Waffles w/o walnuts

The food was pretty decent, definitely on the expensive side. I think it would probably be better to dine in. The packaging for the shrimp & grits was a bit odd for delivery and much too large. They give you 4 shrimp and I think it should definitely be 5 based on the size of them. Overall everything was decent except for the Iced Black Tea. I could have made 6 ice teas with the strength of the one I brought.

Shrimp & Grits - A white plate features shrimp and grits topped with a mixture of cooked vegetables and sauces, including green and red sauces. The dish is garnished with a sprinkle of spices around the edge of the plate. The background shows glasses, a bowl, and other dishes on a wooden table, indicating a restaurant setting.

First, I love a place where you can feel relaxed while enjoying a hearty meal. This restaurant was absolutely amazing and I have to shoutout the staff and owner for showing us hospitality and warmth. Now, I did remove 1 star because when our original waitress ended her shift, she informed us that someone else would be available to support. That support was hard to locate and we waited a little longer than we expected for basic services to help close out our meal. I would say that while the staff was friendly, maybe a little more attentiveness would help with the flow of service. And while that removes 1 star, this place is still 4 stars amazing! First, the rich spices and herbs made every bite of my dish, memorable. I ordered the creamiest shrimp and grits, topped with diced mushrooms, peppers, and a few sauces. Disclaimer: provided the size of the dish, the shrimps were a little small and few in quantity, but the flavor made every bite worth the journey. I mean, the grits were the BEST I've had in a long time and the shrimps were seasoned to perfection. We enjoyed some mimosas, a little too sugary, but nothing to complain about. Overall, I had such an enjoyable time and look forward to visiting again!

The service was excellent! I loved The Server's personality; she was very sweet and patient with me. The food was definitely worth the wait. As a kale lover, I really enjoyed my salad. Mac & cheese was also enjoyable. I highly recommend this place for a quick bite to eat.

Always a great time at Zaca. I love the French toast and shrimp + grits. Service is quick and personable (Vanessa is so sweet). They also have wifi if you need to get work done. I'm always looking for spiritual spots, too -- the ancestral decor and traditional masks make the space feel so homey. Also, Zaca's prices really can't be beat -- $12-$14 for great food. Shrimp + grits were $22.

Love supporting authentically black-owned restaurants. There was no doubt of the African ancestry because there were tapestries, sculptures & paintings on the ceilings and walls. You feel transported, but in a laid-back, not trying, homey type of way. The menu is pretty much all of your American favorites (French toast, sandwiches, salads & a few large plates). I was expecting some more African dishes as they had Burkina Faso flags throughout. The waitress was new and a bit shy, but we didn't mind as the manager walked her through everything & was still kind/gracious towards us. The place was pretty empty on a Wednesday (2 people came in late) & we almost passed by because it looks like a grab and go. Panini & salad run of the mill good & linguini with sweet sauce was a nice surprise. I'd return for a lowkey, no frills Subday brunch.

Zaca is a nice chill local spot. I stopped by to try the salmon burger. I had the turkey burger yesterday so I wanted to try something different today. I've yet to dine in, and usually get takeout... I was sad to see that they got a C rating, but looking from the takeout window into the kitchen, I could see why. The Zaca bakery next door is much more presentable.

Salmon burger and fries. Totally started eating before i snapped that photo. It was good

Was in the area and stopped for a bite to eat. The location was bustling for a Sunday afternoon. I got the salmon bugger with fries and a side of mac and cheese. All items were delicious. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Service was pretty quick after ordering and the waitress was helpful. The inside had a chill vibe.

Loved the meal one of the best grit dishes I've had in Brooklyn. The seating is limited so seating may depend but if you can...go! A fantastic meal and always consistent!

Zaca Cobb Salad, Chicken Panini

Ate here for dinner on a semi-whim, and I really enjoyed it! They had a wide variety of dishes / paninis / mains / sides all fairly reasonably priced It was a peaceful, warm environment. I got the Atlantic salmon with beets and mash potatoes as the sides, and it tasted very fresh, nicely seasoned etc. also shared a Cobb salad, which ended up being a very generous portion with the perfect amount of dressing and produce crispness. I hate a soggy salad. And dressing can be very repulsive to me. But this was very flavorful, inoffensive salad, which I am always on the look for. The service was great, very attentive, very kind. Want to come back!

The image shows a white plate with a large, golden-brown breaded fried fish fillet placed on top of a dessert that includes banana slices, chocolate pieces, and cream. The plate is on a wooden table, with a glass of water nearby. The dish appears to be a combination of fried seafood and a sweet dessert, possibly served at a casual dining establishment.

When it was all said and done, I can say the food is okay, but the service and ambiance is what makes for a fun visit. I ordered a fried chicken with a waffle and it was fair. The chicken was moist and had a good fry, but the waffle was very sweet and possibly undercooked. The fruit it was served with was not fresh either. Sitting on a pillow and the bubbly yet pretty bartender was a nice touch. I also liked the eclectic music. Unfortunately none of it stayed down, so as a result I am knocking the rating a little. The French-American cuisine is apparent here, but feels so out of character for the neighborhood. While fun, I likely will not return.

