The decor of Ice Cream House is adorable and is like walking into a movie scene. There is a couple of kiosk machines by the entrance and the staff would call your number to get your dessert at the counter after ordering. The option of their flavors is in a great variety and we had a super difficult time making our decisions. We would like to try something new, so we got Halva and Biscotti. This place is EXTREMELY RACIST and HOSTILE to anyone non jewish, despite them having ethnic workers. The jewish customers that stay here LOVE LOVE LOVE to stare anyone of colour down, i am brown, could you imagine how hard they would stare at anyone black? There is a cow shaped chair that is meant to be sat on, we were kicked off, but the Hasidic kids were not. The vibe is beyond hostile, i simply cannot explain just how much. There was a radius around me that no jewish person in the building would even dare to approach even if it was life threatening. The stares you get is constant and never ever will you have an experience from them that isn't different. They are literally bordering a brown community and they still act like this. 9/29/22 The first thing I noticed about Ice Cream House is that they have parking spots in front of the shop. That's a rarity in Brooklyn. The inside has a very cute decor. Bright and colorful. There is an adorable ice cream truck parked between the entrance and the dining area. You can order electronically from tablets that are conveniently placed along the queue area. I ordered the nachos. The chips were nice and crispy. I requested cheese. It was very liquidy, cool, and had a thick skin covering the top. I also ordered some salsa for an additional $2. This was even colder and had a sweetness to it. Both of these were not the greatest nacho dipping sauces but this is an ice cream house after all. Gigantic lines and huge crowds, but I see why. This is a large, family-friendly ice cream and pizza parlor. It was packed--absolutely STUFFED with kids, so much so I could barely stand the wait. In any case, there are tons and tons of flavors here. A large portion of the selection is non-dairy as well. You'll find something you like, if you're not a huge grouch. TL;DR: I found a hair in my ice cream the last time I went. The staff seemed amused by this and offered only to give me another bowl instead of a refund. Go at your own risk. This place looks amazing, and that is clearly their focus, as the food, service, and cleanliness are all lacking. I ordered from this place on Seamless a few weeks ago. Two small cups of ice cream, two flavors each. After I put in my order I got a call from them to say they didn't have the flavors I asked for, so I picked different ones, which was fine. It took almost an hour for the food to come and the delivery guy made me come outside in a rainstorm because he couldn't find parking. When I came inside I found that they'd given me the wrong flavors on one of the orders. The ice cream itself was fine, but nothing special. Because of the lack of options for ice cream in the neighborhood, I decided to give it another try, this time in person. We arrived around 8 on a weeknight and despite there being a ton of people behind the counter and only one group of two people in front of us, it still took a while to be served. My wife ordered a beet and carrot juice, which she said tasted like it wasn't made with fresh ingredients. As I walked outside I put my spoon into the top scoop of ice cream and found a hair. Further digging found more hair woven into the ice cream as if it had been mixed in. I immediately went back to ask to speak to a manager and the person I spoke to seemed to find it amusing that there was hair in the ice cream, said something about, "Oh yeah there is another employee here..." before trailing off. I asked to speak to a manager and he just ignored me. I didn't want to cause a scene so he just brought me another bowl of ice cream, which didn't appear to have hair in it but I didn't eat. My favorite thing about summer: Ice Cream. Second favorite thing: longer days. The Ice Cream House has both of these things. This place is so unique and interesting I don't even know where to begin, but I'll stick with why I'm here, and thats for the ice cream. They have a huge selection of both dairy and non-dairy (vegan) ice cream options. They allow sampling prior to making a choice. The lines get pretty long, but they move pretty swiftly and if you're patient, it's well worth the 5 - 8 minute wait. They have an interesting array of ice cream cakes and various brands of ice cream stocked in their freezer (none of which I ever heard of, all of which I am excited to explore). The place also has a clear identity and community (which I positively love!) Most of the patrons are Hasidic or Orthodox Jewish people (assuming from nearby Borough Park) and the staff is a 50/50 ratio of Jewish folk and Central/South American dudes. It's pretty neat! The ice cream itself is amazing. It has richness and it has