    Pancake Split
    Vishnu G.

Typical diner food. The breakfast plates are an ok deal - I got the cheese omelette with added mushroom, tomato, spinach, and onions. It came with a small salad (spinach and arugula with some dressing) and a slice of toast. It's a decent portion for the base price of $17, but each vegetable addition is $1 *each* (this isn't clear from the menu). I also tried the pancake split, which sounds a bit more exciting than it is - basically just a pancake with ice cream on top. It's a fun idea. The total bill came to $51 with tax and tip, plenty of food for two.

A solid diner, I love coming here for date night. This is not your standard diner -- it reflects the neighborhood in the elevated vibe. I'm a fan of the French toast and the matzoh ball soup. Lots of families come here. Can be hard to get a table on a weekend night. My recommendation is to come for lunch!

stumbled across this spot just walking on montague street. What a cute hidden gem. The feel of the place is warm and cozy and I was greeted right when I walked in. Sat at a booth and enjoyed the eggs plate (eggs over medium with bacon - which was perfectly chewy and crispy) & a waffle. I might go on the record and say that this waffle is the best i've had in nyc...?? My server Sarah was really sweet and gave me the run down of choices to be made and i'm so glad I went with the waffle over the pancakes!! Although... i'm sure they are great too. Will absolutely be back and don't sleep on this diner!!

This classic basement level diner in Brooklyn is such a gem. We wandered in for brunch and were immediately seated at the counter and greeted by Peyton, who was incredibly attentive our whole visit despite the crowd. We enjoyed latkes and matzo ball soup, which were both fresh and well received post party hangover from the evening before. The crowd in the diner was mixed, from families to trendy kids, to a 50s themed birthday party. It's definitely not frilly, but the fast pace and crowded space made our first diner experience in the city super memorable and fun!

Thankful my friend was organised and made a reservation ahead of time. We were seated in the booth which kind of felt a bit squishy for three adults. The food was pretty good though. I was also able to swap out roast potatoes for tater tots, made my son very happy! Will definitely be coming back here again when I'm in the area. It's a solid brunch place!

Have only been going to Montague Diner recently but I have been loving every visit. So much so that I brought my wife for brunch the day after I tried it for the first time. The ambience is quintessential classic diner and the food and service goes above and beyond. What a neighborhood staple.

Such a cute diner! You feel like you're transported in time! They offer breakfast all day along with some salads, sandwiches, milkshakes and typical diner food! I opted for the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The soup was so smol and I wish it was a little larger. The grilled cheese was exactly what I needed on a hungover Sunday. My boyfriend got the mozzarella sticks and the patty melt. Food is average, no complaints. You should stick to breakfast here and soak up the old nyc diner charm.

Really excellent. The grilled cheese and tomato soup were so great, and the pancakes were perfect for our kids. (One order was more than enough for them.) We also loved the latkes. Probably a bit behind S&P on the new-ish diner list for me, but this was excellent in its own right.

You want nostalgia, good food, great service, and just a general vibe: come to Montague Diner. Drinks were refreshing to wash down some delicious diner classics. Also shoutout to whoever was on the AUX, unreal playlist that set the base to a lovely dining experience.

This place is a vibe. The interior is on point with a modern yet classic diner appeal. The food is a little pricey, but pretty good overall. The montague burger comes with a deliciously smokey bacon that sets the tone for said burger and their fries are your typical diner fries with a light coating for extra crunch.

Steak and eggs and eggs over easy. Missing from this picture is the chimmichuri sauce, but that came out a few seconds later.

We made a rezzy for brunch Saturday at noon and our table was ready without any delay. The restaurant itself is sort of an updated, retro diner vibe, spacious, not super cramped, with small booths along one side and countertop seating on the other. The menu is stocked with standard diner dishes, and the ones we got were delicious. I got two eggs over easy with turkey, bacon, home fries, and toast while my husband got the steak and eggs with chimichurri sauce. My food was all cooked and seasoned well (some actually over easy eggs for once!) while my husband's steak was cooked perfectly and very well seasoned too. One of the best chimmichuri sauces I've had in a long time. His eggs were also exactly to order. Service was super efficient and friendly. I would absolutely visit again for another meal and look forward to doing so.

