Very cute Japanese cafe, tucked down a quiet hallway in industry city. Please respect the sign outside which says maximum of 3 people in line inside at a time. The interior is very cozy and quiet. The lavender matcha latte here is very good, hint of sweetness and strong lavender flavor. They are also generous with the matcha scoops. The chai latte was good, but not great. To be fair, I don't think any chai that I've tried from a cafe has been better than one from an Indian restaurant. I definitely recommend trying the pastries. Matcha here is high quality and very authentic, tastes just like the matcha I got in Japan (I'm not the biggest fan of matcha but for those of you who are, would def recommend!). I ordered the hojicha latte (something new, my first time trying it), which was the perfect sweetness and paired really well with all the pastries. Had a difficult time ranking the baked goods, they were all very good in their own way, but I think I liked this cherry custard croissant-like pastry best (forget what it was called). We saw this little store after attending the makers market and was happy to have found it. There is a short line because the maximum occupancy for ordering is about three not including the people sitting around and enjoying their drinks and food. We ordered a Matcha and a blueberry soda which were both delicious the one of them was lavender forward (can't remember) but balanced and the blueberry soda had bits of macerated blueberries that were fun to drink. Also ordered a Yuzu lemon cake and also a pineapple carrot cake that had a nice surprise piece of pineapple in the middle. It's tucked away on the second floor in building 5 - you'll see a bunch of other cute shops and taidama is in this hallway! The inside is super small, so there might be a line. This was one of the best coffee shop that I ever encountered. I felt like home, just like the name of the place. The dirty sesame latte was incredible, amazing, I just can't describe it. This place is legitimately awesome. I've been coming here since way back when she just sold desserts outta the downstairs Japanese food court and I was so excited when she opened up her own shop. Not only are her desserts and drinks absolutely gorgeous -- expect edible flowers and other delicate touches -- but they are DEEEEEElicious! I don't think you can go wrong with any of the drinks here but I just had a truly standout Chestnut Latte (seasonal special) that kinda blew my mind. Perfect flavor, sweet and creamy even with oat milk, and with a buncha crushed up chestnut at the bottom of the drink -- WOW. Legitimately amazing. Gonna be thinking about that one for a while. The drinks we got the matcha and hojicha nothing too special about it. I would want to come back for their coffee to try. It is unfortunate that they are only open such short hours each day. Tadaima is the only spot you should be going to for quality matcha. I love this spot so much that I get 2 drinks in one sitting (I know, a bit much). You cannot go wrong with their hojicha latte or any of their seasonal latte's. Last time I was there they had a delightful lavender matcha latte. FYI, Tadaima has very limited hours but if you're ever in Industry City in the timeframe that they're open, it will totally be worth the visit. You MUST get one of their handcrafted beverages. I opted for one of their seasonal drinks - an iced yuzu coffee. Boy, was I blown away! And I paired it with a black sesame Madeleine - by far, one of the best I've ever had! Very cute coffee shop in Industry City, it fit the vibes of the surrounding businesses. The owner keeps the cafe occupancy small (3 at a time!) to create that homely ambiance, hence the name "Tadaima" (I am home, in Japanese). There's a coziness, such as homemade stuffed animals from Japan for sale, and just a tad bit eccentric, with the Japanese drip cold brew coffee maker next to the window. Tadiama is my number one cafe in Brooklyn. Came here a few times and I would say their service never disappoints. Once you enter the hidden gem in the industry building you will feel like you're in another world of sweetness. What I like- Hojicha latte-5/5-I love how everything is super light and not too sweet. I also love that they sift the powder a lot so the drink is not grainy or tastes odd. The light roasted green tea matches well with a lot of their pastries. Lemon Yuzu cupcake-5/5-highly recommend. This is not your ordinary Lemon cupcake but it was a twist