Katsu sandwich

I hate to share this rating because I love to support my neighborhood small businesses, but sadly the food and drink disappointed me. For drink, ube latte was almost $11 which shocked me. Guess I could've read the menu better but I think the latte itself was $7 and foam apparently is +$2.5 even though it's a super thin layer and part of the drink?? And then I asked for a milk recommendation which was another +$.75 that I wasn't aware of. And the latte itself was meh :( which makes it all the sadder. Same story for the focaccia, I got the katsu one and it was pretty small and sooooo expensive. Not much filling in there for the price. I do love the energy in here and the owners book collection, but sadly I won't be coming back

What a cool concept. We love focaccia, so we had to make the trip out to Brooklyn to try this place. They have a fairly extensive drink menu with great options like the black sesame latte (outstanding). In terms of food, they only offer 3 types of focaccia, as well as 5 sandwiches served on the focaccia. We got the "chocolate & co" sandwich which was a PB&J served on the double chocolate chunk focaccia. The focaccia was excellent. Good texture, and the chocolate worked really well. However, it was a mistake to get the sandwich instead of just the plain focaccia. The focaccia on its own was $6.50, whereas the PB&J was $13, and the worst part was it had such a comically small amount of peanut butter and jam that it was almost unnoticeable. Also, it would have been nice if it had come out warm and melty, but it was served cold. Additionally, when I asked what type of peanut butter it was made with, the server didn't know. She kindly went into the back to ask someone, who also apparently didn't know, because she returned saying it was "some kind of natural peanut butter." Um, what? Isn't there a jar back there? I assume it was Costco brand or something that they didn't want to brag about. Anyway, while we found it overpriced, we are glad they're around and will return when we're in the neighborhood.

Very friendly staff! Came in on a Saturday afternoon and was warmly welcomed, taken though the menu, and given firm recommendations.

And I gotta say, the bartender is doing work. He's the only one working and the whole place is filled up and he manages it very well. They have food and drinks, mocktails included. I love it here. It's very cozy and homey. But just remember to be courteous, that this is a business so it's okay to do work here but if you're gonna be chilling for a while make sure you're getting some drinks every hour or tipping the 'tender. Also careful with some of the hot drinks they can be really.... hot. I burnt the roof of my tongue on my hot cider drink.

Most people here seemed to be working/studying despite it being 7pm on a Friday night --weird. So you order your food/drinks at the bar, which will then be brought out to you with a number you take for your table. I ordered the 2 Empanadas ($12) and a Spicy Mangorita ($15). For whatever reason, my friend's drink came before mine even though she ordered after me. Then both of our food took 40 minutes and only after we followed up after waiting for so long. We had empanadas and a salad, why would it take so long? They must've forgot (or playing hide and seek). We were also rushing to a show at the Warsaw afterwards, so we weren't sure if we were even going to have time after waiting so long. Anyways, that really deterred the mood. Maybe just stick to a cocktail only here.