The pancakes are amazing!!! Really fluffy w a slight crisp. So delicious. Wld skip the cold brew - just drip over ice and quite watered down for me

Great server and yummy pancakes. Cute retro vibes with fun upbeat instrumental music. Feels like you're somewhere way out of the hustle & bustle of the actual in walking distance Atlantic Ave. Nice selection of hot teas.

After a fun drink off their menu I got a scotch. Old Putney 12 year. After a long day of travel, we just needed something good. We arrived and they accommodated us in a back booth tucked behind the bar, perfect! Our waiter was a delight and very responsive. The martini was kick-ass and our waiter was kind enough to offer us many recommendations. We landed on Charbroiled Oysters, Steak Tartare, and French Onion Dip. Someone slap me, I'm drooling while I write this review over a year later. Seriously, phenomenal. Every bite was amazing! We cleared the table and manged a few cocktails during our time with The Spaniard. If you are ever in the West Village, stop by, you won't be sorry! Thanks me later, actually!

The highlights for me were the wild mushrooms & rice cakes as well as the Caesar salad - loved the use of nori in the salad and would definitely come back for the mushrooms. The chicken cutlet and chicken dumplings were fine but I probably wouldn't order them again. The wait staff weren't super attentive nor super warm, but they were efficient when we asked for water refills, etc. There was ample standing room at the bar while we waited for our friends, but the table/booth that we sat at was super narrow, I was knocking knees with my friend all night and generally felt squished.

Not surprising, then, that it was pretty packed by the time we finished dinner, at 10:30ish. Serptentine has a solid cocktail list, one that definitely reflects the West Village sensibility. The drinks are all clear variations of classics (ie., martini, negroni, espresso martini, margarita, old fashioned, etc.) but with some added intrigue. All well-executed and made efficiently, which is very impressive during weekend primetime. If you're not nearby I wouldn't make a trip to the area just for Serpentine, but it's a fantastic option if you live/work in the neighborhood and/or are getting a meal in the area and are looking for a bar to start or end at. As I mentioned, it was relatively busy when we arrived here. There weren't any open seats initially but the host said we could hang around the bar for a bit, as he expected a table to open soon. It was probably 10 minutes before we were sat which is basically like being sat immediately in New York time. And generally, the staff here were great -- very personable and accommodating, quick service, only praise in that area. The vibes here are cozy but lively, giving more of a friend hangout than a date (it's also relatively loud so not ideal for conversation if you're sitting across from someone at a table, versus standing and mingling or sitting on bar stools). If you're a dirty martini person you are in luck here, because the Serpentini (grey goose vodka, dry vermouth, olive brine, pepperocini liqueur) is unlike any other. And I get dirty martinis pretty much everywhere I go, so that's saying something. Why is it so unique, you may ask? Well, the pepperocini liqueur is a nice touch and props to whoever decided it was necessary to make such a thing. But the real game changer is the sidecar. You may be thinking -- how is a sidecar unique? Well, it's not just any sidecar...it is not filled with more martini but simply PURE FILTHY BRINE. I mean, if you're ordering a dirty martini, you probably would take a bath in olive brine, brush your teeth with olive brine -- hell, maybe even your contact solution is just olive brine. Want to make your martini dirtier as you drink it? Serpentine has you covered. It is so simple and obvious yet I've never experienced it before. And, because I've never met someone who loves dirty martinis who doesn't also drool over blue cheese-stuff olives, the Serpentini's got that too. Though less exciting and groundbreaking, Mezcal Negroni (ilegal mezcal, campari, averna amaro, lo-fi gentian amaro) is also solid. I love a mezcal negroni and this one is relatively straightforward, just a subtle variation with a few different amaros to add some complexity and herbal notes. A fun and versatile neighborhood spot. It's in prime location so I imagine to rent is absurd, so fingers crossed that it sticks around!
