We had a great time going to happy hour at Hawkeye and Huck. We had Cesar salad, smash burger and fries. Everything was fantastic! We sat outside in the shade which was lovely and there's a kids play area outside with some toys, bean bags and a private space for kids. The service was sooo fast - we could believe how fast the food came out. We'll be back!

Hawk & Huck hosted a group of 75 people for my corporate event and everything was fabulous. Top notch hospitality! Entrees for 75 people were executed perfectly, which is not always the case with large groups!

Fries - great texture, crispy exterior, pillow-y interior

A little torn here - the food was really tasty, the happy hour a great deal, but service left a little to be desired. We arrived a little after 4 to find a lively, festive environment and an almost full restaurant already! No room at the bar, but we were seated immediately. Our table ordered drinks and, shortly afterward, entrees and some sides. Everyone agreed the Hawkeye Burger was really tasty. I've been eating so many smashburgers over the last year, it was nice to have a higher quality burger. I thought it was a little odd at first - there were two patties, each about 1/2 - 2/3 the width of the bun and stacked in an offset pattern. After I got used to the unique stack, I enjoyed the variation in bites and loved the flavor of the beef. The burger sauce was tasty and seemed to have a hint of horseradish in it. The pickle on top was really nice also. The fries were also a hit with table. They had a nice crispy texture on the outside with a pillow-y interior. I'm not usually a fan of bigger, steak fries, but these were good, and I found my go-to's in the smaller fries with a greater exterior-to-interior ratio. My only complaint is the service was a little lackluster - we didn't receive one of our cocktails (had to flag down our server), didn't receive one of the entrees (had to flag down our server), and were charged for a burger we never received (had to flag down our server). This might have been a fluke and won't stop us from returning. My last note is that this is a large, open space with a lively atmosphere. Having a conversation with your table without speaking at an elevated volume is a near impossibility.

We stopped in to Hawkeye and Huckleberry in a visit to Bend. Made our reservation for the bar top tables. Nice view of the patio and away from the crowded main dining. This space is so eclectic and quickly! Definitely a vibe! The service was amazing and the food even better! We started with meatballs and a beer/burrata salad. The salad was so good! Meatballs a tad salty Moved into the chuck roast over potatoes. Melt in your mouth goodness! The pappardelle bolognese was delish! So flavorful We opted for a unique take on banana cream pie for dessert. Again a great choice. This Malarkey restaurant is worth the effort to get a seat and hang out!

This is a must do when in Bend! Hawkeye's decor is so fun and interesting. The afternoon that we went was on a Friday at 4:30 and we could not even get a table so I highly recommend making a reservation. We stayed for a delicious drink and left but I will definitely be back!

This place has some great decorations inside. Everything is clean, and the staff is very friendly. My favorite part are the yurts or tents that they have for larger parties. Very fun. So I went here with a group of friends and we immediately greeted, and promptly seated. We ended up having an appetizer of the cornbread. The cornbread was yummy. I think it was a skillet cornbread, because it had this wonderful almost pancake style consistency, with a yummy soft interior. The herb butter that they served it with was not needed. In fact I wish they would've just given me honey butter. I ordered the short ribs and also the grilled seasonal veggies. The grilled seasonal veggies were perfectly cooked, a pretty good portion, and very fresh. They had cheese on them, and who doesn't like veggies with cheese? The short ribs were wonderful. It was a tender and juicy pork rib served in a flavorful stewed sauce on top of some mashed potatoes. For me the portion size was just right especially after eating the cornbread. They mashed potatoes were creamy and delightful and just wonderfully prepared. Then the not so good part. We had the banana cream "pie". We were all pretty full, but decided to split this one dessert. Between the four of us none of us wanted to eat it. It was basically an overly sweet banana pudding with chunks of banana, cinnamon, and a torched meringue on top. The dessert was literally sugar for no reason. I hate wasting food, but this was so bad that nobody in my party would eat it. Trust me, just skip this one. The second thing to be aware of is that this place is loud and dimly lit, so just beware. The people I was with had to pass around glasses to see the menu. This place does have live music, but the night that I went did not have loud music and I could barely hear the people I was with. Again, not something that would stop me from going, just something to be aware of if you don't like loud places. All in all this is a good place. Just avoid the banana pudding "pie".

Unless you're looking to spend $$$ on a dinner and gamble if the food is good, I recommend other restaurants. This was our third time at Hawkeye & Huckleberry, and most likely our last. I believe in giving a place a few tries before forming my opinion. Drinks are good; but will run you $16-20 for a cocktail. prices are available on their website, so no surprises there. Where the disappointment lies is in the value of the food. I planned to order the 12oz NY strip ($65, no sides) the server recommended the 14oz NY strip straight from their local ranch, one of their specials. She insisted it was well worth the upgrade ($80, no sides). Grass fed and finished on hemp. I was very disappointed in what I ended up with. The steak was served pre-sliced, lacked any depth of flavor, and was overcooked (medium rare is what I ordered). It's not just being disappointed in the food. It's ordering a steak from a place that boasts about their meat and charges $80 only to serve something that wouldn't pass the bar at your local diner. My wife chose the hot honey fried chicken, which was good. My son had a kids pizza, which was good, although very big for a kid size. No complaints there, everyone loves leftover pizza. Our appetizers, beef carpaccio and pork belly, were also good. My suggestion would be to go during happy hour, or maybe just go somewhere else entirely. Bend has no shortage of great restaurants. Our bill was $247 for food and drinks, and I can think of many places I could spend that money and walk away very happy. Hawkeye and Huckleberry is not one of them, unfortunately.

