Thick slices of grilled ham and bacon with perfectly poached eggs and the best breakfast potatoes on the planet. I know...I know...they're just potatoes, but these were perfectly crisp and incredibly tasty! Lemon hollandaise sauce (I always get it on the side so the muffin doesn't go soggy) was zesty and flavorful. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. This review, however, is for their Christmas day brunch buffet. - Fairly large selection of food, including more than enough options for a vegetarian. Everything I tried was good, no disappointments. - Great service for drinks, plate-clearing, etc. - It's not cheap but reasonable. They do have a senior discount. - We were a party of ten, so were seated in the back room with all the food tables, which was nice. I went to the river house with my mom as a little treat. We were seated in a strange area where they were loudly vacuuming the floor next to us. The chips and onion dip we ordered took weirdly long despite us being the only guests. They also were playing extremely bizarre music. But beyond that, the food was delicious and the views out the window were lovely. When we left, the staff were loudly socializing in a little group near the entrance. None of them said thank you or goodbye. It was kinda surreal, like we didn't matter during the entire visit. Maybe we just came by at a weird time. read more

I love this bar. We probably go two or three times a month. The bartenders are really friendly, in particular Charlie. they have great happy hours, including food. We always take guests there because it's just a really nice place and the views are great. It's like Cheers TV show. read more

The breakfast burrito had a quality variety of flavors but could've used a crema or some other sauce. No sides for the price point was also a bit of a disappointment. We stayed at the Riverhouse for a wedding we were attending out of town. We had dinner Thursday night during happy hour and got the best deal. Burger for $10 and shared fries and $5 wine. The food was fabulous. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside by the river. It was warm and calm in the sun. For breakfast we sat inside as it was a bit too Cold. I had the corned beef hash. The meat was tender and had a juicy nice flavor. Service was slow. I would definitely come back here just to eat, whether staying at the hotel or not. read more