Nice place. Decent food, really kind people. I'd love to come back and try the French toast because it looks amazing.

The French Toast - Two slices of French toast topped with banana slices, bacon pieces, and chocolate chips are served on a white oval plate. The dish is dusted with powdered sugar. In the background, there are small pitchers of syrup and possibly honey, along with other food items and utensils on a wooden table.

We got there a few mins after they open stood outside maybe 5 mins or so to give them time to set up but when we went in they already had a few people in there so didn't feel bad. The place is small but no issues with that I like cozy ambiance styles. Food was really good on my end and my brother got the avocado toast with pork sausage on side look really tasty I got the French toast that had a different take on them with the bread I loved!! For a simple 3 items(Caramelized apples, bananas and blueberries)with no fluff or wild amounts of sugar it was a 10/10.My side order of eggs (overease) was really good as well did perfectly tasted. Also loved my organic breakfast blend tea, love that they carry Atlantic salmon not farm raised, love that they have real Honey and Maple syrup can't major foodie points for that. so

French Toast and The Works Bagel

Great food, cool and fun ambiance, lowkey and small dining spot. Great for brunch. Service was amazing, each time I've come there's been only one server but she's incredible. Seems to get crowded on the weekend. Would definitely recommend checking out

Got brunch here on a Sunday with a friend. We split the Hot Honey Gem Salad and Hottokeki (Japanese…read moresoufflé pancake). The pancake is gigantic and is absolutely meant to be shared. It was really fluffy and smelled soooo good (reminiscent of the HK street cart waffles). But because it's so big, by the time we ate half of it, we were getting a little tired of the same taste. The salad was good but nothing to rave about. For drinks, we tried the Lebowski-San and Kettl Hojicha Kombucha. It was my first time trying a clarified cocktail and it was really unique. I thought there would be more ice cream honestly but I still loved it. The kombucha though was shockingly tasty. I loved it so much that I bought a bottle online once I got home (they're from Kettl, a local distillery in Brooklyn). The venue is really spacious and I actually planned a wedding here in the past. They host a lot of events and there was even a birthday party happening when I ate there. The only downside is the location. The only train that goes there is the G so it's a bit hard to get to. Food: Hot Honey Gem Salad (radish, buckwheat, fennel, yuzu vinaigrette) 9/10 Hottokeki / Japanese Soufflé Pancake (fluffy hotcake, honey maple butter, sesame) 9/10 Add Mini White Sesame Soft Serve (soy milk, sesame oil) 10/10 - I would recommend just getting this on its own instead of the Hottokeki if you're craving just a little dessert. Drinks: Lebowski-San (green tea shochu, pisco, sakura leaf, clarified matcha ice cream, cold brew coffee floater) 9/10 - This is a clarified cocktail which I didn't expect. I thought I was ordering a matcha ice cream-like drink so although the drink was good, all the ingredients are very subtle in flavor. Kettl x Unified Ferments 'Hojicha' Kombucha (jou yanagi hojicha) 10/10 - This is an absolute must-try!

Really popular space that speaks for itself. I also went on a special occasion and they prepared a nice note congratulating me on my special day. Additionally, I loved the high ceilings and natural light from the skylights above. Definitely recommend the chips with the potato salad and caviar. I still think about it sometimes and even created something similar when I host events! They also have a lot of fun cocktails that make this place a great place to gather with friends.

The furniture and decor is so thoughtfully curated and made it seem like a gallery. There are two big couches, a few seats, and a large communal table for laptop work. Some tables outdoors too for once the weather warms up! It's really close to the Transmitter Park as well, so super convenient to take your drink to go. Service was really friendly, and although it is a small area behind the counter and it was busy, drinks came out relatively quickly. The Blackberry Pie Matcha was honestly incredible. I'm typically someone who gravitates towards seasonal/fun drinks, so this is right up my alley. I don't know how they did it, but they really captured the pie flavor in this drink. It was almost buttery and custard-y and paired super nicely with the matcha and fruitiness of the blackberry. Everyone in the Transmitter Park had a cup, so I need to try their coffee as well.

We had a delightful dinner, service was great, the owner herself waited on us, she is fabulous. The restaurant is very cute, it's really like a neighborhood trattoria where all the locals eat, casual and relaxed. The place had a great vibe, lots of people enjoying themselves. We had a bottle of wine, apps, mains, and the most moist olive cake I've ever had, all at a great value. We will be coming to this restaurant often since we live close by.

I had the pancakes, which came with blueberry compote, Greek yogurt, and hazelnut spread. My dining partner went for what I believe was the Sicilian Shakshuka -- tomato and vegetable stew, olives, bread, and eggs. The pancakes were solid: just the right amount of maple syrup. They were a little on the dry side, but still tasty, helped along by what seemed like Nutella or another chocolate-hazelnut sauce. Not mind-blowing, but satisfying and definitely hit the spot. Overall, a pleasant brunch -- we left full and happy. I'd be glad to come back the next time I'm in Brooklyn. Last visited: August 23, 2025
