As far as the dining area- The restaurant was spacious, composed of neatly lined tables and chairs with their centerpiece luncheonette bar gracing the room. Their al fresco arrangement was remarkable- with their lighter hued blue and green colored metallic seats and tables quietly lining the corner of Menahan street. A softboi haven. I imagined this to be a type of restaurant where a newlywed Mormon couple in the Great Plains would run. A place where pleasantries and support for one's neighbor is what mattered. "Another delicious sandwich, Hezekiah. See you guys in church." but truthfully, I felt a bit sour overriding my preference for the reliable in favor for the novel. A half chicken over yellow rice with plantains might have been the better option for my pocket, palate, and my need to protein max. But woe is me. Regardless, I'll have to respectfully pass on seconds at the Salty Lunch Lady's.

Every staff member was super young--barely legal or not even. Every interaction felt like staff were practicing their lines, playing a role in a play, and us, customers, were just cast. Waiters and buss boys were speaking to us like we were dumb/deaf/on the spectrum/high/drunk. It was so disconcerting. Never had such weird experience. Made me so uncomfortable. We were the first ones in the door with 11am reservation on a Saturday. The place filled up quickly. High noise level. Not the best for large groups. The burgers sell out quickly, as only 68 are prepared daily, so we snagged those right away. So delicious. Double smashed cheeseburger--simple and satisfying. Very rich. Would return for this again. French toast was disappointing. Looked pretty but tasted of nothing. It wasn't French toast in a traditional preparation: it was bread pudding cut into a slice and drizzled with syrup and served French toast style. The texture was of a moist but bland bread pudding. Utterly disappointing. Skip. War potatoes (crispy potatoes that are served as a side, with a dollop of super spicy sauce) were very tasty. Double or triple fried to a crispy perfection. Love me some perfectly crisp potatoes. These are super caloric, so prepare for some heartburn after. Ask for war sauce on the side because it is SPICY. House made pistachio gelato was superb. So many pistachios--I'd eat this daily and would return for this!

Seriously it's like walking back into the 90s in Ridgewood. I'm not gonna lie, I had high expectations for being a bespoke southern breakfast sandwich shop because I like my morning flavors savory. They had some fun ideas like a cheese something biscuit whatever but I wouldn't know cause they gave me the wrong sandwich. It was busy so I didn't bother mentioning it... but this place always seemed busy, so maybe they should be used to it? Anywho, I ended up with two of their classic BEC and it was pretty standard and kind of a letdown for Southern. The wait on the line and the 15ish minutes after and the price weren't so standard but this was their last week, so you pick your battles.

I honestly have faith in anything that comes from their kitchen but their "New Yorker" with the spicy bacon and jam is my favorite combination! Make sure you order it on the cheddar and chive biscuit as well, and I must say that they definitely make one of the best chive and cheddar biscuits that I've ever had! They also make a MEAN bundt cake that I forgot to take a pic of. My ONLY hiccup with them is their wait time. Called in my order 20 minutes before I arrived and still waited an additional 30 minutes once I got there smh.... But don't worry I'll be back lol Ambiance is like a local coffee shop. Literally a Corner Shoppe lol.

If there were a footrest bar at the bottom it might've helped, but as it was, my butt was not fitting on that seat. I basically had one foot on the floor and one on my friend's chair just to keep myself from sliding off. Graceful! We ordered two espresso martinis and a slice of tiramisu. Both were absolutely lovely and the perfect way to end the night. The staff were friendly, fast, and really on top of things. Next time I'd definitely come for a table, and maybe a proper meal, because the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked divine. My only gripe? Seventeen dollars for an espresso martini feels... ambitious for Ridgewood. It's not like this is some high-end cocktail bar, it's an elevated pizzeria. I'm not sure I'd come back specifically for the drinks, but I'd absolutely come back for the food and the service. I took home a second piece of that tiramisu. It was so delicious!

We went before a show and were more than excited to hear that it was Sinatra Night! Hell yeah. I love Frank Sinatra. What a perfect date night. The band also played songs from Elvis Costello and the Carpenters. I noticed some older gentleman came to watch them. He drove to the show and ordered a hefty size of creamy pasta. This guy is my hero. We ordered the calamari to start. And Nick had a Birra Morreti and I had the "Diesel" cocktail that had the perfect amaro mix! The cocktail was balanced with sweet, strong and still remained smooth. The mushroom "Funghi" pizza was banging. I loved seeing the whole mushrooms on top. And the pesto marries well with the flavors. We devoured our decadent date night meal while time traveling to a different era with the tunes. Highly recommend having an intimate dinner here or get a little group going. The best was leftover pizza for breakfast!
