Ribeye with potatoes and Brussels sprouts
Cathi H.

5 -- WOW. Dinner at Zydeco Kitchen & Cocktails last night and it absolutely delivered! We started with a beautiful bottle of Domaine Serene 2021 Pinot Noir... smooth, elegant, and the perfect pairing for everything that followed. I started with mussels and clams (seafood will always be my first pick) and scallops for my husband--both were incredible. For the main event, I had the blackened redfish (SO good) which is the best I have had outside of New Orleans and the steak lover went all in on the ribeye... and let's just say there were zero leftovers! Every bite was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, and the best part? Our server Emily never missed a beat all night! If you're in Bend and looking for a fantastic night out--this is your spot. All the tables were full and it was a Monday night!

We had such a great experience at Zydeco. We're visiting from Seattle and were really impressed. Our server was so kind and took the time to explain the featured items and some customer favorites on the menu. Everything we ordered was delicious. The BBQ shrimp had so much flavor, the oysters from WA were fresh and amazing, and the blueberry lemon drop and passion fruit jalapeño margarita were both so good and really refreshing. And the carrot cake at the end was rich, moist, and the perfect way to finish the meal. I honestly wish I had taken more photos because everything looked as good as it tasted. We left very happy and will definitely come back next time we're in town.

Over the moon about this Southern-inspired restaurant! It's a cozy spot located in downtown Bend with a great atmosphere. Even without a reservation, they were able to accommodate us at their communal table in the bar area, which ended up being a great experience. The service was outstanding--our server was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to walk us through the menu, thoughtfully describing each specialty dish. Every item we ordered exceeded our expectations. The BBQ shrimp, roasted marrow bone, shrimp & crawfish jambalaya, and key lime pie were all exceptional. I would highly recommend any of them and can't wait to come back.

Came here for a bachelorette party dinner. Our waiter was great. Handled our party of 8 smoothly. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had a steak with carrots and scalloped potato side and it was cooked perfectly. Also enjoyed a classic lemon drop martini with Tito's.

Food was delicious. I ordered the Cavatappi pasta. There was a lot of good flavor in it and the pasta was cooked al dente. Shrimp tasted fresh and the sausage wasn't too salty. Everything complimented each other. Service from Ana was great! We had a large party and she did a great job. Drinks and dessert were very meh in my snobbish opinion. They were ok. We drank and ate it but nothing stood out. All the drinks tasted overly sweet. We ordered chocolate cake and carrot cake and they were all mediocre at best. Atmosphere was ok. Sometimes I feel you can't win it all. It's definitely an upscale type of spot. But it was sooooo loud. It was difficult speaking with anyone who didn't sit directly next to or in front of you. All in all, food was great. Good experience.

This is a MUST if you are in Bend Oregon Ambiance is upscale, the menu is absolutely amazing, value for quality and portions is aligned and the service is top notch. This combination is extremely hard to find. If there were more than 5 stars I'd give more! First of all - shout out to Dustin who was the BEST server we've ever experienced. It was our 1st time here (visiting from out of state) and he was extremely knowledgeable with the menu - explained the dishes and provided some highlights. He gave us recommendations (even to the tune of "which of these 2 whites would pair better with my entree") which were always spot on. We ordered cocktails needed a little more time with the menu and I loved his style of asking us to turn our menus upside down which would alert him to come back instead of coming back to check if we were ready (with such an amazing menu it was hard to decide) Cocktails: Bramble Down Bourbon Street - delicious and delicately prepared Starters 1) Smoked Trout Dip - if you like fish this was creamy, smoky and the pickled onions added that extra touch. Flavor explosion! 2) Village Baker Striata Bread & Olive Oil - freshly baked, hard to resist fresh bread and olive oil Entrees: All of these were absolutely delectable! 1) Short rib (on the special menu) was melt in your mouth 2) Blackened redfish - cooked to perfection, perfectly seasoned 3) Caroline Gold Middlins "Risotto" - this is not your traditional risotto, made from mushrooms and not arborio rice. I love mushrooms and would recommend this to anyone who enjoys mushrooms. The texture was like risotto but with such a lovely earthy flavor Dessert: 1) Zydeco Carrot Cake - this is a house favorite and didn't disappoint! Carrott cake is one of my favorite cakes and this was one of the best ever! Highly recommend 2) Cheesecake - also amazing. This review is actually from a visit in May that I'm getting to writing but we are visiting again and am eagerly awaiting my experience to try more things on the menu. Visit if you can :)

This restaurant is truly an amazing find--great food, incredible cocktails, and top-notch service every time. We've visited twice now, and it's officially become our go-to spot whenever we're in Bend. Can't wait to come back again!

