I've been paying more attention to baked goods that are actually better for your health. That's why I was really excited to try this spot. They mill their own flour and their pastries & bread all made from 100% whole grain flour.
These whole grain pastries keep more of the natural nutrients and fiber. Instantly one of the bakeries I'd go out of my way to visit.
Listing my favorites in order:
* Corn Cake with Grapes $4
At first, the corn cake looked dense, but it was actually light and moist! The grape jam and crème fraîche made it super creamy. Easily my favorite in this haul.
*Toasted Oat Custard Bun $5.5
The filling was toasted oat custard with ginger poached squash inside. Made with whole-grain flour, it feels a little healthier. Definitely the kind of pastry I could eat every day.
*Pan Suisse $7
The candied ginger might throw some people off, but as a huge ginger fan, I loved how the spice balanced the chocolate. I don't usually get pain au chocolat, but this one totally won me over.
*Oyster Mushroom Croissant $5.75
Don't get me wrong, I loved this savory pastry! The oyster mushroom with confit garlic and crème fraîche was so good. I just ranked it lower since the flavor's more predictable.
I also grabbed their Sorghum Porridge Bread ($12) to go, as recommended by the staff, and it was nothing like any sourdough I've had before. The porridge gave it a moist, creamy texture, while the sorghum flour added a nutty flavor. I'll 100% come back for their loaves.
If you love bread and pastries, this flour mill & bakery hybrid is basically heaven on earth! read more
