First, I love a place where you can feel relaxed while enjoying a hearty meal. This restaurant was absolutely amazing and I have to shoutout the staff and owner for showing us hospitality and warmth. Now, I did remove 1 star because when our original waitress ended her shift, she informed us that someone else would be available to support. That support was hard to locate and we waited a little longer than we expected for basic services to help close out our meal. I would say that while the staff was friendly, maybe a little more attentiveness would help with the flow of service. And while that removes 1 star, this place is still 4 stars amazing! First, the rich spices and herbs made every bite of my dish, memorable. I ordered the creamiest shrimp and grits, topped with diced mushrooms, peppers, and a few sauces. Disclaimer: provided the size of the dish, the shrimps were a little small and few in quantity, but the flavor made every bite worth the journey. I mean, the grits were the BEST I've had in a long time and the shrimps were seasoned to perfection. We enjoyed some mimosas, a little too sugary, but nothing to complain about. Overall, I had such an enjoyable time and look forward to visiting again!

This the kind of place that resets your standards. Y'all treated me very well with this one. After eating here, I found myself judging every spot that followed like, "Mm... no. That's not how they did it at Zaca." The ambiance is a perfect reflection of Bed-Stuy-African/Afro-inspired art, warm colors, real character. It feels like your Auntie's dining room in the best way: intimate, cozy, and full of soul. Seating is snug (I can see it getting tight during peak hours), but when I went it was relaxed and inviting. There's even a little outdoor space if you want to eat with the city humming around you. Now let's talk about the hospitality because who says you can't get it in NY? Miss V-my waitress- was everything. Attentive and effortlessly on point. The food is made to order, which matters, because this is a conversation place. A linger a little, laugh a little, feel at home kind of spot for us. Welcoming, local, and full of personality. But that food??? Honey... hush. HOT!!!!! Fresh, flavorful, and cooked with intention. The kind of meal that has you quiet at the table for a second because you need to focus. Every bite made sense. They know what they're doing up in there!!! This place is a gem. Comfortable, soulful, and confidently good. I left full, happy, and slightly offended there isn't one of these in Texas. I'll absolutely be back. Wait for me Zaca!!

The service was excellent! I loved The Server's personality; she was very sweet and patient with me. The food was definitely worth the wait. As a kale lover, I really enjoyed my salad. Mac & cheese was also enjoyable. I highly recommend this place for a quick bite to eat.

Always a great time at Zaca. I love the French toast and shrimp + grits. Service is quick and personable (Vanessa is so sweet). They also have wifi if you need to get work done. I'm always looking for spiritual spots, too -- the ancestral decor and traditional masks make the space feel so homey. Also, Zaca's prices really can't be beat -- $12-$14 for great food. Shrimp + grits were $22.

Love supporting authentically black-owned restaurants. There was no doubt of the African ancestry because there were tapestries, sculptures & paintings on the ceilings and walls. You feel transported, but in a laid-back, not trying, homey type of way. The menu is pretty much all of your American favorites (French toast, sandwiches, salads & a few large plates). I was expecting some more African dishes as they had Burkina Faso flags throughout. The waitress was new and a bit shy, but we didn't mind as the manager walked her through everything & was still kind/gracious towards us. The place was pretty empty on a Wednesday (2 people came in late) & we almost passed by because it looks like a grab and go. Panini & salad run of the mill good & linguini with sweet sauce was a nice surprise. I'd return for a lowkey, no frills Subday brunch.

Zaca is a nice chill local spot. I stopped by to try the salmon burger. I had the turkey burger yesterday so I wanted to try something different today. I've yet to dine in, and usually get takeout... I was sad to see that they got a C rating, but looking from the takeout window into the kitchen, I could see why. The Zaca bakery next door is much more presentable.

Salmon burger and fries. Totally started eating before i snapped that photo. It was good

Was in the area and stopped for a bite to eat. The location was bustling for a Sunday afternoon. I got the salmon bugger with fries and a side of mac and cheese. All items were delicious. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Service was pretty quick after ordering and the waitress was helpful. The inside had a chill vibe.

Loved the meal one of the best grit dishes I've had in Brooklyn. The seating is limited so seating may depend but if you can...go! A fantastic meal and always consistent!

When it was all said and done, I can say the food is okay, but the service and ambiance is what makes for a fun visit. I ordered a fried chicken with a waffle and it was fair. The chicken was moist and had a good fry, but the waffle was very sweet and possibly undercooked. The fruit it was served with was not fresh either. Sitting on a pillow and the bubbly yet pretty bartender was a nice touch. I also liked the eclectic music. Unfortunately none of it stayed down, so as a result I am knocking the rating a little. The French-American cuisine is apparent here, but feels so out of character for the neighborhood. While fun, I likely will not return.

