I ordered a 10-inch strawberry cream cake for a friend's birthday and had them swap out the labneh for fior di latte. The cake was absolutely gorgeous--seriously, it photographed so well! Taste-wise, it was super moist, and the yogurt in the frosting added a little tartness that balanced out the sweetness perfectly. Everyone loved it, and I'm already looking forward to coming back to try their other flavors. Highly recommend if you're looking for a show-stopping cake that tastes as good as it looks!
If you're on your way to the Piers to lounge and look at the city line, ByClio is a worthwhile stop on your way. I ordered: -Date walnut cookie [4/5]: very nutty, very soft center, and salty enough to add interest but still offers a slight sweetness in the background. The aftertaste pairs really well with a cup of coffee afterwards. The edges are that "soft crispy." Texturally perfect. -Thai tea cake with passionfruit [5/5]: it is a generous slice of cake. The passion fruit filling in between the cake layers is so good. When I eat anything that has Asian-inspired flavors, I am looking for balanced sweetness, much less sugar than, say, a chocolate chip cookie. They have full cakes and custom cakes you can order on their website, starting around $69.
Stopped by after shopping at Whole Foods 4 blocks away on a Saturday afternoon. Very trendy yet laid back bakery serving unique flavors but when I went, looks like a lot of things were sold out. We ordered: - A perfectly cozy and light lavender matcha - Americano (nothing special) - Moist with crunchy edges Date Walnut cookie (loved this) - Mocha cake (taste like heavy fudge with tiramisu cream. Recommend sharing this slice with others as its very dense and heavy for a single serving) Staff are very friendly. Nice vibes all around and will return to try other cakes and cookies.
This was my second time ordering a custom cake from ByClio, and I was impressed with the way the team handled a technical issue that resulted in my order/receipt not showing up in their queue. When I showed up on my pickup day, they realized the issue but were still able to problem solve and get me a cake on that same day. They were able to decorate the cake as I had requested in my order and just use one of the monthly cakes as a base rather than creating a custom cake from scratch. That was an option presented to me, which was fine with me. Everyone was really kind, and I appreciate how helpful they were. The cake was Matcha Frosting, Thai Tea, and Passionfruit Curd. I asked for ombre green icing and minimalistic box cake-inspired decoration, which the team absolutely nailed. The passionfruit curd was definitely the star of the show and made the cake summer-y. The Thai tea and matcha were subtle flavors in comparison but were still present. The cake by itself is not moist, but eaten with the curd, the texture balances out perfectly. I did wish the matcha taste was more present; the frosting also had a slight tinge of sourness that reminded me of yogurt (but others I shared the cake with didn't seem to taste it).
Oh my god. I wish this place were closer to my home so I could come here every week to work and EAT CAKE. The cakes rotate so you never know what'll be in the case for the day but I'm so glad the mocha cake was available the day I came because it was beautiful. I adore the sprinkling of cacao powder atop and the cream to cake ratio. It was slightly reminiscent of tiramisu but with a deep chocolate flavor. So good. The barfi brownie took me by surprise with how spot on the taste of the barfi was, almost identical what you'd find in a south Asian sweet shop. The Turkish coffee cookie wasn't my favorite because of how thin, crumbly and hard it was. I think I would've preferred something a little thicker and chewier but flavor wise it packed a punch. There's free WiFi and plenty of seating. You can see the bakers at work behind the counter which is super cute. I'll definitely be back!

We made this our mission one rainy, fall Saturday morning and make the 45 minutes train ride one way to taste the goodness that is ByClio. I'm here to say that this is one of the few times that a long train ride was absolutely worth the trip. ByClio is situated in an industrial building, with swatches of bright décor and kind staff. There is plenty of seating, and it is very quiet - which makes it perfect for a slow weekend morning. We were greeted with lovely cakes decorated with flowers and fruit-fillings. I settled for a fenugreek plum and basil cake which was light, pleasantly sweet, with a hint of savory flavoring from the basil. Hands down one of the best cakes I've ever had.
I ordered a cake for my sister's birthday and it looked nothing like the cake on the website. there was no effort in decorating this cake, They just put flowers on every inch of the top?This was supposed to be an orange blossom mixed berry tiramisu cake. It was delicious but nothing special. It tasted like a regular berry shortcake. There wasn't any orange blossom flavor. A waste of $70 and two hours driving to pick it up. One star for the texture and flavor.
Had the most wonderful Thai Tea Passionfruit cake at this bakery... I liked it so much that I asked to get a slice to go for my girlfriend. The staff was so kind, they decorated the slice for me! I brought it back home to her and she said it was the best tasting and most beautiful cake she's ever had, and I couldn't agree more!
Probably the most beautiful cakes I have ever seen in my life - but the cakes are more than just for show - they are absolutely delicious! They have a cute little shop where you can enjoy some cake/pastries and have some coffee in Gowanus, just south of Whole Foods on 4th Avenue. The slices are definitely on the pricier side, but to me they are totally worth it. In addition to their normal shop, they also do custom cake orders. I ordered one for a friend for birthday, and the whole process was great! She asks you what flavors you want / don't want, and you are presented with a variety of options and can pick one. Ended up settling on a strawberry milk cake with blackberry filling and raspberry frosting, with matcha dust - the cake came out beautifully, and delicious to boot! If you are a cake lover, or want to get a real nice cake for a friend, ByClio is where it's at!
IBy Clio & from Lucie both create high design confections too pretty to eat and at restaurant prices. By Clio has a magically large open space to enjoy those creations in the hip Gowanus hood. Ate: Lemon berry cake $12 Tandoori masala cookie $3.50 The cake with edible flowers was divine & the cookie had a complex flavor profile. If there were more chocolate creations on the menu By Clio is the more inviting spot for a sit down sweet.
I was absolutely floored by how pretty these cakes were. Really feels like a work of art. My friend got a birthday cake and a slice of the strawberry sumac labneh. She was able to get birthday cake done that day so it seems like they're very flexible. The birthday cake had a coconut base and it was so delicious. The strawberry was very different had definitely more of a cake vibe. The space is spacious and has a lot of seating. There's a lot of natural light coming through as well so it'd be a cute spot to have coffee and read.

