A lot of people rave about their croissants as some of the best in NYC... but their kouign amann deserves even more hype! I got lucky and snagged the limited blueberry pie croissant on its last day. Their croissants are literally perfect. Light, airy honeycomb interior, a super flaky exterior, and a deep golden brown. I might just start making regular trips to South Slope for these pastries! Their chef Claudio was so friendly! He even offered to help us cut the pastries in half, which is how we got those flawless cross sections. ＊Blueberry Pie Croissant $11.5 The croissant was stuffed with blueberry jam and whipped vanilla cream! You could tell the jam was homemade with so many real blueberry bits, and they didn't hold back on it! The oat streusel on top was so good I was picking up every last crumb off the plate lol. ＊ Kouign Amann $5.5 What really blew me away was their kouign amann... the outside is crunchy, sticky, and coated with a generous sprinkle of sugar. It's super buttery and pulls apart perfectly with gorgeous honeycomb layers. ＊Ham and Gruyere Croissant $8 I usually go for savory pastries, so this one's a solid pick especially for breakfast. Miolin is worth the hype but good look trying to get a taste! It's not that it has long lines necessarily, but their hours are kinda impossible for anybody but work-from-home locals or people who are up and about super early on weekends. But whatever, the prices are too steep to come here everyday anyhow. But I cannot the deny the food is excellent. I've had a wonderful apple and brie sandwich here, as well as numerous amazing croissants -- the Nutella one is especially dreamy. Worth the hype, worth the wait! read more

Didnt know this bakery had so much hype surrounding it. I came by later in the day closer to their closing time and was impressed by how beautifully made all their pastries were. I tried their strawberry croissant, which was not bad - kind of pricey but I respect how well made the croissant was. My all time favorite kouign amann, perfectly flaky with a really good pastry structure inside without being overly sweet, it comes covered in sugar vs the usual melted sugar on the outside. This may be one of my top 3 bakeries in NY without the wild waits tucked in park slope. read more

Not sure how I missed this bakery over the last year. It's located a few blocks away from Winner igniting what could be the start of a special cluster of bakeries. The bakery has been on my wife's radar and she enthusiastically navigated us here on a weekday holiday. We arrived around 3 PM to find a full selection of pastries, breads, and sandwiches. We wife opted for a kouign amann and a chocolate muffin, while I was enticed by the roasted vegetable sandwich and an early grey iced tea. Kouign amann is the personal sized style popular here in New York. I've yet to find a slice version which approaches the one we had in Montreal. If you know of where to find one in the New York Metropolitan area, then please message me. The style here are more like a sugared cronut. A sweet and flakey pastry. Muffin was soft and very cholocately. It was crumbly with a gooey center. I preferred this one of the two sweet pastries. My favorite item was the roasted vegetable sandwich. It's a baguette / hero shaped sourdough. The shape is perfect for a lunchtime sandwich, yet it still eats like a wonderful slice of sourdough. Crunchy exterior with soft, airy, and chewier center. All the sandwiches looked superb. This one was well assembled with mozzarella, roasted squash, eggplant, peppers, and generous amounts of pesto. The iced tea was great too. Strongly brewed with plenty of the signature bergamot flavor expected in an early grey. Service was friendly, quick, and helpful. Lots of tables inside. read more

This was just lovely. The bakery was closed, it was Sunday afternoon. But I was looking at the hours posted in the window when a man came to the door with a brown bag. "Would you like our last sourdough heart?" I was perplexed. Just giving it to me? "There's butter and jam in the bag," he added as he put in my hands. I walked on a Saturday when they just opened. I was a little worried they wouldn't have a lot of options but they were well prepared at 8:03am. They had baguettes and a vary of sourdoughs. I heard really great things about their Kouign Aman so got one of that and a Strawberry Croissant. I get why people talked highly of their Kouign Aman! A lovely local bakery in the neighborhood. Met up with a friend here for some pastries and loved the potato focaccia. It was light and crispy. It took me 4 attempts to get coffee here. First of all, what coffee shop is closed on Mondays (arguably the morning we want coffee the most)? The hours here are absolutely ridiculous. Even on days it's open, it doesn't open till 8 or 9 am, which just screams that it caters to only people who don't have real jobs to get to. Oh, and it closes by 3pm. And is randomly closed other days. I live 1 block away, and it took weeks for me to even find a time where I could make a purchase because of the hours. Which brings me to... incredibly pretentious and rude staff. Coffee was decent, but I'll go just about anywhere else. read more

I loved ordering delicious baked treats from Miolin before they opened a brick and mortar shop. In a way, I miss those days because I felt like I was in on an amazing secret. And now the secret is out! I am happy that so many people are enjoying the amazing croissants, breads, sandwiches, cinnamon buns, and focaccia. Miolin is, in my opinion, the gold standard for many classics. You can't go wrong with any of their beautiful laminated items, including the kouign amann, but my new favorite is the oh so simple turkey apple and brie on ciabatta. I can find fault in so many sandwiches, but this one is perfect-- quality ingredients, perfect proportion, just right seasoning and condiments. I've tried a few specials, which are fun, but in my heart, it's the regular rotation of goods that determine how great an establishment is. Other places may have long lines for their one viral item, but consistently superior quality is what sets Miolin apart from other bakeries. read more

I'm originally from France, so I tend to be very picky, but I have to say this is very close to what I would get every time I go to Paris. Kouign Amann was worth the 20 min drive and the 4 stars but that's where it ended for me the cinnamon bun was disappointingly dry the strawberry croissant and spinach and cheese croissant were mid at best. May go back for other options but not in a hurry to do so. read more

This one gets it right across the board. This corner used to break my heart when I walked by because I loved the Austrian Cafe Steinhof which had been there until a short-lived Mexican restaurant moved into the space. So imagine my surprise when I came across this pastry oasis that had apparently sprung up months ago underneath my nose. You can look back into the kitchen area where they are consistently bringing out fresh baked goods. The space has been set up well and the customer service has been impeccable in each visit but what really matters is the food behind the glass. The croissants are luxuriant both in their composition and taste- I've had the pain au chocolat and the hazelnut, both light and well-filled. Kouign Amann is all sugary spun goodness in a buttery layered pastry. They were out of raspberry donuts and I was disappointed to only see apricot ones left but I needn't have worried. Again, light, airy, perfectly filled and just enough confectioners sugar to counteract the tart apricot. Focaccia has been uniformly great no matter what type they put out and the baguettes and loaves are top notch. I even grabbed a sandwich to bring down to my local bar, that same crusty baguette filled with salami cornichons mustard and arugula. I asked if they would be doing espresso service but they explained they wanted to focus on the baked goods and provide good drip coffee.
