Only a quick stop in this place for a round of drinks. Service was good and the cocktails were excellent. A great bar with lots of options for everyone.

Leaving a nice yelpy here so I remember where to eat next time I'm in Bend. I thought this place was low key awesome with a great vibe- even the music was perfect. Now the important stuff: my burger and sweet potato fries were EXCELLENT. if you're a burger person, you're in great hands here. They focus on craft cocktails, but the beer taps were also well chosen. Bonus the kitchen is open late.

Need a drink but not in the mood for one of Bend's excellent brewpubs? Stihl is here to help. With an enormous selection of whiskey/whisky and other spirits, they'll have what you want. - It's a tight, intimate space. Smallish bar; close table seating. The covid pandemic kept me out of Stihl for literally years for that reason. Before last night, I believe the last time I dropped in was for the Yelp Elite event a hundred years ago (I lament the fact that Yelp dropped Bend from its cities with a CM). That said, if you're looking for an intimate setting, here it is. Just arrive early to get a good seat. - Not noisy, at least not from the too-loud music which seems to plague many establishments. - The have a small menu that includes appetizers and entrees. I've had a couple of the apps and the roasted beet salad. - Do note the opening time of 5PM. That's not the norm in Bend and I bet lots of folks stop by in the early afternoon to find it closed. - Service in the few times I've been has been friendly and professional. Last night's server duo was top tier. Not gonna lie - I'm disturbed by what I read in some of the recent reviews such as from Sharon R. I really hope Stihl addresses that situation. - The tight quarters also restrict accessibility for our mobility-impaired friends. I imagine it's ADA compliant but if so, just barely. Recommended.

This was a nice find during walkabout in downtown Bend. A nice modern style bar, it had an amazing selection of whiskey, bourbon, scotch. They also had some amazing craft cocktails to offer along with food items. The bartenders/servers were very friendly and knowledgeable about what they had on their menus and offered great advice if looking to try something new. They also offered a daily special, Red Snapper, which we tried and absolutely loved. This is a nice place to stop in for a cocktail and socializing.

Ahh whiskey, the water of life. Did you know that distillation has been around for centuries? It has. Did you know there are over 2,200 distilleries in the USA according to the all-knowing World Wide Web? Pretty cool, huh. We strolled into the bar, there are 5 of us (ohhh what pretty heaters outside!). Seating is limited but, lucky us, a bigger table opens up right as we arrive. I think they call a space this size "intimate" which is a nice way of saying it's, errr, not large at all. The menus are pretty sweet & actually lists the prices of the whiskies which most places do not do because whiskey can be stupid expensive. Peep the menu here (sorry, forgot to take pics) and check out the $300+ pours. Now, don't get me wrong, this place isn't all insanely priced things, I mean we found a whole section of the menu in our poor people budget. I just appreciated the honesty for once. I hate going to a place and seeing "ask bartender for pricing" on a spirit. Why. Why do I have to ask. I'm the customer here. You are supposed to do things to sway me to spend more of the money that I don't have, not turn me off instantly with a command to seek out prices. Anyway, the whiskey is delicious. We laugh and chat and enjoy the large table we managed to grab before the place fills entirely. Now, the waiter, he could definitely use some brushing up on people skills. Idk his name, I didn't bother to catch it, but he seemed relatively uninterested in my entire party and didn't know how to adjust his face to make it seem like he even pretending to cared. "What are you drinking?" Scribbles furiously. Returns with drinks. Checks in once the cups are empty with a "another round?" in monotone. Siiigh. Where have all the good servers gone? I know where they're not. Hint - it's here and it's him. Cheers friends! :)

The phone number and website didn't work, but we drove by and saw they were open so we stopped in to give it a try. It was a quiet weeknight with not a lot of customers but a nice moody speakeasy vibe. They were out of the skirt steak so we ordered tenders, steak bites and a burger. The steak bites were a little tough/overcooked to my liking but everything else was tasty.

I was surprised by this place! It was delicious. We had the parm tots and steak bites to start. Both were good! I have never had deep fried steak but it was good. We got burgers and a breakfast burrito. The burger was top 5 burger I have ever had. Moist and great flavor! My friend got the breakfast burrito, while I do think this is random, he said it was good and not just packed with egg. We got whiskey sours which we LOVED!! Solid choice for dinner and fun atmosphere.

Drinks are great, nice and strong and delicious. My lemon drop was, anyway. Hubs had a couple of Pacifico beers. Food menu selection was disappointing, but I selected chicken strips and had to order tots as a separate appetizer. $26 for strips n tots. Ridiculous! But the hubs burger was spectacular, overall a good experience. It's a small little bar with good ambiance. Masculine, Industrial decor.

Such a fun spot, good ambiance and vibes, great service and amazing drinks. We will definitely return when we are back in Bend.

The owners closed up shop downtown and created this new place on 2nd Street in Bend's Central District. It's now called Dogwood at the Pine Shed. Why Yelp won't create a new, distinct page for the Pine Shed is beyond me. That said, the Pine Shed is a fine place for drinks and food truck fare. The open, spacious 'shed' has plenty of varied seating surrounding a nice bar with quite a few tables outside on the patio. Mobility-challenged folks have choices too. For those worried about 2nd Street's reputation for sketchiness, don't be. Revitalization efforts by the city have transformed the area. At times of good weather, with the big doors open, the Pine Shed is quite a nice spot to relax. Cocktails were the raison d'etre for the former incarnation of Dogwood and that emphasis transfers here to the Pine Shed. I particularly like their versions of a margarita but the other cocktails are uniformly good too. The beer tap offerings are not so spectacular, however, with only four (and a cider). On one visit shortly after they opened for business, two beer taps were tapped out, which can be chalked up to growing pains. In any case, the Pine Shed can't be seriously regarded as a tap house in the style of the many others in Bend (On Tap, River's Place, Crosscut, The Lot, The Podski, Midtown Yacht Club, etc.). Come for the cocktails. They do offer low ABV and zero ABV drinks. At present, the food truck choices are abundant and pretty decent. Being trucks/carts, and thus mobile and prone to relocating themselves, I'll not list them here. Best to check the Pine Shed's webpage for current offerings and then go to the relevant Yelp page for reviews. Parking is street only, no parking lot. The city has completed construction on 2nd Street so there are more spots available than before.

The menu isn't very large and I think we both settled on choices quickly, deciding to try the most "quintessential" entrees to share. I chose the Blackened Redfish, and my boyfriend the Jambalaya. Even though we had already decided, the waitress went on her whole spiel through the menu highlights, including what we had already had planned to order. Awkward, but it was fine, and we didn't stray from our original choices. The Blackened Redfish was perfectly cooked and flaky. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes with a slightly tangy sauce. All of it was tasty, but I was a bit disappointed in the lack of spice to the blackening seasoning and the sauce. Also, serving it on grits instead of mashed potatoes would have made it feel 100% more Cajun, even with lack of seasoning. The Jambalaya fared a bit better, although my boyfriend was also left puzzled by the lack of spice to this classic dish. In all ways it was a very good representation of New Orleans style red jambalaya, with the andouille sausage being particularly notable for flavor. The cornbread it came with was pretty good. We shared a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. A very decadent concoction of chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel. It was one of the better $12 slices of cake I've had. Overall? The service was good, if not a bit awkward with the menu spiel. The food was all very well prepared, but for a Cajun style restaurant they sure could stand to spice things up a bit. It's not cheap, but at least the entrees are a full sized meal and you don't have to order many "tiny plates" to cobble together a dinner.
