have some good old memories here. Daisy's was once great, but it is effectively dead now. RIP to Daisy's. read more