Just ate here because I am staying at the hotel for a conference. The level of service or lack there of was astonishing. Our server was so inattentive, forgetful and purely poor at her job it was laughable. Nearly everything with our experience was poor. We only received one menu and a sheet of the specials. We were told they were short and that we would get ones; never did. Drink order was taken. For a screw top bottle, she used a bottle opener. Soda was 3/4 full. Order for dinner was taken. Two entrees. Asked for a side salad before the entrees arrived. Our food came out; Well one of ours did. Complete different tables order. Salad still has not arrived. About 10 minutes later the other entree arrived. Still no salad. Our server blamed the food runners. No sincerity or accountability of her own. Salad came half way through the entree. I declined as it was pointless at this juncture. The food was mediocre for the price. We were asked if we'd like to have desert. We ordered gelato. Again, at least 10-15 minutes before it arrived. When it arrived it was half way melted. My colleague asked for another serving because it was too melted. I just accepted what I got because I was wanting to get this over sooner than later. When we asked for the check, it arrived. Kind of challenging to fill out the check without a pen. When I asked our server for a pen, I was met with a little hostility saying that if I was paying with a card I should have just put the card out. I wanted to charge it to the room. Please note that the hostesses, bussers and other staff were nice and sincere. Our "server" on the other hand was a disaster. This wasn't just at our table but others that we could observe in our vicinity. I hope she was just having a bad day or something else. If not, she should look for a different line of work. 3 of us came in here on Memorial Day for breakfast, a super busy day, I know. Staff was swamped - claimed 75% had called in sick. The hostess was doing EVERYTHING from bussing to menus to water, etc. So, not to be mean, instead of 3 stars we'll go 4 for the 'heroic' effort. Two of us ordered the spinach tomato avocado benedict, my son the corned beef. The poached eggs may well have been hard boiled. No seasoning to speak of, and I thought it curious the spinach was just raw leaves tossed on top - i kinda thought for $20 they should be wilted or cooked in. the Potato's looked/tasted like they'd been in oven for many hours, hard and bland. I came here with my parents for a nice dinner on our first night in Bend. This place was so great, I started writing this review before we even finished dinner. The ambiance is amazing inside and outside with lovely and peaceful views of the river. The food was outstanding and the portions generous. We all enjoyed every dish we ordered. Jackie was our server and she was wonderful. She was pleasant and attentive and a lot of fun to talk to. She even gave a small sample of their soup so we could decide if we wanted to order it. Had a server that was supposed to wait on us but went to everyone else on several other tables and came to us once. Possibly twice to confirm our drinks after I had to go to the bar and ask for our drinks. The bar tender brought us our drinks. We worked here before and prior to new management we never felt this type of disrespect. Management made us feel as though he's never had this type of issue with this employee. This girl was not nice and was very short and definitely not a sincere person. I understand that we each go through things, but when doing a job we're supposed to keep our personal issues at home. We are supposed to give the upmost best service no matter what the job is and the lack of trust in my word as a customer was insulting and hopefully nobody else has to go through this again. I am hoping that management can actually have the skills to teach their employees how to treat all customers of all ethnicities there because I've never felt so disrespected. It was Mother's Day and this is the last thing I wanted my mother to experience. We got there at 7:00 and because of the lack of service so to speak, we didn't get out of there till about close to 9:00. We only had two drinks and minimal amount of food. I hope that this tells everyone how long we should've been there truly if we would've had decent service. We also never got our server to bring us the bill or ask us if we were done with our food we had to go up to them to get boxes and our check. Otherwise we probably would've gotten out of there at 9:30 so at that point I went to speak to the manager. I think that should speak volumes. Our stay was amazing but the restaurant service not so amazing in fact quite the opposite. Ok so this was the restaurant at the hotel I was staying at and I came here twice. Once during breakfast time and once during diner time. Overall all the place is a 3. Both times I sat and the bar as it was only me and got two different servers. During breakfast the lady was nice but distant. I orders the egg Benedict with smoke salmon, the potatoes and a side of avocado. I drank a OJ. I was a little disappointed that when I turned the avocado was gray so I had to leave half of it on the plate. Overall the egg Benedict were delicious. I came back for dinner and because I wasn't that hungry I ordered the flatbread and one of their local IPA draft, Boneyard. Flatbread was very had but it has a good flavor. Jeff and Steve were the bartenders during diner and they were very nice and friendly. The bar was nice and quiet both times I went so both time for me were a pleasant time. Overall if I'm staying here again (hotel is definitely a 2), I would come back for the egg Benedict and to try something else on the diner menu. read more

We used to go to Currents for breakfast and happy hours. It was always fun and service and food were always good. However, since the new management came in, service has gone downhill as well as the happy hour menu. We were just in there this morning after previously saying we would never go back. We were seated and completely ignored...again as we were on our previous visit. The people that were seated after us were waited on before us. We thought our server was going to take our order as she was waiting on the table right next to us, and my wife kept turning around looking at her, instead she walked away. I checked this place's Yelp review before we decided to give it a shot. The food was great! We had sandwiches, salads and pizza. All very good. My son and I split several of the gluten free and vegetarian sides which were fabulous. The beer and drink specials at happy hour were a value and the selection made the drinkers extra happy. The wait staff was attentive and nice. The view on the river was lovely. Everyone left happy. I think that their Yelp score should be a lot higher! read more