of yuzu inside! You can definitely taste the yuzu (lemon) in the icing and cupcake itself. Again, not too sweet and it pairs with their hojicha latte so well. The cafe itself is so cute! Only 3 people max if you're sitting inside. A legit Japanese bakery located on the 2nd floor of Industry City (35th street). They have a great selection of fresh baked goods from cookies to scones and muffins with shelf dates listed. Very helpful if you're buying extra to bring home. I tried their matcha chocolate chip cookie, the coffee cookie and a black sesame madeleine. They were all delicious but take note the madeleine is dense so you're going to need a drink with it. I didn't get a chance to try their hand craft beverages but had some of my friend's latte and it was good so I will definitely get a seasonal drink next time. It's a small shop with little to no seatings so definitely not a place to sit and chat over coffee. But you can easily grab and go and there are plenty of seats downstairs. When I see a trusted Elite raved about a place - I go! Tadaima is a cozy cafe on the second floor of building 5 at Industry City. It opens at 9am with pastry case fully stocked. I got the Kabocha Cheese Scone and Salted Apple Caramel Breton. I've never had kabocha cheese - it's mild. So if you don't like cheese, you'll still like this scone. It was fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Also, never had a breton - I liken it to a cannele. There was a huge slice of apple on top and wasn't too sweet. Came by again because the atmosphere here is just super nice and relaxing. Tried a different sweet this time in the Salted Caramel Apple Far Breton and it was really good! The outside was crispy and a little caramelly with the inside soft and almost a little custardy, almost like a cannele. The soft apple was cooked down and a soft accent to the pastry while not being too sweet or tart, which was perfect too. Tadaima has become my recent favorite bakery/cafe in Brooklyn. It is Japanese-owned where I could practise my baby Japanese. All the pastries are reasonably priced, but the drinks were quite expensive. There are only limited seatings, but it's easy to find tables elsewhere inside or outside the building. Also the lines could be long sometimes and the pastries sell out early. ＊ Kabocha Maple Muffin Fall is the best season to try out all pumpkin flavored food, and I was glad that I ordered it. The cake was moist and not too sweet. There were plenty of pumpkin chunks loaded in the loaf. To show my appreciation, I devoured the whole muffin in one sitting. ＊ Yuzu Lemon Cake A lovely muffin decorated with yuzu glaze and dried flowers. It was too sweet for my liking tbh, but it really pulled in the citrusy fragrance that yuzu lovers will find it enjoyable. ＊ Matcha White Chocolate Cookie ＊ Salted Hojicha Chocolate Cookie I could finally get cookies with rich matcha/hojicha flavors that are comparable to those in Japan. These cookies weren't overloaded with chocolate chunks so I could still taste the strong tea fragrance. Pretty sure they didn't skimp on tea powder, and the powder quality was superior. They also held the perfect texture with crunchy edges. ＊ Black Sesame Coffee I was blown away by the richness of black sesame -- my mouth was filled with nutty and earthy aroma! Hands down one of the richest I've tried after Davelle and Kore. I didn't expect it to be sweetened, so once again the drink was too sweet for me as the sugar might have sinked at the bottom. H-01 Naka-Meguro (中目黒). First stop on the Hibiya line. Or you're almost home. The Tokyo Metro Hibiya line is one of the more interesting subway lines in the Tokyo mass transit system in that it starts from Kita-Senju (北千住) on the Northeastern side of the city (firmly in the oldschool "shitamachi" (下町) districts), snakes it way past the front gates of the Imperial palace and Kasumigaseki (霞ケ関), which is Japan's administrative nerve center (like Federal Triangle in DC), brush past the clubbing districts of Roppongi near the embassies, and eventually onto Meguro (目黒), a fashionable upper-middle class "Yamanote (山の手)" area. So what's so interesting about Meguro? Well, it sits not that far from Tokyo's border at the Tama river, and beyond that is Kanagawa prefecture, which has numerous English style garden city developments served by the Tokyu Toyoko line (東急東横線), a rail line that goes from the Western Tokyo central business district of Shibuya (渋谷) to the Kanagawa