Amazing bakery that's right near Four & Twenty Blackbirds, so you can do a whole dessert tour. Date walnut cookie was amazing - so chewy - and the Thai tea cake with passionfruit was phenomenal. Definitely will be back to try more cake! read more

Pretty funky flavors. Interesting texture for sure! Open space with decent seating. Wish there was a bathroom as they serve drinks. Cake was crumbly but also wet at the same time. The pineapple curd on the Thai cake was my favorite. read more

Worth every penny!! I stopped by with a friend who has an even bigger sweet tooth than I have, and I was NOT disappointed at all even going in with high expectations. Didn't try the cookies but they have interesting flavors such as sumac, tandoori masala, and turkish coffee. We tried a slice of umbers cake and matcha cake (with lemon poppyseed and strawberry filling). Aesthetically, they already won our hearts but we ate both these as takeout... and they withstood many hours of being in a backpack still. I loved the subtle blend of matcha with lemon and oh my~ The umbers cake had a hard chocolate chip cookie as part of it, and it was so different! The espresso cream and candied kumquats included were just fantastic, adding to the decadent chocolatey vibes of this cake... Definitely coming back for more! read more
Pretty cakes!! It is a VIBE HERE I trekked here to Brooklyn (1 hr from manhattan lol) to try these cakes that have BLOWING UP!!!!! My thoughts Pros really pretty cake, very nice service, café is also very cute. The ladies that work here are very nice, hipster vibes lol. I do wish that the cake was more dense. My gf got me the mocha tiramisu cake I would take a picture but it's aesthetic enough to post. But honestly I've had ByClio's cake 2x now and I'm never disappointed. Clio and her team just revolutionized cakes in my opinion. The way they bring together unique and rare flavors and when you take that first bite it just melts and harmonizes perfectly on your taste buds. Truly amazing . Service is also great they were so nice I heard there was a mixup in the orders and they were able to help my gf with a new cake with discount and a slice on the house which I ate . I had been following By Clio on Instagram for a while, admiring the aesthetics. I finally found the excuse to take a long walk a bit out of my way on a beautiful day in order to pick up a coveted Too Good to Go grab bag. For a mere $4.99, I received three substantial items--a slice of decadent coconut cake with rose icing dotted with painterly flowers that was almost too pretty to eat, a gooey butter walnut date cookie (not anything I ever would have selected for myself, but a revelation), and a third item that I am actually unsure of (possibly a blondie?), but it was also tasty. The iced hibiscus tea I ordered was the perfect compliment to the cake. I will definitely be back to enjoy the cute space. read more
This cafe was discovered by my friend, and I can speak for my group when I say we had a great time! The cafe was located in an area you wouldn't expect a cute cafe to be found, but these usually are the best gems! The factory pipes on the ceiling highlighted this, but they add to the unique look. There was seating on both sides of the store, and everything you see on display is the menu. The cakes are seasonal, so expect fun new ones not shown in photos! The Umbers ($15) was the group favorite. It had a primarily coffee taste, with a fun brownie cookie bottom, although it was hard to fork through compared to the rest of the layers. The kumquat added a unique taste to it, although it tasted bitter to me by itself. The Thai Tea Passion ($12) was too sweet for me. It did have an authentic thai tea taste with some passion fruit icing as a layer. I thought the Matcha Made in Heaven ($12) was simply going to be Matcha, so I quite enjoyed the strawberry filling inside, along with a tart lemon infused in the cake. At first, I was skeptical. Pretty cakes almost usually never taste good. But these cakes proved me wrong in not only tasting of quality, but they also offered a unique blend of flavors in each cake. We also stayed at the cafe for a while without an uncomfortable feel to leave. If you're looking for fun cakes that taste just as good as they look, come check ByClio out! read more

