Princess Cake
Regina W.

Finally got to try the cardamom bun and princess cake here! I've always wanted to try princess cake but, could never justify buying a full size one. This one is very small and cute! I tried the matcha princess cake and it was light, moist and had a great matcha flavor. The cardamom bun had a great black cardamom flavor and wasn't too sweet or dry. A great alternative when some of the other bakeries in the area have long lines.

The princess cake from this new Swedish bakery in Brooklyn Heights is probably my favorite dessert of 2025 so far. If anyone remembers, IKEA used to serve princess cakes in their cafeteria, but they discontinued the cakes years ago. That's why I was overjoyed to discover this new spot offering this classic swedish dessert, alongside other baked goods like cardamom buns. *Cardamom Bun $6 *Chocolate Coconut Bun $6 The cardamom bun is aromatic with distinct cardamom warmth. Texture wise, it is soft and lightly glazed, though flatter in shape compared to the ones I've had elsewhere. The chocolate coconut bun is not too sweet, possibly made with dark cocoa? They also have cinnamon buns but I didn't get them this time.  *Princess Cake $9.5 *** Unlike the traditional princess cake, which is served in a green marzipan dome, Ferrane's version is more like a "tiramisu", presented in a silver tall cup. It's layered with vanilla sponge cake, raspberry jam, and whipped cream, topped with a thin sheet of green marzipan. It is tart, fluffy, and decadent. I didn't even want to share! Also got an iced americano ($5), pretty decent.

We came in the early afternoon on our way to take the 2 train into Manhattan. It is conveniently on the same block. The interior was spacious and built in the classic clean minimalist Swedish architectural style. We got a few baked goods. I do recommend that they offer boxes for when there's a big order as opposed to putting each pastry in a separate bag. We got the last cardamom bun. The style was different from the La Cabra one. I think I prefer the La Cabra one more. The Swedish Cinnamon buns were very good. We thought their croissants were very well done as well! We tried the chocolate, original and almond ones! We came during soft opening an are excited to continue to try this place as they offer a more extensive menu!

Stopped by the long awaited Ferrane today, which was pretty crowded for a rainy morning. It's located right around the corner from the Clark St (2/3) station, within walking distance of an equally famous bakery on nearby Montague. Ferrane is currently in their soft opening, so the menu is limited to pastries like cardamom and cinnamon buns for now, but I cannot wait to see what is in store. I had the pleasure of trying their semla at their popup a few months ago so I really hope that will return to the menu soon, or even savory options. The space is gorgeous, with a window to the other side, where you can watch bakers hard at work while sipping coffee, and tables bathed in warm, cozy lighting. I ordered the cardamom bun ($6) which was thinner and flatter than the other buns I've tried thus far at Smør and La Cabra, but I really loved this choice because it ended up being less dense and doughy overall. Ferrane's version felt larger and more decadent because of the flatter side, and was absolutely drenched in syrup. With flecks of crushed cardamom cradled in between all those mesmerizing swirls, I would definitely say it won me over and has toppled Fabrique in becoming my favorite cardamom bun in the city. I will definitely return soon to try their chocolate coconut buns and rye bread!

There was no line on a weekday, but most of the seats were taken. The inside is clean with plenty of natural lighting and fast service. We ordered the cardamon bun and the cinnamon bun. Both were yummy and soft. I would come back, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Popped in during my walk around Brooklyn heights remembering I saw they had just opened. I went after the morning coffee rush so it was empty. Very nice space, open and modern but homey. I grabbed a croissant to go and it was amazing. So so good. Great coffee as well. Prices to be expected. Def a nice spot for coffee and pastries!

Just learned about this place yesterday and yeah... I get the hype now…read more Got the burrata sandwich; super fresh, soft bread, and the burrata was doing what it needed to do. Creamy but so good. Also grabbed a few baked goods: - gf brown sugar corn muffin... lowkey my favorite. Soft, slightly sweet, didn't even feel gluten-free. - earl grey morning bun -- light, flaky, and had that subtle tea flavor without being too much. Everything felt fresh and made with care. Definitely going back.

We arrived at 9:45 and got the pastries at 10:30. The wait was longer because we had to wait for the specials to come out from the oven, otherwise we could've just skipped the line and ordered directly at the counter. *Mango Lassi Croissant $15 Simply amazing. Ngl a $15 croissant should be illegal...but I went speechless after the first bite. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY I am not even a huge mango lover like anybody does, but WOW this mango croissant was seriously the BEST mango pastry EVER. The pastry shell held flaky and crunchy, and the center was filled with a labneh cheesecake and mango gelee. We were surprised the filling wasn't liquid-y at all and held up well! We also tried the new Artichoke and Green Garlic Foccacia ($9), and the Fennel and Sausage Foccacia ($9). I get their foccacia slice every time I'm here and they never let me down. So pillowy and delicious.

Even though there is a line, you do not feel rushed or pressured to order quickly. On this visit we ordered plain croissant, chocolate croissant-fresh out of the oven, rhubarb croissant, black forest pastry and brown butter corn cake. The chocolate croissant was amazing. It is triple chocolate and cocoa powder is in the dough. It is filled with milk and dark chocolate, so creamy. The plain croissant was flaky and light. The brown butter corn cake was crispy and caramelized on the outside and soft and moist. The Black Forest croissant is a seasonal offering. It is made with their Triple Chocolate Croissant filled with chocolate cake and sour cherries and topped with mascarpone cream , Rhubarb & Custard Croissant . It is tart and sweet. The rhubarb is roasted and complimented with sweet vanilla custard. They all were excellent. Each were about $8. Highly recommend and don't let the line deter you .

If you have not been fortunate to salivate and then dine on ANY item that RB offers, then all I can say is, " Sorry for you!" Lol! Does it live up to the hype? YES! YES!YES! I am in love with their sandwiches, first 1. THE BREAD: worth the cheat... baked on premises. You can see it live when you walk in here and on India street. Repeat after me.. BAGUETTE..BRIOCHE..FOCACCIA..CIABATTA 2. THE OPTIONS... Repeat after me: TURKEY KALE BASIL PESTO.. TUNA..SPICY TOFU.. HAM WITH ROSEMARY BUTTER Your eyes are starting to dance.. there is a huge smile on your face, you feel a bit unsteady as the server asks "What can I get for you?" and you point to the sandwich display case and say"I want THAT, THIS and come to think of it... THAT TOO!" 3. PASTRIES: Salivate with me: CHOCOLATE BEAR CLAW.. PISTACHIO CROISSANT.. CHOCOLATE CHUNK COOKIE, EARL GREY MORNING BUN.... 4. SAVORY: SCALLION TOAST, CHEESY PRETZEL BEAR CLAW, HEIRLOOM TOMATO TART 5. Service: TOP NOTCH My fave is the Turkey Kale and Pesto on Sesame Focaccia.. the kale is marinated with lemon juice and olive oil, turkey is a mix of light and dark meat, the pesto has pine nut and pecorino. Yummmmmm.. I was asked if I wanted a bag, yes, one that is big enough to pack the entire store! There are a plethora of fine eateries in Prospect Heights which I am always exploring... However, when your exploration leads you to a gem, like RB, or your fave song, you want it over and over again. There is always a line, they let clients in one at a time or in twos.
