We've celebrated three birthday dinners at Bar RBC over the last six months. I want to preface this by saying that the staff is always great. They're absolutely professional, kind and very good at their jobs. My challenge with Bar RBC is the menu. I am a near pescatarian and I have struggled to find the right things to be able to order here. I don't like their steaks or other meat items, they are of medium quality (my husbands steaks feel like they should be $20 from WF) and don't have the same high quality as their sister location up the hill. It doesn't feel right to me to pay so much for a simple shrimp skewer. I've ordered that before, but it's just not worth the cost. I just feel like the menu needs a little more depth. More veggies and more exciting things for those of us who don't love meat. read more

Bar RBC was an absolute win in our book, this place held elegance within their service that I haven't had in a very long time. When we sat we were greeted with salty, crunchy corn nuts that complemented our cocktails amazingly. We ordered promptly, with food coming out one by one, honorable mentions of the tapas was a miniature jamón baguette, that has so much fresh meat. The dates were sweet and juicy. But the main stars of the event was the flank steak, which was cooked so perfectly med rare, topped with the chimichurri. This made my jaw drop, I typically never order steak out since it tastes to much better at home. But I would pay this price time and time again. Crispy, salty and juicy with a bit of burnt ends. The bravas were also a great addition next to the steak. We ended with a sweet treat, the churros were flaming hot, so soft and plush. They tasted like lemon which was such a great surprise. Inside the space is a little dark, and it had a nice ambiance. The noise level is a medium. You need to speak up a little but you don't need to shout to be heard. We came without reservations, luckily for us two seats at the bar opened up so we were seated right away. Since it was our first time here we asked Corrine out for some recommendations. She talked through some of the popular dishes and also some of her personal favorites. We ordered... Food - El Bulli Olive: Fun bite if you're an olive fan. Creative gastronomy creation. - Toro Radicchio: Really tasty salad, with great flavors. - Fried Anchovies and Artichoke: Delicious! If you're an anchovies fan, get this dish. Absolutely the best restaurant we went to while we were in Bend for a long weekend. The service was amazing, recommendations were on par with expectations and food is second to none (at least compared to other restaurants we tried). Highly recommend any of the potato dishes and the pork. Place is sharable plates and made it great to have a family style with the group. got to try everything we ordered. Wow wow wow! 5-stars across the board. What an unexpected surprise - delicious global flavors from the Iberian peninsula, tasty craft cocktails and mocktails, sexy vibe and great service. We tried a smattering of plates and two desserts that I'd also recommend. Literally everything is good, and the highlights for me were the strawberry tarragon burrata salad, Ibérico Secretto (Spanish pork version of Wagyu and tasted more like steak than pork), and the Moroccan Spinach. Both desserts were very unique and memorable: Tarta de Santiago and Panna Cotta. And of course the restaurant and the staff had a very Spanish vibe, from the art to their sense of humor. Bar RBC is a Spanish Tapas spot that is the sister establishment to the steakhouse Rancher Butcher Chef. Upon entering, we were greeted by the host. It is dim inside with lots of wood accents, giving it a cozy vibe. There is patio seating as well as a second floor with more tables. Came here on a Saturday evening with no reservation and was told it would be a 1 hour and 20 minutes wait. We were not in a hurry, so we agreed and were added to the waitlist. While we were looking at the menu, the host mentioned that some bar seating opened up and offered us those. We appreciated that he updated us so quickly and we ended up getting seated without having to wait. Corinne and Kim greeted us when we took our seats at the bar. Corinne was kind enough to walk us through the menu and provide us with recommendations. We ended up ordering a lot of her recommendations and they did not disappoint. We ordered two El Bulli Olives, the Toro Radicchio, Fried Anchovies and Artichokes, Iberico Secretto, and Tarta de Santiago. We also ordered the Pamplemousse Spritz and Strawberry-White Peppercorn Shrub. The drinks were both refreshing. The Pamplemousse Spritz had a good grapefruit flavor that was tart, light, and slightly sweet. The N/A rose added depth to the drink. The Strawberry-White Peppercorn Shrub had a unique flavor profile with the white peppercorn. It was slightly sweet, tart, and some acid, making it well-balanced. All of the food were hits. The El Bulli Olives are a fun play on a dirty martini using spherification. They are flavor bombs that burst in your mouth and were not as bitter as I expected. The Toro Radicchio was flavorful and we enjoyed how the "croutons" were presented as larger pieces of toast with the olive tapenade spread on top versus cubes. The radicchio was blanched first which gave them a nice texture. The Fried Anchovies and Artichokes were amazing. Great fry on both the anchovies and artichokes. They were crispy and not oily. The romesco sauce underneath them was flavorful and there was enough to dip each piece into. The Iberico Secretto tasted better than it looked. The iberico was tender and the chimichurri it came with was herb-forward, but very good. It was more of a paste than a sauce, but the flavor was there. To be honest, I probably would not be able to tell that the meat is Iberico, but we enjoyed it. The Tarta de Santiago is a gluten-free almond and orange cake with whipped cream on top. I was skeptical about it as I have not had the best experiences with gluten-free desserts, but this one so good. The cake was moist and spongy, and we could taste the almond and orange. The whipped cream tasted like homemade whipped cream and it was the perfect sweetness and texture. Overall, giving Bar RBC a 5/5. Service, ambiance, food, and drinks were all great. Value is good too. It is nice that bar seating is full service. Thank you again to Corinne and Kim for their hospitality, and for the host for offering us the bar seats so quickly. Would highly recommend to others looking for a solid spot for food or drinks, and would love to visit again when we are in the area. read more

