Sausage (pork), egg, and cheese sandwich on a croissant
    Samantha S.

La Cafeteria has an extensive menu, serving breakfast all day alongside other options. We ordered a sausage, egg, & cheese sandwich on a croissant and the pancakes, bacon, & eggs. They had different varieties of sausage and cheese to choose from and asked how we wanted the eggs made. The food was excellent and fairly priced, and their service was quick and attentive. The restaurant's large, clean dining area has ample seating to accommodate small and large groups for a casual bite. I'm glad to have La Cafeteria in the neighborhood and will be returning often.

It's like eating at your favorite Dominican family's home. You walk in and are greeted with a smile and a welcoming gesture to sit anywhere you like. Once seated, a waitress takes your order. I had the traditional breakfast of mangu con tres and a large natural juice. The space is large enough that you're not sitting right on top of the people next to you, yet small enough to have a conversation with them.

    Fefi's Sandwich... delicious!!!!!

It's not often that I want eggs, but when I do my preferences, a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. The teenager and I were looking on Uber Eats for breakfast sandwiches and came across La Cafeteria BK. Even though it's a popular sandwich, a lot of new places overcharge severely. My other gripe is that some places do not use pork, bacon in bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches. La Cafeteria BK not only has your standard BEC sandwich, they have a BEC sandwich on French toast! We found our sandwich! How bad could it be? Could it be a miss? The worst that could happen would be that the French toast was dry and made with low quality bread. Guess what?! This BEC on French toast, also known as Fefi's Sandwich was EVERYTHING! The French toast portion was made with a fluffy bread and was griddled just enough not to be dry but dry enough to hold up scrambled eggs and bacon with cheese. The cinnamon and spices, as per French toast were present, but altogether with bacon, eggs and cheese... A complete flavor bomb! The teenager inhaled her sandwich before I could even finish 1/2 lol. We will definitely try other menu items, as well as visit the location, which is not far from home.

"This place fucks heavy," said my Chicago-born Mexican boyfriend. It's one of those places that's totally inconspicuous but efficiently brings Dominican home-cooking to your door. It's astonishing how fast they are without losing quality. Highly recommend the Los tres golpas (eggs, fried cheese, salami, mangu with pickled onions). It's a revelation bc this place does it so well. Also got the chicharonnes and a breakfast wrap. This wrap is def one of those everyday go-to items. The fried pork was done so well too Truly ace Dominican cooking

The food is excellent, I went there two days in a row. Service is very good and polite. Ambiance is okay, it's the food and service that will win you over.

I went with two friends so were able to try three different sandwiches and to be honest, they were all just alright. The food: Roast Pork Special- Fried Eggplant, Provolone, Broccoli Rob- The texture of the pork came off a bit dry, the eggplant was good but kinda gets lost in the sandwich so if I literally had it on it's own I would have appreciated it more but who eats fried eggplant by itself? The rob was nice it added a nice crunch but didn't offer that much flavor. Giuseppe Special- Eggplant parm, meatballs, melted mozzarella. I couldn't get over how soggy the bread was. It was like wet paper towel to me. Soggy bread and everything kinda tasting the same made it underwhelming. Nicky Special- It just tasted like salad in between bread. There was so much veg, that was the main thing I remember in that sandwich.

There's a couple of tables in a small store. Above the register there's a menu board resembling a train departures board, cycling through the options (it looks neat, but the printed out menu on your right is a lot more practical). There's a cooler with drinks and salads as you enter on the right. The sandwiches, however, are something special. On my first visit I went with something familiar, the Mean Streets (their Italian sandwich). The bread itself is fantastic (locally baked), and the toppings delicious as well (if I recall correctly the dressings are house made). Pleasantly, they also give you a paper plate with your order, which is a nice touch compared to eating off a wrapper. I enjoyed the first sandwich so much I came back the next day to try the No Sleep Til Gravesend. The sandwich is essentially a hot roast beef sandwich, with a jus on the sandwich reminiscent of a French Dip. Perfect on a cold, rainy day. Overall, 1 of 1 has great (and mostly house made) ingredients and great execution. There's a level of creativity on the menu that you rarely see elsewhere in the city. 1 of 1 is among the best sandwich shops in the city, and a very welcome addition to the area.

And one of the greatest chefs I've ever had the pleasure to know. And I've known my share of cats who made their livings and their names in a kitchen. From the very first day I discovered Brancaccio's I felt a magic a connection that I knew would change my life, make my belly really f--kin' happy and set my soul a-dancin'. On that first day Joe and I talked about the great food of NY; most of it gone but not forgotten by those who were of the time. We both lamented the lose of the legendary Zito's bakery on Bleecker. I can't tell you how long it had been since I'd ran into someone who even remembered Zito's much less was intimate with the place. I knew I was home. This was well over a decade ago. I won't go into specific things on Joe's menu that are worth trying because quite literally... everything is amazing. It just is! Soul satisfying beyond my ability to do justice to. I'd also like to throw out as an example of the humanity of the joint and it's capt. Joe... Joe treats his employees with respect, R E S P E C T as Aretha belted, dignity and the aforementioned humanity which is beautiful and virtually non-existent these days as far as I can see... and you can taste it in his food. That's just a big-ass Right On! Finally I like to say two or three things: First that as I initially identified myself as "used to being a regular" as and this is by no means a boo-hoo thing simply a fact... I fell pretty ill for a while and am just now beginning my reentry into the world. And as a matter of fact during the recent drag of days for me a thought kept slamming into the walls of my head and that was that I couldn't wait to once again sink my teeth into Joe's food. Well that day is here and I'm salivating at the thought. "I'll take one of everything my man!" Secondly, understand I've never written anything like this... I'm actually down on the whole review culture. So if this sounds at all "over the top"... or written by a cousin who Joe owes money to, get that thought right out of your head. All of I said is sincere and one from the heart. And lastly an additional "oh yea baby" to Joe's taste in music.

The owner has the typical New Yorker vibe--blunt and a fun character overall. We went with the chicken cutlet with prosciutto, artichoke, fontina, and herb sauce, along with the sausage with cheese and added broccoli rabe. Between the two, I'd get the chicken for sure. It was pretty tasty, but I must say I wasn't as blown away as I'd expected. The sausage sandwich got a bit soggy from all of the marinara (which I wasn't expecting based on the description), so I was less excited about it. It was way too much food for two people. Like one sandwich is plenty for two, but I got greedy with wanting to try too much. We had a ton leftover! I would have probably rated it 3.5 stars, but the German roach running around pained me to see and stole my appetite. I'd want to say I'd come back and try one of those delicious sounding breakfast sandwiches, but roaches are a hard sell for me.

This is not your ordinary New York bodega, this is the shop of General Ock, who sells various sandwiches in his renowned Ocky Way. So what is the Ocky Way? The Ocky Way is not just a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and onions, it is also about presentation and style. The sandwich is made loudly with a flair for the dramatic, from the time your food hits the flat top to when it is center cut and put in a clamshell container. What about the food? It really is pretty good! I got the Chopped Cheese the Ocky Way and it was something I really enjoyed. I recommend you get it with the Jamaican Patty as that is what makes the flavors work best. You can also do it with a waffle or pancake or whatever bread you like. All you have to do is scarf it down. You can also put your own toppings on your sandwich if you want for an extra premium à la Farmer in the Deli style. Farmer in the Deli is another well known bodega in Fort Greene, known for finely chopping their meat into a sandwich, one I highly recommend as well.