Have always loved this spot. The food is delicious and I love everything I've had here over the last 15 years.

Fried Frog Legs

Not bad but I I felt a bit underwhelmed and felt the dishes were a tad bland. - BBQ Shrimp: pretty good, served in a sweet bbq sauce not much else to say. - Fried frog legs: this was on the specials menu, I mostly ordered out of curiosity since I hadn't tried frog before. It was interesting I'd say but don't think I need any more frog lol. The breading was nice thin but crispy with a light sauce coating. It was cooked well and on 1st bite honestly tastes like chicken. But the aftertaste was unpleasant to me- I can only describe as science class dissection/formaldehyde type flavor. - Jambalaya: just ok, mostly tomato flavor, lacking in spice and flavor. Cornbread it came with was pretty good tho. Ambience is classy/upscale and prices are on the higher side but still reasonable.

This place is a gem! The food here is top notch and delicious. Flavors are on point. The drinks and cocktails here are delicious too. It's perfect for a date night.

Everything was so delicious, I wish I took a picture of the menu.

This is a long overdue review. They change up their menu items weekly? My friends and I did family style and the waitress knew right away. I really enjoyed all the food we ordered. My friends said the pasta was a little under cooked but I thought it was a perfect al dente but to each their own. Our waitress was very nice sweet and personable. I would definitely come back when I visit Oregon again!

My wife and I were in Bend to Jerry Seinfeld and were looking for a new place to eat. While searching Yelp, Zydeco Kitchen came up. I will just start this review by saying if you haven't been here before, this is a must try. First, the atmosphere felt very comfortable, you could easily come here dressed up or dressed more casually. The service was great from start to finish. But the food was the star of the show. My wife and I each had a couple of Old Fashioned's to drink. We started off with the BBQ Shrimp with a Southern Grit Cake. We paired this with the Village Baker Straita Bread and Oilive Oil. This is served with a Cane Syrup Butter. All the reviews said to get the bread, well make sure and get the bread! In fact, we were asked if we wanted the bread. This is a must to soak of some of the sauce from the BBQ Shrimp dish. The BBQ Shrimp were cooked perfectly and plated on top of a Grit Cake that was served with an extremely flavorful sauce with just a little bite that complimented the shrimp perfectly. Again, make sure to soak some of the bread in the sauce. We also went with the Fried Green Tomatoes, which were fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. It was the right time of the year for Fried Green Tomatoes. For an entrée we went with the Blackened Redfish which was served with mashed potatoes, spinach, Dungeness Crab, and Zydeco Sauce. Being a fan of the south, I immediately knew we had to try the Redfish. This fish was cooked perfectly. The blackening and Zydeco sauce complemented the fish without taking anything away from the flavor of the fish. Plus, you can make any dish better when you add Dungeness Crab. We finished up our meal with a slice of their Chocolate Cake. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience at Zydeco Kitchen. We'll certaily be back here again. If you live in Bend or you happening to be traveling to Bend, Zydeco Kitchen is a must try. You will not be disappointed.

Is the outdoor seating open year round (as long as it's not raining)? We are travelling with our dog for the first time coming up and don't want to miss out on eating at our favorite place!

For sure outdoor seating is great here, not a lot of tables, 7 or 8 with lots of room for pets but it is seasonal. Always check in first, doors open at 5pm sharp and usually at that time you can snag an outdoor table but you have to check inside… Read more

I got the funky cold Modena which was tart and tasty. And we got to see Miz Cracker from RuPaul's Drag Race!! So fun! The drag show was high energy and a great time.

The owners closed up shop downtown and created this new place on 2nd Street in Bend's Central District. It's now called Dogwood at the Pine Shed. Why Yelp won't create a new, distinct page for the Pine Shed is beyond me. That said, the Pine Shed is a fine place for drinks and food truck fare. The open, spacious 'shed' has plenty of varied seating surrounding a nice bar with quite a few tables outside on the patio. Mobility-challenged folks have choices too. For those worried about 2nd Street's reputation for sketchiness, don't be. Revitalization efforts by the city have transformed the area. At times of good weather, with the big doors open, the Pine Shed is quite a nice spot to relax. Cocktails were the raison d'etre for the former incarnation of Dogwood and that emphasis transfers here to the Pine Shed. I particularly like their versions of a margarita but the other cocktails are uniformly good too. The beer tap offerings are not so spectacular, however, with only four (and a cider). On one visit shortly after they opened for business, two beer taps were tapped out, which can be chalked up to growing pains. In any case, the Pine Shed can't be seriously regarded as a tap house in the style of the many others in Bend (On Tap, River's Place, Crosscut, The Lot, The Podski, Midtown Yacht Club, etc.). Come for the cocktails. They do offer low ABV and zero ABV drinks. At present, the food truck choices are abundant and pretty decent. Being trucks/carts, and thus mobile and prone to relocating themselves, I'll not list them here. Best to check the Pine Shed's webpage for current offerings and then go to the relevant Yelp page for reviews. Parking is street only, no parking lot. The city has completed construction on 2nd Street so there are more spots available than before.