Officially my favorite cake in New York! Ordered the vanilla raspberry and it was not only beautiful but also delicious. The cake itself was so moist and the cream raspberry layer was super fresh. The merengue outside layer was not only beautiful but brought it all together so nicely. I'm not a huge frosting fan so this was absolutely perfect. My new go-to for all birthdays and celebrations. read more
We got the Tahini Marsala cookie and my bf declared it the best cookie he's ever had! The cookie was really good! It was pretty big for ~$4. The outside was crispy with a super chewy interior. It was one of those thin cookies, and there were pockets of dark chocolate chips. Every bite was tinged with some spices and best of all, it wasn't too sweet. We gobbled it up before dinner despite really only wanting half. I've been eyeing the Greek Yogurt Cake and Kinako cookie and surely will be back for those. The decor inside the shop was super cute. Fresh flowers in vases in a very airy warehouse-turned-cafe aesthetic. Service was also super friendly with the girl offering us so many suggestions of what to get ! read more
I discovered ByClio Bakery because I attended a Bedroom 6 Absinthe tasting at her location which has a very cute island and back seating area. I saw the pastries left over and decided to look at her IG because my best friend's birthday was coming up. I had a vision for the type of cake which was a simple 2 or 3-tier cake with minimal frosting and flowers as decoration. I sent her my inspiration and she was so helpful in making my vision come to life. I ended up ordering a vanilla cake with mixed berries/lemon and she added edible and non-edible flowers. She charged $10 for a local delivery fee and dropped it right at the restaurant my friend was having her birthday dinner which made my life so much easier! Everyone said how gorgeous AND delicious the cake was. I will make sure to order from ByClio Bakery for any future events. read more
Saw this store on tiktok and stopped by to give it a try! The store is a little out of the way from more popular spots. Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was very quiet, their interior looked very spacious and pleasant. All the cakes in the display window looked soooo good! I went with the blueberry lemon cake- I believe it's lemon cake with whipped cream on top and a layer of blueberry puree/sauce in between. It is decorated beautifully with flowers and blueberries on top. It's a little pricy at $12 a slice but it was GOOOD. The whipped cream on top really helped balance the sourness of the lemon and the cake was very moist. It didn't feel heavy at all- I would love to come back next time to try other flavors. read more
A foodie friend recommended this bakery to me so I had to try it! You order at the counter and the server will bring you the drinks and cakes to the table! We ordered: Matcha made in heaven cake ($12) Very lemon blueberry cake ($12) Latte ($5.25) Matcha latte ($6) The slices of cake were a little pricier than i thought but omg, they were absolutely gorgeous! It was like a piece of art! The base for both the cakes were very lemony. The texture was kind of like a pound cake. Both were not very sweet and the cream on it was quite light. The Matcha made in heaven, despite its name, is not very heavy in matcha. I would say it's more of a tart cake because of the lemon base and strawberry jam. The interior and ambiance of the cafe were very chill and relaxing. Super cute date spot or get-together for friends! Quick note though, there is no bathroom here but next door is a giant Whole Foods with a pretty clean bathroom! :) read more

Wonderful cakes that are light and almost too pretty to eat. What makes these cakes unique besides their non traditional flavors is that the flowers are actually edible. The cream top frosting tastes like a grown-up cool whip, which also pairs excellently with fruit. This is an ALLERGY FRIENDLY BAKERY!!! Lots of options and accommodations for all sorts of dietary restrictions! The ambience is relaxed, open and welcoming; unlike so many bakeries where you can feel people waiting for your seat. The staff is so lovely and sweet too. read more
I've been following this place since they opened this location and was so happy to treat myself. The cake flavors change often but the staff was kind and helpful in helping me pick something for myself. I opted for a chocolate cake with strawberry compote. They don't have water out to serve yourself but will provide if asked; definitely needed if you don't want coffee or tea. The cafe itself is bright with plenty of space. The music wasn't too loud and is perfect for sharing slices with friends or reading alone. The tables are a little low and close together but honestly who cares when the cake is that good. I genuinely can't wait to come back and try more. read more
when i tell you i SPLURGED here because the cakes are just THAT good - please take a visit to byclio before she officially moves to her bigger bakery in brooklyn! the cakes: i had the chocolate mango passion fruit, pink lemonade, and matcha vanilla strawberry (??) honestly there are so many layers of flavors in each cake so don't quote me on it but all i know is that each cake was MOIST and thick and delicious and sent me to a heavenly sweet adventure !! the space: located inside a cafe, the space is pretty spacious considering it's a chinatown cafe and the SMELLS omg she's baking all day so the place is filled with baked good scents the people: clio is the KINDEST person ever and so is the cafe worker (i didn't get her name!) they are both just so sweet and fun and i can't wait to go again read more
