Located near Park Slope, this location is a lot less busy than their Manhattan location (although there still was a fair line at 10pm!). It's somewhat pinkberry-esque, with around 6 flavors available to you that you can try and toppings that you can add on top. About ten(ish) years ago when I worked in Midtown Manhattan East, Culture An American Yogurt Company opened up a location near my job. This was during the height of the "Froyo craze" when you couldn't throw a stick without hitting a Pinkberry so I was trying different shops looking for good Froyo. Culture immediately set itself apart from the pack. Their Froyo has wonderful flavor and sweetness without screaming "SUGAR" and it has a wonderful tang to it that I did not get with any other brand. I went often (at least twice a week) but then - they shut down and I thought the entire chain was gone. Much to my delight, I recently saw that Culture has a location in the West Village, but I kid you not, every single time I passed it I had just eaten so I was too full to try it. Recently while visiting Park Slope, I ran into this location and was ecstatic. I headed inside eager to see if their Froyo was still as good as I remembered! The interior is very charming. You can tell this is an older building and the shop was once...*something* else (what, I have no idea). A bright interior, exposed brick and wood counter make this a welcoming shop. The staff was super friendly and patient as I browsed the menu. I wound up ordering Mango Froyo (but I also tried a sample of the Eggnog flavor). The Eggnog flavor was really good, I was very close to getting it. It had wonderful Eggnog flavor but was not overly sweet. The "tang" at the end of a bite that I remembered from the old days was still there and I was thrilled. I wound up getting a kid's size Mango Froyo which is more than enough for me (easily about 8 spoonfuls). Like the Eggnog flavor it was not overly sweet and it had that wonderful tang at the end (I promise that is the last time I will use that word in this review). The mango flavor was perfect. Wow! I'm a huge fan albeit a new one. I'd been eyeing this place forever when walking by but it has just been so cold out the last thing I could think of was frozen yogurt. Anyways, the weather has been wonderful the last several days and while I was on a walk I finally decided it was time to stop in. It's a little pricey compared to other frozen yogurt spots, but the quality is above other frozen yogurt spots, so you get what you pay for. This is frozen Greek yogurt as opposed to frozen regular yogurt, so the taste and texture are slightly different. I got the original which is a nice "plain tart" if you will, and topped it off with strawberries and honey. It made for a tasty treat that didn't feel overly indulgent and might I say - maybe a little healthy? (I'm going to keep telling myself that anyway). They have a decent amount of toppings and flavors. I usually just like plain tart but maybe I'll give some more a shot. If you love a tart frozen yogurt, you will die for Culture. It is probably the best original tart froyo I have ever had, and I also love their other flavors. What makes Culture super cool is that they actually "culture" all their own yogurts, which in turn have live probiotics. This makes the yogurt healthy and digestible.... along with being delicious. My favorite flavors (and the only ones I've tried: -original tart (I got this with their pumpkin topping and it was unreal. And after a delicious dinner of sourdough pizza at Leo, our stomachs pulled us over to Culture on our last night in Brooklyn :) We were greeted by two friendly employees who were both welcoming and offered us samples of their fun froyo flavors (green tea passionfruit! Would have gotten this if I wasn't preggers haha). We ultimately ordered the original and chocolate cherry, both satisfyingly tart and flavorful (I never crave non-fat froyos, not as tasty). The raspberry sauce felt like the tailend of summer, but the pie crust had a bit of a weird flavor like it had soaked up refrigerator smell so I avoided. We got one of their Vermont maple pecan yogurt cups to-go, thick with a good sweetness level for breakfast the next day. I noticed a lot of people getting the ready-made yogurt in the fridge, so must be a popular item to bring home. They had about 4 different flavors to choose from and a long list of toppings. It looks like they also serve drinks and smoothies. We opted for a small Original flavor froyo with 4 toppings. It's definitely not on the cheap end.. it cost over $7 for our small, but it was a nice treat! I love tart flavors (think Pinkberry), and this was a good amount of tart. You can get 1 topping for $0.75 or 4 toppings for $1.50.