Ate here for dinner on a semi-whim, and I really enjoyed it! They had a wide variety of dishes / paninis / mains / sides all fairly reasonably priced It was a peaceful, warm environment. I got the Atlantic salmon with beets and mash potatoes as the sides, and it tasted very fresh, nicely seasoned etc. also shared a Cobb salad, which ended up being a very generous portion with the perfect amount of dressing and produce crispness. I hate a soggy salad. And dressing can be very repulsive to me. But this was very flavorful, inoffensive salad, which I am always on the look for. The service was great, very attentive, very kind. Want to come back!

Nice place. Decent food, really kind people. I'd love to come back and try the French toast because it looks amazing.

We got there a few mins after they open stood outside maybe 5 mins or so to give them time to set up but when we went in they already had a few people in there so didn't feel bad. The place is small but no issues with that I like cozy ambiance styles. Food was really good on my end and my brother got the avocado toast with pork sausage on side look really tasty I got the French toast that had a different take on them with the bread I loved!! For a simple 3 items(Caramelized apples, bananas and blueberries)with no fluff or wild amounts of sugar it was a 10/10.My side order of eggs (overease) was really good as well did perfectly tasted. Also loved my organic breakfast blend tea, love that they carry Atlantic salmon not farm raised, love that they have real Honey and Maple syrup can't major foodie points for that. so

I was searching for a good place that had good food with reviews. I was happy I seen grits on the menu. I ordered the platter which came with grits, eggs, turkey bacon and a salad. When I saw it all together because I ordered to go I thought I wasn't going to like it but the flavors all together was amazing. It also comes with this pico and verde sauce. Oh and it came with toast. The lady at the front that was taking my order was soo nice she didn't rush me and helped me with the neuron since I wanted grits. I love this place and will definitely go back next time in NYC. It's located in Brooklyn. They have indoor and outdoor sitting. Over all I rate the customer service, food and the cleanliness of this place a 5/5.

The host had even set a table aside for us with coloring pages (based on the mural on the opposite wall, which they loved realizing). Everything was absolutely perfect. The Gougère (a cheese puff pastry) was airy, light and I loved it, more than anyone else at the table. The fried artichokes were more broiled (tasted healthier) and came in a slightly acidic tahini sauce. The sauce was a light layer on the dish instead of on top to keep the brussel sprouts from getting soggy. I got the moules frites, fantastic, no notes. My son got the kids steak and fries which came with a salad he ate first. The price ($22) for a "kids" meal seemed steep, but the steak alone was probably worth the price, and actually seasoned. This is the type of kids meal that builds kids who actually like food. We got some zero cocktails (not enough sleep to drink and travel the next day) and they were great. If I'm at the NU hotel again, this is going to be a must stop place. Total bull was 222 (before tip) for 3 adults and 2 kids. So expensive, but well worth it, and honestly not terrible for NYC standards.

It was decently full on a Tuesday afternoon. It's bigger than expected since there's seats around the corner from the back and there's a patio in the back. It looked like most of the other guests didn't order from Restaurant Week. Some of them were sharing salads that looked really big for an appetizer. I ordered chilled corn vichyssoise and burger royale. My friend ordered frenchie salad and moules normande. Our portions weren't as crazy what we saw other people get. I like how my chilled corn vichyssoise is creamy and refreshing without being too cold or sweet. The radish, watervress, and pickled okra provided different textures and flavors with each sip. They also sprinkle chives and some oil on top to add more layers. My friend's frenchie salad came out to be a few large pieces of lettuce leaves spread out with dressing and toppings added on top. She found it a bit tiring to need to cut up the large leaves, and the ratio of toppings with greens is off. She found it to be too much dressing and bacon. There were small bits of something we're not sure of, might be mustard seeds. We like how there's a small crunch and some earthy flavor, not too strong. For mains, my burger royale came out medium rare as requested. It was smaller than expected but with a double patty, the portions are sufficient. I like how they used raclette cheese which is more unique and comes with a nice cheese pull. The french dressing added to the bun was a little too wet and oily but tolerable. I like how the lettuce is shredded which helps distribute it amongst bites. The fries are thin which is also what I prefer more. They were slightly too brown for me. It's so funny the way they pile up the fries. I can't imagine myself finishing it but will be disappointed if it's a smaller pile. Many pieces were short which made it hard to pick up. Overall decent portions and flavors. I'd be open to coming again if I'm looking for a restaurant in the area.