5 stars across the board for creative setting, stellar service, and creative cuisine. Enjoyed our visit from start to finish, from an ice cold local hazy, to appetizers, and dinner, and shared sides.

The vibe in this place is outstanding. Love the Movie tributes especially to tombstone! We ordered the meat bonanza plate (see video). Food was delicious . The staff was also super nice. We'll be back!

Everything was great! It's a cool vibe with lighting, the bar, a stage, and some camp tent style tables. The outdoor patio is awesome -we started out there but then got caught in some random rain and they were quick to move us inside. The drinks were beautiful, unique and tasty with names to fit the atmosphere. The cornbread.... My favorite! The side were pretty tasty too. My husband loved the crispy loaded potatoes, so delicious-but be warned it's large! I got the salmon and the crispy skin and flavoring was scrumptious. The deep center was a tiny rare for my taste. My husband's steak was a little more rare than he anticipated, as most steakhouses tend to overcook steak. The prior reviews we read were spot on with steaks being a little under what you ask for. But tasty nonetheless! Might be slightly overpriced for the cook, but I think anytime a new place opens, they have kinks to work out and they have to build consistency over time. No doubt they will. definitely recommend! We'll be back to try some more steaks and sides (wish I had tried the crispy pork belly!)

The owners closed up shop downtown and created this new place on 2nd Street in Bend's Central District. It's now called Dogwood at the Pine Shed. Why Yelp won't create a new, distinct page for the Pine Shed is beyond me. That said, the Pine Shed is a fine place for drinks and food truck fare. The open, spacious 'shed' has plenty of varied seating surrounding a nice bar with quite a few tables outside on the patio. Mobility-challenged folks have choices too. For those worried about 2nd Street's reputation for sketchiness, don't be. Revitalization efforts by the city have transformed the area. At times of good weather, with the big doors open, the Pine Shed is quite a nice spot to relax. Cocktails were the raison d'etre for the former incarnation of Dogwood and that emphasis transfers here to the Pine Shed. I particularly like their versions of a margarita but the other cocktails are uniformly good too. The beer tap offerings are not so spectacular, however, with only four (and a cider). On one visit shortly after they opened for business, two beer taps were tapped out, which can be chalked up to growing pains. In any case, the Pine Shed can't be seriously regarded as a tap house in the style of the many others in Bend (On Tap, River's Place, Crosscut, The Lot, The Podski, Midtown Yacht Club, etc.). Come for the cocktails. They do offer low ABV and zero ABV drinks. At present, the food truck choices are abundant and pretty decent. Being trucks/carts, and thus mobile and prone to relocating themselves, I'll not list them here. Best to check the Pine Shed's webpage for current offerings and then go to the relevant Yelp page for reviews. Parking is street only, no parking lot. The city has completed construction on 2nd Street so there are more spots available than before.

At first, walking down the alley in downtown Bend, I honestly was not sure what we were about to find. Then we started seeing little fire pit pods, heated huts, glowing candles, and people tucked away having cocktails. It instantly felt cool without trying too hard. Walking into San Simón felt like stepping into some funky speakeasy hidden in plain sight. Dark lighting, moody atmosphere, David Bowie playing in the background, wild artwork on the walls that makes you stop and stare for a second. Just a great vibe all around. The kind of place where you sit down and immediately relax into the evening. The cocktails were excellent. Not overdone, not syrupy, just really balanced and well made. One of our favorites was the "Some Positive Feedback," which came with this sugar rim that looked awesome and added just enough sweetness without overpowering the drink. Bright citrus flavor, refreshing, smooth, and dangerously easy to drink. Then we asked the bartender if they could just make us something off the cuff. We said vodka, lemon and lime forward, not too sweet, maybe a little spice. They absolutely nailed it. Crisp, refreshing, layered citrus flavor with just enough heat on the back end to keep it interesting. Honestly one of those cocktails where everybody at the table takes a sip and immediately goes, "Oh wow." As a bourbon guy, I was also pleasantly surprised with the whiskey selection. The bartender recommended Stafford's Reserve, an Oregon bourbon, and I am glad I listened. Smooth, approachable, a little sweet up front with some spice on the finish. Easy sipping bourbon that fit the whole vibe of the place perfectly. What really made the night though was the staff. Everybody was friendly in that genuine way where you feel welcomed instead of "served." By the end of the night it honestly felt like we had been there before, even though it was our first visit. The outdoor setup deserves some love too. Bend cooled down at night, but the fire pits and heaters kept everything comfortable. We could have easily stayed another couple hours just hanging out. Pricing felt fair for the quality of drinks and atmosphere. This is not a dive bar pretending to be fancy. It is a genuinely cool cocktail spot that knows exactly what it is. If you are in Bend and enjoy craft cocktails, bourbon, cool music, quirky atmosphere, and places with personality, go find San Simón. Half the fun is finding it tucked down the alley in the first place.