depth. It's really cold, and I know all ice cream is cold, but this is kept especially so that you can almost feel the cool smoke escaping your mouth after your first bite. The flavors are really intense, i.e. the Tiramisu actually tastes like eating a piece of Tiramisu. It was kind of mind blowing how accurate it is. The cookies and cream flavor was a perfect mix of rich vanilla and chunks of cookie. You can certainly taste the difference between the Ice Cream House and other big box corporate places. The fact that this is smack in the middle of no-man's land in Brooklyn makes it all the more charming and appealing (at least, for me...) And, they're open until 11:00pm. The Ice Cream House is definitely worth a visit for this family-friendly, Kosher, community ice cream shop. I don't recommend going there for ice cream during covid times. No customers in there wears a mask but all employees do. There's a sign on the door saying no mask no entry but they did not enforce it inside the store. It is just super crowded with everyone waiting for their order wearing no masks including a lot of kids and adults (most.. I mean 99% of them are Jews). We waited pretty long for our order (maybe 10-15mins) and the employees forgot one of my Friends order so he waited around 15-20mins .. at the end we had to remind them that he is still waiting for his order. They also have ice cream sticks or ice cream cakes in the fridge. You have to order digitally yourself once you get inside the store. Plus this place is huge plus they have a second level. One more cool thing about this store is that if you order a ice cream cone, they wrap ice cream with a clear wrapper and put it in a cup so you don't have to eat it right away in the street. **But for now, it's NOT SAFE TO GO THERE AT ALL!! The lines can be intimidating, but well worth the wait! They have both dairy and non-dairy, and while I can't speak to the non-dairy options, the ice cream is delicious! The flavor are almost over indulgently rich and the portions are unexpectedly large for the reasonable price. Worth the wait. I've tried about six flavors by now, and they've all been excellent. I live in the neighborhood and my rent just went up. I can totally justify the increase after eating at this place for the first time. I'm guessing the more reviews this place gets the more people will be in line the next time i go there and the more expensive it will become. So, It's at the end of church avenue where you would more likely expect to be mugged than to be served ice cream. The store is huge. It's almost kitchy and almost cartoonish decor is admirably bizarre against the jewish religious music that was playing while i was there. The choices seem endless. There was even a salad bar, a juice bar and pastries. I do not partake in the dairy so the non-dairy choices here blew my mind. They're open late and they have parking spots on their premises. This business is straight up racist! Didnt serve us even though we were first in line, instead kept serving the people behind us, because they were their own kind! I asked to speak to the manager, told him about it and he didnt seem to care. I brought my kids a few times and we enjoyed the ice cream. But today we went and felt the discrimination. Me and my family came when there was no line and assume we could step to the counter and order. As the kids were picking their choice of ice cream, no one was approaching us to serve. So, the place was packed when we visited late on Thursday night, and I think I can see why. 4.25 gets you a medium cup, heaped high with ice cream or sorbet- a small mountain, in fact, larger than most places' large. I went with their dairy ice cream- the pistachio was okay, and the coffee was VERY good, both very creamy and not too sweet. I usually can't get through very much ice cream, but I managed to eat pretty much all of it. My friend got sorbet, mango and kiwi, and it was simply superlative, very delicate and light and marvelously fruity. The non-dairy flavors that were more ice-cream-y looked pretty good, too; I definitely would recommend this place to any central/south Brooklyn lactards. (Sidenote: I wanted to find out if the non-dairy ice cream products were actually vegan. While I know Klein's is beloved among veg* people, in terms of Jewish dietary law, in order to be non-dairy, a food has to be produced without milk-by-products on machinery that hasn't been used to handle dairy; eggs are considered parve/neutral for kosher purposes. So, I Googled around, and their website lists ingredients for all of their non-dairy ice cream products; some are vegan, but a few have eggs, so definitely check beforehand or ask if you're concerned. However, it seems pretty clear that their sorbets are, in fact, vegan, and also extremely delicious.) Also, I have to give an additional half-star for being one of the friendliest Orthodox establishments I've ever been in; me and my friend are both weird hipstery secular people, and we were treated very nicely.
