Cute Levain bakery thats never crowded. Plenty of seating available and they are always fully stocked with giant, sweet, delicious cookies. The staff was very friendly and we were able to have their full attention as there was nobody else in attendance! We got their seasonal cookies and they are all delicious. I usually only have 1/2 or 1/4 as they are very sweet and freeze them. When I bake them in the toaster oven, they are rejuvenated and as melty and delicious as when they were freshly baked! So, I got the chocolate banana bread like I normally do and it was devine as per usual. I want to preface my review by saying I expect for things to be a little different because this is New York, there's a bigger audience and rush. My only gripe is that my hometown levain cuts the slices bigger and that makes me feel like I wasted money at this location. I've been to a lot of bakeries as I have a sweet tooth. I really loved their cookies, business model and friendly customer service. They have several locations in New York and I found one in my visit to Williamsburg, Brooklyn today. Our server was really nice, explained all their cookies, gave some great recommendations and she was on the money. Their story is of two friends back in the 1990's who started baking bread for local restaurants from their bakery on West 74 street in Manhattan. The word "Levain" in French is leavened bread. They were also tri-athletes on the side, they made the chocolate chip walnut cookies to keep their energy up. They made a sample batch and I guess their customers loved them. The rest is history. They can ship anywhere, donate any unsold goods to local charities at the end of each day. They use fresh ingredients, the cookies weigh almost a half pound. They have many other baked goods, have drinks and it's a nice store to take a break at. We had the walnut chocolate chip cookie, the chocolate peanut butter cookie and the rocky road cookie. Everything was very clean, easy checkout and no waiting time when I was there. I highly recommend them and understand the hype. read more

Love this location! They're open early so I've grabbed pastries and cookies for coworkers before work and everyone is always so kind and everything is super fresh. Staff is super friendly and they have plenty of seating available now which is really nice! Makes it a great spot to grab coffee and pastries with friends. 9/10 experience. The customer service is great! The workers look like they genuinely want to be there and are accommodating. We went in on a crazy busy Friday night and the line went through the door, so we had to wait outside but only for about 5 minutes. The wait was about 10 minutes long altogether, then we had to wait for the cookies themselves as they were baking. The ambiance inside the store itself is cute. I love the trimmings on the walls and ceiling, the light fixtures, the collage of pictures on the wall, color scheme, and cute balloon decorations!! The only complaint I have is that the cookies were not fully baked (or at least they seemed to not be baked). I don't plan on defaming this establishment, but l've had Levain cookies plenty of times before and they seemed to be thoroughly cooked. I understand it was super busy tonight, but the outer parts of the cookies were fine while the center was still quite soft. It almost tasted like straight batter. Overall, we really enjoyed our trip here and will be returning! The prices seem very fair, we only ended up paying $23 for a dark chocolate cookie, chocolate chip cookie, lemon cookie and a whole wheat bread which was huge! read more

She gave us a choice and I chose the bag w/ a dark chocolate chocolate chip and an oatmeal raisin w/ walnuts. I was reluctant to take the oatmeal raisin because I have never forgiven raisins for pretending to be chocolate chips when I was a child, but the walnuts helped and I wanted that dark chocolate chocolate chip. Lori encouraged me to try the oatmeal raisin and I did. It was good! I couldn't tell the raisins were raisins. The cookies are huge! Normally I will break cookies in half and have the pieces on successive days. These are big enough to be broken in thirds or quarters. I'm someone who's not fussy about the texture of cookies. Soft or crispy, I don't care. If it's a cookie, I like it. Evidently even oatmeal raisin, in this case. I asked Lori the name of the bakery where she had bought them and she told me. When I looked it up to write this review I found there were several locations so I chose one, Brooklyn, because that's where my mother was born in 1918. It's as good a reason as any. I just had another piece of the oatmeal raisin cookie w/ my afternoon cup of tea and found the raisins actually tasty. If the raisins of my childhood had been this good I probably wouldn't held my lifelong grudge against them in baked goods, the only grudge I've ever harbored. I'm looking forward to trying the dark chocolate chocolate chip cookie when I finish this one and appreciate Lori introducing me to them. read more

Levian lived up to the hype in my opinion! Tried the fall chocolate chunk, chocolate chip walnut, and dark chocolate chocolate chip flavors. Am not a huge fan of fall spiced things but the fall chocolate chunk cookie was really good. My favorite is the chocolate chip walnut, great flavor and texture especially with the crunchy walnut bits. Order and get food at the counter, and there is some cafe seating inside. What's not to love about levain bakery and their ginormous cookies?? I've been a fan for some time and have mostly been to the Manhattan one but this location is also just as good and great staff! Super friendly and cool staff and also very patient with me coming back to the counter to order more cookies for souvenirs for my friends. I would say my top fave flavors is still the chocolate chip walnut and the dark chocolate peanut butter ones, but the double chocolate chip seems to be a fan favorite as well for the double chocolate chip portions with every bite. They also have cute levain tote bags for about $20 each and you bet I got myself one after carrying my friend's levain bakery tote bag - very sturdy after carrying 3 bottles of vitamin water. Levain Bakery lives up to its hype! Whenever I have high expectations of a place, I usually end up a little disappointed and think that it's just a social media phase. BUT, this was not the case for Levain. I ordered the Chocolate Chip Walnut cookie, and it was delicious! Yes, it's overloaded with sweetness, but for a sweet tooth like me, this was definitely one of the best cookies I've had. It was huge, filled with lots of chocolate chips and walnuts, all for just $5! Slowly breaking the cookie in half is so satisfying as it reveals the abundance of chocolate chips and walnuts. So make sure to have that perfect video for your Instagram, lol. Other places specializing in cookies have a higher price point, so I was quite surprised here. Luckily, when I went, there was no line at all, but the store quickly became flooded with customers as soon as I left.
