You still get that luxuriously creamy and decadent ice cream minus the guilt. I always have a pint of ice cream at home in addition to my little fixes. The space is pretty small and can get packed during peak hours but there is seating outside and a ton to do in the surrounding area is you wanted to take your ice cream to go. They also have a really nice variety of flavors with some creative, unique mixes that stand out. I sampled three flavors: hazelnut coffee, grandma's apple pie, and the chai. I ultimately settled on the apple pie, which was delicious. It was creamy, well-balanced, and honestly you wouldn't even know it's vegan. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to a past visit where there were refrigeration issues and communication around timing could have been clearer. We were initially told to come back in about an hour, but it ended up taking significantly longer than expected. Stopped in this place unexpectedly after having dinner nearby. Luckily it was open until 11 and we slid in right before it closed. They had some interesting flavors and since no one was waiting in line the guy behind the counter was nice enough to let us taste some different ice-cream combos. Unbeknownst to us, combining different flavors was the way to do it! Apparently, it's a vegan icecream shop and all the flavors are vegan but it was not advertised so we only thought one flavor was vegan. Nevertheless, all the flavors we tasted were amazing. I ended up landing on a combination of Hazel and Joe and Monkey Business. I believe their flavors change so those may not be there when I go back but the combo was amazing. I went three days in a row for a treat LOL. This is a Black-owned vegan ice cream (and cookie) joint. All of the ice creams are coconut-based, and flavors include Madagascar vanilla bean, chocolate, key lime custard pie, cookies & creme, and so many more. They're very generous about their samples, and they offer silver tasting spoons... so much washing, sheesh! They also sell maple syrup in two sizes, and that's because literally everything is sweetened with maple. No direct sugar either?! Seriously, what a treat. And another thing I love about it is one scoop is only $4.99 -- for a vegan spot that's incredible. Now, mind you, it's not a giant Coldstone scoop, but it just feels better than paying the $7+ I'm used to seeing. They don't have toppings yet, but the ice cream is a treat on its own. ($4 /scoop here) Maple Creamery had a whole spread and the best part is you'd never know it wasn't made with milk or eggs unless you asked! The owner Collin (sp?) started experimenting with making his own desserts after getting these 'ice cream hangovers' from too much dairy, cane sugars and other products. Perfecting his craft and sharing it with friends encouraged him to get a full blown store. And I couldn't be more grateful The secret is coconut cream.. a natural thick and tasty byproduct of just one thing... coconuts. I was there Sunday evening. The product is good , the space is clean, I parked noy too far from the place. It's a nice neighborhood so you may have to go atound the block but its not impossible. The price was reasonable. The problem was the customer service. The young lady who was working that day was disinterested. After serving us I put my head down to put my credit card in my purse. I looked up she was already on her phone. When I asked for my receipt she looked like I was bothering for asking for one. The machine was out of paper so it never printed.
