This restaurant was one of our few go-to places for take out during the past year of the pandemic. Food was always pretty good to very good. We appreciated the care they were taking to try to implement all of the covid related precautions. That's why I was really surprised when after getting home and opening our order yesterday I found a really poor showing in terms of the quality of the food. Maybe this is a one-off, and I hope so, but it will make me think twice about going back. The results: grilled veggie quesadilla - very few grilled veggies. Kind of a greasy mess. Vegan chili: 1/2 full bowl of lukewarm broth and a few veggies at the bottom. Kale salad: large chunks of tough, almost inedible kale (I know....it's kale). We have been at the Laughing Planet location in Reno and fell upon this store when visiting family in Bend. It was nice to take my Bend family to their first vegan friendly eatery (yes they still have meat on the menu) and they were really impressed. I absolutely loved the Crunchero quesadilla!!!! Laughing Planet has healthy and filling fare, which is not always a combination that's easy to find. There are plenty of meat and dairy options too, but the menu has a good amount for vegans and vegetarians. It's appropriate for kids too, with a special menu section for them. read more

What a relief! These restaurants are expanding and have 17 locations which means places like this can now be popular. Better for the planet, better for us creatures of variety that require clean food and quality businesses. Great staff, ultra polite and helpful. This is a fun and healthy alternative on Third St, which does not generally suffer from an abundance of stylish restaurants. I met a friend for a dinner here and was not terribly disappointed. This is the kind of place where a health-conscious family might go without having to spend a fortune. In fact, that's what I saw around me on my first dining experience. Kids under ten will appreciate the abundance of toy dinosaurs on the tables. Adults seeking an elegant dining experience might have a different reaction. This isn't really a first-date restaurant if you're trying to impress someone with either your sophistication or taste in food. I had the Bollywood Bowl with chicken, broccoli, spinach and yams on jasmine rice. The chicken was, as is the case in places like this, breast meat and a bit dry and tasteless. The coconut sauce was a bit bland and not spicy as advertised. The food arrived luke-warm. My dining companion had a Thai Bowl with chicken, tofu, broccoli, and green beans. At least, that's what she ordered. What actually arrived -- everything but the chicken. She sent the bowl back and watched me eat for a while. She insisted, since my own bowl didn't arrive at a temperature that could afford to sit until her replacement arrived. When the right order appeared, the manager threw in a complimentary dessert cookie. That was a nice gesture, and the cookie, unlike the main course, was tasty. Rating this restaurant posed a bit of a moral dilemma for me. I like its goals of fusion-oriented, clean, locally-sourced organic dishes with vegan, paleo, and gluten-free offerings. I like that they're the only restaurant of its type on Third. I didn't love the atmosphere, which is all hard surfaces, bright lights, and family-oriented. The food, sadly, left me a bit underwhelmed. If you have a family and dietary restrictions this might be what you're looking for. So, I'd give it 3 stars for food, and 5 stars for its attempt to move the needle on Third St. Let's split the difference and give it 4 stars. Me? If I were dining out, I'd still go to Zydeco, Toomie's, Ariana's, or Spork for a great meal. read more

I had no idea that Laughing Planet was a chain, but when I walked in, it was very obvious. However, they had tons to offer. I was starving and chose a burrito. You can customize it as you like and they have so much to offer. I got the Cuban burrito, which strangely had BBQ sauce but it worked. Woo Hoo! It kind of feels like they heard me ;) While I have been gluten free for awhile, my son recently started a gluten- and dairy-free diet. As with most young guys, he likes a lot of food and reported back to me that portions are filling. I recently stopped by for lunch and am so happy I did! Laughing Plant has great food that is also good for you. Who knew that tofu could be so good - and I am not a vegan or vegetarian. You can get chicken other proteins with everything as well. I work just around the corner from their Bend location and have lunch there at least once a week. They also have a small selection of local micro beer on taps as well. The only draw back is that the seating area is open and very loud. I typically just get the food for take out vs eating there. read more

