I'm so excited to tell you about my all time favorite restaurant, The Brickhouse in Bend Oregon. This probably says it all...I was there for 6 days and had dinner at the Brickhouse for 3 of them. Outstanding, excellent, creative, exceptional are all descriptions of my meals. I love the ambience and service too!! Josh, Nathaniel, And Jason were all helpful for our menu selections, gave us taste of wine to select the best one, and were attentive to every aspect of our dining experience. I can't wait to go back. I'm already dreaming of the zucchini appetizer, the beet salad, the caesar, the filet and seafood platter(lobster too), the scampi and linguine and the best prepared steelhead with vegie ragu. Service was incredible, the waiter was extremely friendly and gave good suggestions, he was also as timely as he could be with how busy they were and was very transparent on hang ups which I appreciate and cannot fault anyone for. The food was decent but not as good as the price point reflects. I ordered the steak pasta which had good cuts of meat but was overall underwhelming. If you're going to spend $35 at a minimum, the food should blow you away. The ambiance is my main complaint and I honestly have no idea how to fix this but I could not hear my partner from across the table. The restaurant was so loud that we spent most of our meal either not talking, or asking what the other had said after trying to talk. Brickhouse I really want to like eating in your restaurant, but I just cannot see a reason to dine there when there are 5 other restaurants that have similar pricing for a significantly better overall experience. read more

I'm not a big steak person. In my years in Bend, I'd yet to go to any of the many steakhouses in town (except Blacksmith for burger and drinks at the bar), and there are quite a few. On a whim I decided I wanted a steak and Brickhouse was recommended by friends who do eat steak a lot. Good choice. I sat at the bar and ordered a 6oz filet mignon off the 4-5 PM menu. Absolutely no negatives. Everything was top tier including the service at the bar and cocktails. The space is quite comfortable and you're not subjected to loud music. My wife and I came here last September with her brother and had a great experience and meal, so we thought we would come here again this trip. We like the ambiance here at the Brickhouse a lot. A very warm and comfortable feeling. Our server Sally was absolutely we have ever had anywhere in the world. She listened to us when we ordered our food about how we would like it prepared and cooked and she conveyed that perfectly to the kitchen staff and chefs. Our food as a result of her sharing how we wanted things was a fantastic meal for all three of us. The halibut and steelhead trout were cooked to perfection. I ordered the 16 ounce ribeye, cooked to rare plus and it was exactly that. Overall the best dinning experience we have had in a long time. Needless to say come next September when my wife and I make our yearly pilgrimage to Bend, we will be eating here. Just awesome! read more

Our dinner was superb and Jonathan was an absolute star. My daughter ordered steak medium well and it came out well done. She didn't say anything but Jonathan saw - got the manager involved and he came to our table and ordered another one for her at no charge. I've always had good experiences here. The service is always great - very attentive and helpful, water glasses always topped. They have a huge menu with excellent steak and seafood options. Their blackened ribeye is always solid and a go to for me. I like the ambiance - modern, low light and classy. It can get loud and somewhat echo-y in there when it gets busy. I like the half oval booths near the bar though which makes it easier to hear. Their cocktails are fantastic and they have an excellent whiskey selection. read more

I entered the doors in a full sprint, escaping the laughably powerful gusting walls of sleet rolling down the street. I was glad to be greeted warmly before heading to the bar. I took a moment to study the vintage photo of the original firehouse that now serves as the brick bones of the restaurant. Awesome seeing the original garage doors and recognizing where the fire trucks would have sat in waiting. They even kept the fire pole above the bar. I found myself wishing other areas of the restaurant had been designed or decorated more intentionally to honor its soulful past. It wants to be a high class spot, but something about the interior design feels underwhelming. I enjoyed the drinks I tried although the menu seems a bit unimaginative. The energy was strange, maybe it was that night, but bar staff seemed to be a bit "altered" and on edge. One was wearing what may or may not have been an intentional cologne that smelled like the overpowering essence of hot rubber mixed with cigar smoke, and leather. I ended up ordering the fresh steelhead and it was amazing. Caesar salad was lovely. And the drink of the night was called something like a White Christmas but was sort of a wintery margarita. Awesome night in the end. But I prefer the Redmond location. read more

I did a very quick (stay wise) trip up to Spokane from California and was on my third day of driving when I reached Bend, so I decided to spoil myself and have a nice steak dinner. I found Brickhouse thanks to Yelp! and I was sold when I saw they had French Onion Soup and Blackened Ribeyes. The only problem was that it was a Sunday night and it would be 8 pm when I finally made my way there. They were open until 9 pm, but I know a lot of restaurants will close early if they don't have enough patrons. When I showed up at the restaurant I asked if they were still serving and the waitress that helped me went to check. The Manager came out and was very nice and said they were. I asked for the bar and he led me over to the bar with a menu. The bartender was incredibly nice from the get go. I should have written the review earlier, because then I would have remembered his name, but unfortunately it escapes me now. I already knew what I wanted but I didn't want to rush through it. I ordered a dirty martini and the French Onion Soup. Both were great. The soup was loaded with Gruyère, which I loved. It was rich and wasn't overwhelming with the onions. It hit the spot on this cold (to the Californian) night. The bartender recommended I try the Wagyu ribeye and I figured why not? So, I got the Blackened Wagyu Ribeye. It came with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies which were both really tasty. I like mashed potatoes, but I'm not crazy about them, but these were really good. The steak was huge and they cooked it perfectly. The blackening seasoning wasn't quite as flavorful as I am used to, but it was still good. I managed to get through the cap of the ribeye and that was delicious. I also had a glass of wine with my steak that the bartender helped me pick. Everything was really tasty, the restaurant was clean and upscale looking, and the people working there were very nice. It was the perfect way to spoil myself after transporting my foster kitten to Spokane and then driving back to California. I would definitely return if I make a trip through Bend again. read more

Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Brickhouse. The friendly, prompt service from Devon and delicious, well prepared food were certainly highlights. Some of the best French onion soup I've ever had, and I've tried many. The wedge salad was scrumptious if a bit overdressed. The cook on my petite filet was just perfect and the upgraded to fondant potatoes on request was very appreciated and they were quite well done. If I had to do it again, I'd skip the bread service, which was fairly meh. This restaurant is housed in an old firehouse that has been restored, which adds to its charm. What wasn't charming was the very strong fish smell upon entering the front door (so off-putting we considered making an immediate 180 and leaving upon our arrival). We grinned and beared it ~ but made sure to steer clear of any seafood options. Also subpar was the very sloppy appearance of the hostess. We laughed about "being old people now" but wearing a ragged shirt off the shoulder with her tacky bra strap showing with faded jeans and dirty tennis shoes just isn't congruent with the upscale steakhouse vibe it seems they're striving for here. Rounding up 3.5 stars to 4 because the food and service were very good. read more

Fish was tasteless couldn't even tell if they were fried or baked or what. Mediocre at best. I was someone's guest so really couldn't complain. I wouldn't choose to go there . This is our second time here and we can't ever get enough. Our server both times has been Glen and he is phenomenal, checks on you just enough, knows the ins and outs of the food and drinks. We adore him. The food is melt in your mouth perfection and cooked so well. We will keep coming back for the amazing service and food. I say 100% worth the prices. The food we got this time was 8oz bacon wrapped filet mignon with crab and lobster on top, so filling and cooked perfectly. The other dish is the bacon wrapped filet mignon with a HUGE lobster tail. We stayed at Seventh Mountain resort for our anniversary and there were so many choices around for food. This place had good reviews, so we were in. The wife had the halibut and I had the rack of lamb. It was cooked perfectly. Both meals were delicious. The service was also outstanding. Fantastic service at the early dinner hour. We were easily the youngest patrons at that time, but being on East Coast time it was perfect for us. They offer a three-course meal at a discounted rate before 5 p.m., which is a great deal. The food was very good -- the clam chowder, mashed potatoes, and steaks were definite highlights. Excellent dish, served with four big scallops seared perfectly with just enough sauce to add poppin' flavor. We split a Caesar Salad, which was portioned very well. For entrees, we paired the American Wagyu Steak with the Prawns Scampi. The scampi is a poor man's lobster tail and an excellent addition to go with the steak. Hadn't been here for several years, but wanted to get back here. Fabulous cocktails! Dinner was superb; wife had rack of lamb, I had an A5 Miyazaki Wagyu filet. Worth every penny. This is my favorite restaurant in Bend. We always take guests there. I'd like to sit at a table in the bar area. It's more personable. The decor is very nice. The servers are good. I'd heard such great things about Brickhouse in Bend, and while the food (and cocktails!) were genuinely delicious, the overall experience was a bit disappointing. We were told there'd be a 15-20 minute wait, but it stretched closer to 45-50 minutes. The hostess did apologize sincerely, which I appreciated. Once seated, our server seemed rushed and distracted--barely making eye contact and giving noticeably more attention to other tables. I'm someone who enjoys being guided on what's good, and while he did answer when asked, most interactions felt hurried. He was friendlier toward the end when dropping off the check, but overall it felt like we didn't receive the same level of care as others around us. The food and cocktails were excellent, though, and I can absolutely see why people love this place. I'd be open to coming back and giving it another try, just hoping for a more consistent service experience next time. read more

Excellent ambiance for a date night dinner. My wife and I came here our anniversary and had a fantastic time. The waitress gave us so many specials to choose from that it was almost overwhelming, and she was able to answer all our questions about the menu and drinks. She was even kind enough to cover our dessert since it was a special occasion! The food was beyond words. We ordered the meatball appetizer and my wife got the lobster tail. We went to Brickhouse for my father-in-laws birthday and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience! Our waiter was friendly, helpful with answering our questions and accommodating a kids meal for our younger nephew. Our table ordered a variety of items but my husband and I ordered the scallops and the blackened ribeye. Both of our dishes were cooked to perfection and so juicy and delicious! As a table, we ordered creme brulee and cheesecake for dessert, which everyone loved as well. I'm more of a creme brulee fan so I liked that one the best. The server also recommended a nice bottle of wine that we had for dinner and we capped it off at the end with espresso martini's. If you're looking for a nice dinner out to celebrate with family and friends then this is the place! I'd recommend checking it out. read more

This time our stay was for 4 days and we had dinner there twice....would have gone back a third time but had reservations elsewhere. Food is exceptional, friendly and welcoming staff. Husband loves their expansive bourbon list and they make a perfectly VERY chilled martini for me. Wish we had one in Camas...think we would be there at least a couple times a week.