This place has it going on. We were sat at a killer corner table on a busy night and indulged. It's lit to perfection and the playlist is on point. Staff is crazy friendly and sophisticated. Knowledgeable about their menu, which changes seasonally. This place is fantastic. We tried everything we possibly could and got no pics of a pile of dishes, including the pork chop, potato's bravas and corn - all off the hook amazing. Didn't get a photo of my A5 waygu steak after cook either. Too busy eating it. My only advice would be to come hungrier. This place is great and we had an incredible dinner for what was an amazing experience, with the warmest and most welcoming of staff. Don't miss this spot. It's a hidden gem. read more

One of the best steaks I've had. Perfectly salted and melt in your mouth. We had the non-aged rib eye(s) both Snake River and I forget the other one. Everything on the menu sounded so good but when you finally tasted it, it was just ok. Got the tuna tartar with potato chips, it was hard to taste anything but the chips. The tartar itself was kinda bland and flavorless. Jamon iberico was tasty hard to mess up delightful sliced ham. Tomato rubbed bread was disappointing, bland tomato paste on wheat bread. Cocktails were lovely though. Was still hungry upon leaving, didn't want to be disappointed by another high ticket. Randomly found this new place on a visit to Bend during the summer. Sat outside, which was more of a lounge seating, so not the most conducive to eating but fine for drinking. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and the way the kitchen prepared what we ordered, things were done well. But be prepared that it's very very expensive. We ordered the octopus that was $27 and it was one tentacle, and the tuna tartare was $24 for what really is a snack. I really enjoyed my meal here Sat at the bar and enjoyed the friendly and helpful service from the staff. The Lucky Rabbit cocktail was perfectly crafted and set the tone for everything to come. Started with the French Kiss and Bacon Wrapped Date which are always fantastic and would also be great as a finale in place of dessert. The Imberico Secretto was flavorful and satisfying and the Sautéed Mushrooms were the perfect accompaniment. The shrooms are REALLY good! Finished off with the Panna Cotta. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. A few side notes - I saw someone next to me get the scallops... they are TINY. May be disappointed if you get those. Also, I wish the price point was a little lower so more people could enjoy this amazing food. Cost before tip for that meal was $100. Walked into the beautifully designed and well thought out Bar RBC and had a stellar experience the entire time! We were seated at the bar, and ordered two great drinks off the cocktail menu. The Quixote was the standout but both were great. The bartenders were so friendly and helpful--probably our favorite part of the experience! Also need to throw in that every glass was sparkling, every bottle of liquor and wine was clean and behind the bar was impeccably arranged. We ordered the charcuterie board which was generous for the price and loved everything on it. The other standout were the salted cod fritters, which were little cod nuggets on a complementary sauce. Not sure what it was but it worked! We went home happy and talked about it in the morning. We WILL be back and are so thrilled this is an option in downtown Bend. read more

New place but ridiculously overpriced. Ordered two apps (one piece each which was not shown on our menu but the server told us), then 1 tapas and the scallop main to split. The scallop main was $38, so we assumed we'd each get a few scallops. There were TWO of the smallest scallops I have ever seen. We asked the server about the portion size and she replied that they were fresh scallops from Monday. It was Saturday, so not fresh. We were laughing so hard we ate our "main", got the check, and had dessert and drinks at another place. The food was delicious, but for 90$ we got 2 cocktails, 1 bacon wrapped date, one tiny skewer that was 3" long maybe with two tiny peppers, two olives, and two tiny anchoviy-type fish (cannot remember the name), maybe 1 cup of bravas, and two tiny scallops. The restaurant itself has a fun lively feel - it sort of has the vibe of a NYC restaurant. Our server was so friendly and accommodating. He made great recommendations - we wound up going with the bacon wrapped dates, the torchon, the tuna tartare, the basque talo, and the skirt steak. For our drink we went classic and split a pitcher of the sangria. Everything was unique and delicious. Our two favorite food dishes were probably the skirt steak (some of the best skirt steak I've had in a long time-- super savory with a garlicky chimichurri) and the tuna tartare (the avocado escuma was a great addition to the dish).
