Had the Vegan Pistachio Ice Cream scoop for $5, and had 3 other vegan options to choose from made from Oat Milk or Sorbet style. Almost forgot it was vegan because of how creamy it was, and the large pistachio full chunks were a textural treat. Friendly service and fun to chat with when the shop wasn't busy. Afternoon or early evening hours make it an ideal stop for after school treats or early evening dessert. Small little shop with one table and a few chairs inside, but it also connects through a sliding door to the Lark Cafe next door- so perhaps you can take the ice cream there as well to pair with some coffee. read more

Not sure why the average stars for this shop on Yelp is below 4! I love coming here whenever I can with my girlfriend, the blue zoo flavor is my favorite and I had the Dulce De Leche too. My girlfriend got the mango sorbet and thought it was delicious, but she ended up liking my blue zoo scoop more lol. Employee in the shop was very nice too and friendly! read more

The ice cream is delicious and it's a great addition to the neighborhood. But it's quite expensive and they need to do better with allergy awareness. My daughter has a gluten allergy (celiac), and although they have gluten free cones (hooray!) I asked them if they washed their scoop between orders and they responded "of course, we always do". I then watched them rinse their scoop under water - no soap used. That is quite dangerous for people with allergies - gluten, dairy or nuts - as it leads to cross-contamination. It's not that difficult to wash a utensil off with water and soap, but they seemed surprised when I asked them to wash it with soap. Isn't that the definition of "wash"? They need to do better. read more

Stumbled upon this small ice cream shop. Scoops are quite expensive (1 scoop - $5, 2 scoops $7, and 3 scoops $9), Asked to taste a few flavors (pink grapefruit(v), pistachio, and apricot orange blossom). I sort expected these three flavors to have a real fruits/nuts in the ice cream but was disappointed that they didn't have any so it tasted very artificial which I didn't like. Lastly, asked to taste the lemoncello which tasted the most natural in flavor so I ended up getting that one. Got the scoop and it was smaller than expected. Definitely do not see myself coming back. read more

I perked up at the sight of this brand new ice cream shop that opened recently on this quiet stretch of Church Avenue. It appears to be attached to the long established Lark Cafe next door, which I realize now has long served Jane's Ice Cream. Their original location is based in the Hudson Valley and on their website they proudly state that they use the best chocolate, real fruit, and pure vanillas to make their ice cream, whose recipes have been passed down through generations. A scoop will set you back just $4.25, which feels like a low price of yesteryear, but a milkshake cost $8, which feels more in line with contemporary Brooklyn prices. I ordered the "Insta-Graham"-- a graham cracker and chocolate flavor as a milkshake, and it was blended right away so I was in and out of the shop with my drink in minutes. The quality of the cream was pretty good, and the sweetness of the ice cream just right. I wish the ice cream itself had more texture and it would've been nice to have a larger straw to make drinking the shake a little easier, but all in all this was a solid and charming ice cream shop just blocks away from home. read more

Saw this new ice cream place on Yelp & decided to give a try since I was in the neighborhood anyway. Checked their website & saw they serve more interesting flavors of ice cream, so that instantly attracted me since I LOVE unconventional ice cream flavors. It's attached to a coffee shop next door, small little ice cream place but quite alot of different flavors available. Got 2 scoops for $6 ish and they're very generous size scoops :D Tried the Orange apricot blossom and Limoncello, both were refreshing and tasty! Can taste these are higher quality ice cream. Not overly sweet and just nice. Would love to return to try more flavors! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by their ice cream given they only had a few reviews. We got the Apricot Orange Blossom and Unicorn Cake. Unicorn cake was nice and creamy while the Apricot Orange Blossom was light and floral. The space was small and there was no indoor seating. There was a table and two seats outside. The one person working there was very friendly and inviting. I would go back again if I'm in the area. read more

Ate dinner next door and had to give this place a try for dessert. They're from the Hudson area. The space is small but they have a pretty decent selection of flavors. I had a scoop of the blue zoo (vanilla ice cream made blue with spirulina, animal crackers and chocolate chips) and a scoop of German chocolate cake. I really enjoyed the blue zoo, German chocolate cake had coconut in every bite. The server was nice, answered all our questions and gave us samples. Definitely a nice addition to a neighborhood where there's not a lot of dessert spots. They do close on the earlier side, definitely worth s try if you're around when they're opened. read more

I really enjoy that I have options close by that are non-dairy! However, management really needs to educate the people working behind the counter. When I went to visit this past Saturday I asked several questions of the person working, does a particular ice cream (cherry chocolate vegan) have gluten? ("I'm not sure") and what milk is used with the ice creams marked with a "V" (their response was "um I really don't know". Huh? How in the heck are we supposed to make informed choices if we have food allergies or limitations with this type of service!!!! I ended up going for the pomegranate molasses V and hoping it didn't have gluten in it, I am not celiac but I do respond pretty intensely to gluten. I think I'm safe 24 hours later but I'm still not sure what kind of milk was used! Not very much of a pomegranate flavor but definitely molasses and intense sweetness. While I like having this option close by I do hope that they do better. read more

I went to Janes ice cream parlor, on Friday 10/13/23, about4pm. The girl who was working there was actually sitting in front of the place doing something on her phone, I realized this as I walked into the place and no one was there. She came in behind me after sitting outside and didn't wash her hands, she had her phone in her hand, reach for ONE glove to serve me. I just walked out, I will find somewhere else to get ice cream. This same thing happened about 4 Saturdays ago, a girl was sitting in the store eating a sandwich, when I walked in she just stood up, didn't wash her hands nor put gloves on! They've always got lots of lovely flavors - Apricot Blossom, Salted Caramel Pretzel, Unicorn Cake, Blue Zoo, and the best vegan ice cream in Brooklyn -- Cherry Chocolate Chunk. The portions are exceptional for the price and quality. If you got hooked on Jane's during an upstate trip - this is the place to get your fix. The ice cream is delicious but their servings are very small. In the last couple of days I've gotten two different servings of a two scoop cup and they're incredibly small.