Follow the alley. Trust me…read more You know those places you stumble into and immediately think, "Yep...this is my kind of spot"? That was San Simón for me. At first, walking down the alley in downtown Bend, I honestly was not sure what we were about to find. Then we started seeing little fire pit pods, heated huts, glowing candles, and people tucked away having cocktails. It instantly felt cool without trying too hard. Walking into San Simón felt like stepping into some funky speakeasy hidden in plain sight. Dark lighting, moody atmosphere, David Bowie playing in the background, wild artwork on the walls that makes you stop and stare for a second. Just a great vibe all around. The kind of place where you sit down and immediately relax into the evening. The cocktails were excellent. Not overdone, not syrupy, just really balanced and well made. One of our favorites was the "Some Positive Feedback," which came with this sugar rim that looked awesome and added just enough sweetness without overpowering the drink. Bright citrus flavor, refreshing, smooth, and dangerously easy to drink. Then we asked the bartender if they could just make us something off the cuff. We said vodka, lemon and lime forward, not too sweet, maybe a little spice. They absolutely nailed it. Crisp, refreshing, layered citrus flavor with just enough heat on the back end to keep it interesting. Honestly one of those cocktails where everybody at the table takes a sip and immediately goes, "Oh wow." As a bourbon guy, I was also pleasantly surprised with the whiskey selection. The bartender recommended Stafford's Reserve, an Oregon bourbon, and I am glad I listened. Smooth, approachable, a little sweet up front with some spice on the finish. Easy sipping bourbon that fit the whole vibe of the place perfectly. What really made the night though was the staff. Everybody was friendly in that genuine way where you feel welcomed instead of "served." By the end of the night it honestly felt like we had been there before, even though it was our first visit. The outdoor setup deserves some love too. Bend cooled down at night, but the fire pits and heaters kept everything comfortable. We could have easily stayed another couple hours just hanging out. Pricing felt fair for the quality of drinks and atmosphere. This is not a dive bar pretending to be fancy. It is a genuinely cool cocktail spot that knows exactly what it is. If you are in Bend and enjoy craft cocktails, bourbon, cool music, quirky atmosphere, and places with personality, go find San Simón. Half the fun is finding it tucked down the alley in the first place.

There were no check-ins at the table, a hostess walked around once filling everyone's water but that was it (so we had empty water for about half the time we were there), I had to flag down the bartender by staring at him from across the bar to get his attention for a check, once I got the check he again tried to immediately walk off even though I had the card & wallet on the table and nearly immediately put it in the book, and in general he was not amiable. I actually asked my friend after the first interaction of 'do you think he's having a bad day or hates it here?'. Let's just start out with the atmosphere.... This place is just covered in craft store plants and Amazon decorations. No character nothing special. Now I could've gotten past that if the drinks were OK. I didn't have super high hopes, but I was very excited to find a Tiki Bar in Bend while I was traveling for work. So I started out with just a classic Mai Tai after looking over the menu and being pretty disappointed that it's just the most basic "tiki" drinks in existence. The Mai Tai was flat out awful, and I mean AWFUL. It tasted like water mixed with lime juice. No alcohol taste in anyway, and not even a drip of Orgeat taste. It is so bad that it upset me, and it's completely clear like water. I did decide to stay cause I needed a break from the long week of work, but I just went straight to rum straight. I could've overlooked this, if there was even any slight conversation at the bar with the bartenders, but they had no interest in talking to the people that were there, three of the people at the bar were employees, and the entire time was just them talking together about how much they don't like rum or even the drinks on the menu. Wild. Past that they were talking about how they store their juices, and that they don't date label them in any way or throw them out after a certain amount of days, they just come in and taste them to see if they've gone bad. Get the f*** out of here.... A quick Google search will show you that most citrus juices start to oxidize within the hour, and orange and pineapple are not far behind... Don't even come here and give it a try, just go somewhere else.... This place should not be in business.