Met great friends here on our visit to Bend. We were offered seating inside or on the patio and we chose outside. The evening was so comfortable and watching and listening to the stream was soothing! We were promptly greeted by Dylan who was a great server. He took our cocktail orders and I ordered the Mexcalita! What a fabulous cocktail! Spicy and tasty... if you can handle a little "heat", I'd be sure to give this signature cocktail a try. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, especially me. I ordered the Blackened Rockfish. The description is very misleading in that it says it came with "New Orleans B.B.Q. sauce". That made NO sense to me on a blackened fish dish. Dylan explained that it was really BBQ sauce, but a reduction and my wife said go for it. I did and was so happy with the meal! I'd give it 5 stars on its own. Meh. I am always hesitant with hotel restaurants but the menu looked good so I tried it, twice. First off, it is freezing. The staff was a little cold as well. The menu was missing the delicious items that I saw here. I tried the beet salad- it was really good. I ordered a coffee which was awful. Later that evening I tried a change of scenery and ate at the bar. The bartender was nice but not overly accommodating. The flatbread was mediocre. The drink, an old fashioned, was awful. The online reviews were good. I was surprised. The vibe was ok- I wish the fireplaces had been on. Loved the service and the ambiance. The food was below our expectations. We followed this chef from a brewpub, Initiative in Redmond. There, his creations were unique and interesting. We expected to see more of that at Currents. Unfortunately, either the line cooks or corporate management seem to have undermined his attempts in that direction. The side dishes were indeed unusual, but were not effectively executed. The lintels that accompanied my wife's trout were not fully cooked. inexcusable! And they might have been a better accompaniment if they had a more sour component. And less of them. The portion could feed a family. And the trout was not quite fresh. The cannellini beans in my side dish were also undercooked. Who is cooking these beans!?' This is an amateur mistake. The dish sounded interesting with Tasso, but just wasn't. It seems the idea was good, but the carrying out was not. My duck breast was slightly over cooked, which I didn't really mind. It was a tasty piece of meat. However, there was a sweet sauce on it that undermined rather than enhanced. Too much! Again, probably a good idea poorly executed. All of this may have been because we were there on the evening of Easter. Likely the A Team was was off on Spring Break. Nonetheless , given other reviews, sadly we are unlikely return, despite the attentive staff and the lovely Deschutes River cascading below. Headed from Bend to Redmond and wanted to stop somewhere in the way for lunch. Found this neat little lodge, restaurant bar thanks to Yelp! Visited at about 12:30 for brunch time. I ordered the wedge salad with side salmon. Portion size was large and satisfying. Salmon was cooked perfectly which sometimes is difficult to get. Great flavor and the salad was well balanced. Patio has remarkable view of the river. Going to look into lodging on the next visit to Bend. read more

We had a terrible experience with the Hostess at this restaurant, after using the "tock" app to make a March 21st dinner reservation. We stayed at the Riverhouse Lodge for 2 nights and made a reservation using the "tock" app that was advertised in the room. When making the reservation, we had asked for a booth and answered the question about what we might be celebrating, which was a "birthday". I had just finished a 4-year battle with Cancer, so it was a big deal to be celebrating another birthday. From the moment we walked in the door, and had to interface with the hostess, we were disappointed. She was having a conversation with someone from the bar, which seemed more personal than professional, and she never acknowledged us until that chat was done. We felt like an inconvenience from the moment we walked in, and she never even attempted to suggest that "she would be right with us". She seemed put off when we told her we had a reservation, and after taking a quick peak at it, proceeded to walk us to a table. We told her that we had requested a booth, and she said that she did not have any booths available at the moment. No apology, just a statement of fact. We asked if she read the entire reservation, and she claimed she had, so we relented to sitting at a table. Our next mistake was assuming that she had in fact reviewed the reservation and shared with our server that we were celebrating a birthday that evening, but she had not. At the end of the meal, my husband asked our server whether the hostess had shared with her that it was my birthday, and we were all shocked that she had not bothered. We wrote an email to the Restaurant Manager and copied the Riverhouse Lodge management team and heard back from the Restaurant Manager. He apologized and suspected that there was a problem with the "tock" app, where the data entered by the customer did make it in its entirety to the restaurant. While he was pleasant, our expectations of the restaurant dropped several notches, especially since the food was nothing special, and he failed to address the issue with the attitude and lack of professionalism with his hostess. This lodge and restaurant were written up in Northwest Magazine last month, however, our overall experience was very disappointing. The photo spread shows the beautiful river scenes, however, right across the street from the lobby is a Hobby Lobby and an almost completely shuttered old Mall. We copied the Riverhouse Lodge Manager on our complaint and never heard anything from them. We visit Bend around 4-times each year "off season" and there are dozens of other restaurants to choose from where you will not be let down like we were here. read more
