This place is a hidden gem! When Cee and I were walking around in the area we decided to stop here to get a quick treat. There was so much to choose from. I ended getting the large Italian ice which had three scoops for less than $5. Cee got the ice cream and loved it. They couldn't stop talking about how great the ice cream was. Unfortunately, the ice cream spot doesn't have any outdoor seating and it's more of a hole in the wall and can get very crowded easily. We will visit again if we are in the area. read more

Cute and unexpected ice cream parlor we encountered on a walk around our airbnb neighborhood. It's location near a playground was ideal, especially since there isn't any indoor or outdoor seating. They had a nice assortment of hand dipped ice cream flavors and Italian ices. Ice cream was $3.50/scoop (much more affordable than a Park Slope ice cream shop which cost $5.50/scoop the day before discovering Kathy's). The one scoop was more like a 2 scoop serving and was the perfect size. Undecided at first because they offered a handful of flavor combinations I hadn't seen before and wanted to try samples were provided. The teenage employee was courteous and worked swiftly. The place was busy and we did wait in line a good 15 minutes, it was clear a second employee was needed. The midnight caramel did not disappoint. Hubby got his standard cookies and cream and thought his was delicious as well. This is obviously a very popular spot with the residents of Windsor Terrace and a neighborhood gem. Fun Stephy Fact: I actually prefer a unique flavored (not the usual cherry, mango, lemon, chocolate, rainbow found in most pizza Italian icee carts) Italian icee or shaved ice to ice cream about 8 out of 10 times. Nothing against those flavors, but things like Vanilla Chip, Mint Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Cookie Dough and Rainbow Cookie (notice a pattern?) all get me more excited! I walked past this place when going to meet Ingrid S. at a near by craft beer bar. On the way to a 2nd stop over that we had to walk over the footbridge and by it again - but this time, despite having to use the restroom something fierce, I couldn't walk by it again. It was a gorgeous summer evening and Steph needed her Italian Icee fix so we decided to make a quick stop. Kathy's Gourmet Italian Ices & Ice Cream has a wonderful selection of flavors - ice cream scoops, cones, sundaes, milkshakes, ice cream/coffee concoctions, italian ices and more! We went the simple route and each ordered 1 scoop of Italian icee for $2.45. I ordered Mint Chocolate Chip (after almost having gone with the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough) and Ingrid went with with the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough. Both were delicious. My Mint Chocolate Chip was as creamy as an icee can get and had a generous amount of chocolate chips, but not so much so that it was overwhelming. Ingrid's icee was like nothing I had ever tasted before in an icee, so peanut buttery and perfect. I definitely plan on getting that flavor next time I find myself around these parts...that or their Birthday Cake ice cream...because, well, BIRTHDAY CAKE. This is sad. How the hell does Kathy have zero reviews?!!!! Ergo, this is my 700th. I've passed this place hundreds of times in my neighborhood. It's conjoined with a pizza spot as well. But for some reason, never stopped by until Steph convinced me into it tonight. It's very similar if not the same to a Ralph's Italian icey shop. Only $2.50 for a regular scoop just almost like the ole days. I got the peanut butter cookie dough and Steph the mint chocolate chip Italian ice and both were heaven. Real quick pit stop to just grab an ice cream, was $3.50 for a regular in a cup! Just pulled up parked hopped out and back on the road in a couple minutes. I got the coconut, which was great, creamy and has the shaved coconut pieces mixed in. Glad I stopped! read more

Angie! I don't understand your problem with the establishment they are the most courteous ice Cream parlor in Brooklyn and I've been to many very Kid friendly to say the least. Common sense will tell you that when you are served ices the spoon normally gets put in the ices the spoon does not become dirty because it was in the ices, businesses are not in the business to give u additional spoons because you deemed a clean spoon dirty next time try being Courteous to the next establishment you visit. Okay the ice cream is great! I had the chocolate brownie. Trying the Italian ice next and probably every other flavor after that. They are CASH ONLY. I failed to have any cash on me the first time I went so I came back the next day with cash. This little spot is a gem. They also make some of the best birthday cake ice cream I've ever had. There aren't a whole lot of places like this anymore where you can get delicious, home-made ice cream through a little take-out window until 11:00pm. Great neighborhood ice cream shop! They have a bunch of homemade ice creams and Italian ices. I've only done the ice cream. Also, I've only gotten the peanut butter chocolate chip which is DELICIOUS, there are swirls of peanut butter in the ice cream. Prices are SUPER reasonable, but cash only - so remember your $$$$. If you want a used spoon for ice cream in your to go bag, this is a place to go to. You will get to the bad attitude from the worker. The manager who allow employee to say fuck word to customer in front of 8 years old girl. 3 of us was ordering 7 cups of ice cream. I forget to mention that 4 of those will be to go. The rude worker stick the spoon on every cup. I then ask for a carrying tray to get it for my friends. She doesn't have one so I asked to put them in the bag. She took out the spoon and put the lid on. I was totally surprised to see she wipe those plastic spoon that dirty with ice cream and put them in the bag. I ask her to get rid of that and put new plastic spoon which probably cost a cent in the bag. I refuse to give dirty looking spoon that look like someone has used them once already to my 4 other friends. The girl looked at me and said NO I'm not giving another spoons. It is your fault not to tell me it to go??? I couldn't believe she just said that. I asked her whether she will use used looking spoon? She walked away and sat down and start reading her stuff. How rude!! Attitude!!! Is that mean if I drop a spoon and ask for another one I won't be able to get it coz it is such a waste? I asked for manager. She said she is not here and start to use F... word to get me out and took the time to walk to the door and ready to go physical. I still there waiting for the manager who is helpful with the spoon but still let the girl spill bad words again and again.