prefectural capital of Yokohama (横浜). No surprises that some of the most expensive residential developments in Japan are along the line starting from Meguro all the way to Yokohama. In fact, Forest Hills Gardens in Queens (a restrictive private community) has a spiritual analog here called Den-en-chofu (田園調布) with large gardens and private estates not typical of Tokyo, and highly desirable amongst the local gentry (technically lux condos or town homes in places like Roppongi, Azubu-Juban and along the Tokyo Portlands in Shiba are even more expensive, but that's like comparing billionaires row in midtown Manhattan to a place in Riverdale North, Smithtown or Manhasset Hills - one is ostentatious gold-digger territory, the other is where old money goes to hide). Shibuya might be where you take ladies out on parfait dates, Meguro is where you'll want to take your significant other on cafe outings several years later - the local museums, shops and eateries are considered some of the more fashionable in the city. Omote-Sando and Takeshita-Dori might have the hype, but Meguro got the money. Now if you take that image and transplant it onto southwestern Brooklyn, you get Tadaima. So Tadaima radiates a sense of quiet artsy confidence, which fits in well with the "more boughie" atmosphere of industry city. Of course, you get more of that along Norman street in Greenpoint, but that's on the other side of Brooklyn. If you are at Japan Village here and want a more mature (and less Otaku-like) feeling of being in Tokyo, sipping Kyoto style mizudashu, munching on a butter sable cookie and sitting down in their cafe while listening to David Brubeck off their Sonos, admiring their Taisho Roman furnishings (very retro and exudes warmth all over) and looking at their dried flower arrangements...is a must. Tadaima (ただいま) is "welcome home" in Japanese, and it feels comfortable here. And look, they must've invested heavily in Visine eyedrops since they managed to decorate the place without a single ounce of pinkness. The Japan Village experience at Industry City has a weird symmetry with the Tokyo Metro Hibiya line as you can see very similar things, like (H-16) Akihabara (eh, Book-Off's large anime offerings at Building 4, second floor next to the Loft), the traditional Japanese architecture at (H-14) Ningyocho (the tea room and Origami store at the Loft, near Book-Off), the food court vendors at (H-11) Tsukiji (the food court at Japan Village), the diplomatic quarters at (H-4) Roppongi Hills (I guess that would be Sahadi's at the Building 6 concourse), and by the time you are upstairs Building 5 at the Makers corner, it's like you spiritually pull into (H-1) Naka-Meguro, and just like the real station, there's a chic, fashionable cafe waiting for you there. Let's hope that you feel like you are on your way home by then. read more

This cafe is really a hidden gem tucked away in brooklyn, run by the sweetest Japanese ladies. Currently they only allow 3 customers in their shop at a time for ordering and there was a line when I arrived and after I left! We opted to try two of their lattes - the seasonal chestnut latte and hojicha latte. The chestnut latte (5/5) was delicious. The homemade chestnut paste offered a nutty and sweet flavor to the latte and tasted really good as well (I was able to savor the leftover paste once I reached the bottom of the drink). The hojicha latte (4.5/5) was also very high quality, just the pure taste of the hojicha itself. The yuzu cake (4/5) was also delicious! A very unique bakery hidden off the busy first floor of the Industry City building. This one is on the second floor. Owner wants you to get the full "at home" feeling so she suggests only three people in the shop at a time. There's a small yet cozy space to sit as you wait for your order. If you're lucky and arrive early, you'll get a chance to try one of her many fine desserts. Sable Cookies rock! And the pineapple banana bread was delicious. I was lucky to score a matcha sable cookie as well. Not too sweet but just enough. Totally taste the matcha and the butter. Hee hee Once she sells out, she's out. You can ask in case there's a reserve batch somewhere in the back. Custom drinks are all made to order so be patient. This is not a quick grab and go spot. It is meant to be slow paced and to be enjoyed, like you would at someone's home. The store is decorated with lovely Japanese finds, art, pictures and misc items like housewares and crafts for sale.