Eh,.... Was looking forward to Laughing Planet Cafe opening since watching all the remodel & construction. I visited their website to view the menu, because their name gives no clue to their cuisine. Saw allot of vegan, but was encouraged by other meat (or as they call it 'Omnivore') items available. Hint: they hail from Eugene. Our first visit and probably last,.... When walking in it is very loud with young peoples 'Millennial' music. Yes, we're in our fifties, traditional family. Couldn't really enjoy a sit down with the loud music. When you order, you get a number, you sit to eat, then bus your own table . Wife ordered safe from the Vegan menu. A bean & cheese burrito, but it lacked any of the advertised 'Tillamook' cheese??? Really? Came with 'Smart' beans?? I ordered the Korean BBQ Bowl thinking I would be getting traditional Korean BBQ slices of pork,...not! The meat was a spicy vinegar tasting pot roast & just a couple of tablespoons worth. The rest was a combo of brown rice, broccoli, slaw salad, with sliced cucumber??? Summary: We're very happy to have Laughing Planet in Bend. Blushing Bride and I were driving along 3rd yesterday about dinnertime, and noticed that Laughing Planet was now open, so we decided to give it a try. The menu looked fairly basic (burritos, bowls, salads, etc.) but appeared to be very healthy. I went with the chicken Paleo Bowl which was delicious, while BB ordered the chicken Burrito. Both were very good, but the chicken in my Paleo Bowl was grilled perfectly with a yummy chimichurri sauce over the top. The restaurant itself follows the theme of "order, pay, get a number, find a seat" - then they bring you your food. You also have to bus your own table. Since this was the first day they were open, everything (bathrooms, tables, floors, silverware station, etc.) was really clean. The only minor issue we experienced was that we initially sat in the northern (right as you enter) half of the seating area - the AC was blasting all the tables along the window and BB was showing goose bumps. We moved to the southern side of the restaurant (out of the AC blast), and enjoyed a more normal climate. The counter and serving people were very helpful and friendly, even showing us a binder of ingredients when I asked what was in the chimichurri sauce. All-in-all, our experience at Laughing Planet was good. We will be back. read more

After waiting for 30 minutes, the server admitted that they had forgotten our order, and it had been just sitting on the hot plate. Needless to say, our quesadilla was steamed to a soggy mess. Their mistake made us miss the movie we were on our way to see. They did the same thing to my friend the last time she went there. Decided to order laughing planet today for lunch. Over DoorDash of course. I ordered a cheese and pico quesadilla with no pico. On the box it said cheese quesadilla no pico however, it had chicken in it. I can't eat that. I called the store and told them what had happened and they told me that it was all DoorDashes fault. That is false. Also they have prepared it multiple times with pico in the middle when I ask for no pico. Needless to say I will never ever go back to them or recommend them to anyone. Trying to love it. The food is really good; tasty, fresh, all good stuff. The layout of the restaurant is confusing. When you arrive it is counter service, but the menus are tucked up front at the registers. So if there is a line, this is extremely awkward. In the few times I have been here I have seen no less than a half dozen people walk out. When you first enter, unless you know what is up, the daily special and juice board appear to be there only food options. Noise. I am not that old, really. But it is so LOUD in here, hard to even think let alone carry on a conversation. Quick fixes... I always feel healthy after eating here. The flavors are very complex in each dish. One of favorites on the menu time after time is the Bubba Burrito. The first time I was in I tried the Paleo bowl and wasn't happy with the amount of food on it so I probably wont get that again. I also tried a fresh juice and it was great. Service was what you expect from fast food. The atmosphere was what you expect from this type of place. Go here for the health food if that is what you desire. This place is so fresh and delicious. Some family in from out of town suggested this place to us(we're new to the area) they were totally right. There are so many options to accommodate all eating styles. I am gluten free and dairy free and my food was so enjoyable. I also loved the kids menu. My daughter who is 8 months had fresh cooked broccoli, sweet potato and beans and she loved it. Our family has already been to the new Laughing Planet (LP) in Bend a few times. The food is great and we plan on making LP part of our weekly routine. The staff is a little green but that is to be expected with a new location. I called in our last to-go order and was placed on-hold for 5 minutes before disconnecting. After placing a 2nd call, the order was taken and we arrived 20 minutes later only to realize our order was never started. The manager, Patterson, was very apologetic and expedited our order in 5 minutes free of charge...nice surprise for an awkward situation. I really hope they put a 2nd location on the west side. Great place and great ambience and a multitude of healthier and vegan options. This is a great place for lunch. I loved the little humorous touches like Dinos on every table and some kooky decor. The food was fresh and tasty, flavorful enough but in a fusion kind of way. The green juices were very well blended, some places give you something that tastes "too green" and yucky like they've just blended kale and celery. This stuff actually tastes amazing and I love the kick of ginger in many of their juices. There is a nice selection of beers too, and of course, kombucha. So the Vindaloo curry tasted nothing like the real thing from India but it was good. The bowls have an eclectic but interesting assembly of ingredients. I liked the Summer Bowl, which had some great fresh ingredients that blended well together. Some of the more fusion bowls don't work as well. They also have a loyalty program and the people are super friendly. It's a little on the expensive side, so maybe not great for every day option but wonderful for a weekend lunch or a meeting with a friend. read more
