We went to Bend, Oregon to have a brunch at Currents which is located in the River house lodge. The set up is really nice and the view outside along the river, they also had live music playing while we had our lunch. I had the smoked beef brisket hash, because the special of the day they sold out. The smoked beef brisket hash was okay, I was expecting a smoked flavor, but didn't seem to have it. My wife had the soup & salad combo and she enjoyed the hardy soup with the flavor and the salad was a Caesar which was fresh and crispy and tasty. Our son in law enjoyed his tuna melt and Caesar salad very much and cleaned everything that was on his plate. Our daughter had the cheese fondue with bread chucks, but hardly touched it. We also shared the baked bread with virgin olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette which was very very good. Also we shared the vegetable platter with 2 different types of humus which also was very tasty and delicious. And we also shared the fried green tomatoes with a buffet type of sauce and it went really well. If you like a nice relaxing and scenic place to enjoy and relax and have a good meal, you should try currents. The restroom is clean and well maintained and the restaurant area was clean. Unfortunately this was a miss all the way around. I'm not giving it 1 star because of the beautiful setting on the river but food and service were both very poor experiences. Food took an hour and a half to arrive and in that time our server came by once to refill drinks and water. The restaurant was about 50% full but she just disappeared. We weren't sure what took the kitchen so long either as we were never given an explanation or apology. Once the food arrived we received overcooked scrambled eggs and cold dishes. My hash was tepid but my friend's gravy had been sitting so long it became gummy. It had taken us so long to receive our food, we were hungry, and we were needing to get back on the road home that we didn't complain. Management should be utterly ashamed of themselves, particularly the GM (our group was full of food service folks including a fellow GM and they were all appalled). Never again. This place is not cheap and subpar doesn't even begin to describe the complete and total lack of food quality and service one receives. I don't usually like to leave reviews like this but this was maybe the worst breakfast I've ever had. Save your money and time and avoid. read more

Eating on the deck is a lovely setting. However the amount of brisket on the "Smoked Brisket Poutine" was embarrassingly little. Hardly enough to have Brisket in the name. The medium-rare steak was cold in the center and service was lacking. Hardly worth the prices we paid. read more

I've come here a couple of times over the years during happy hour for a drink and maybe a burger. Currents is a solid option for that - pleasant ambiance, river view, good food. This review, however, is for their Christmas day brunch buffet. - Fairly large selection of food, including more than enough options for a vegetarian. Everything I tried was good, no disappointments. - Great service for drinks, plate-clearing, etc. - It's not cheap but reasonable. They do have a senior discount. - We were a party of ten, so were seated in the back room with all the food tables, which was nice. And the tables weren't packed together, making for a very comfortable dining experience. read more

I went to the river house with my mom as a little treat. We were seated in a strange area where they were loudly vacuuming the floor next to us. The chips and onion dip we ordered took weirdly long despite us being the only guests. They also were playing extremely bizarre music. But beyond that, the food was delicious and the views out the window were lovely. When we left, the staff were loudly socializing in a little group near the entrance. None of them said thank you or goodbye. It was kinda surreal, like we didn't matter during the entire visit. Maybe we just came by at a weird time. read more

This was my first time at Currents after being invited by a friend to have brunch there. It is part of the Riverhouse Hotel and it is right next to the river so it has a beautiful setting for the patio deck tables. We choose to sit inside though because it was kind of already hot. It's great to have both options available. The menu has both breakfast and lunch items so there's a variety to choose from. I ordered the slow smoked brisket hash. It was a bowl of delicious flavors. The brisket, in combination with the potatoes and other ingredients was tasty. My only complaint was that my over easy eggs were overcooked. In addition, my opinion is that it should have come with a piece of toast or some kind of bread. The dish would be perfect to have a carb side. My friends ordered a breakfast quinoa bowl and also the smoked salmon scramble and both loved their dishes. The kids who were with us ordered chicken strips and fries and also a mac & cheese. The mac & cheese looked amazing and so did all of the other entrées. Everyone liked and enjoyed their food. Portions are generous (although overall very pricey), and so we all had leftovers to take home. Service was excellent--attentive and kind. The whole staff we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. The dining room is beautiful and on that morning fairly quiet and peaceful. The patio is also gorgeous with the river being next to it and many diners were outside. Next time, I would choose the outside seating to enjoy the water scene. It was a wonderful experience for a first visit. I'm looking forward to going again. read more

THREE. - about 2 tbsp worth of chopped pepper - a tsp of "cashew butter" very oddly smeared on the bottom of the bowl - three skinny 2" "medallions" of sweet potato - 2 eggs The idea is great and the ingredients all work together - but please for the love of all things healthy breakfast related up the veggie:quinoa ratio up to 1:1. read more

The river gets a star and the waitstaff (morning only) the other. Food is trash. Had dinner last night, horrible!! Asked for a table the male host said "15 minutes" then was rudely interrupted by the other host telling us it would be 45. He was so kind and did work on getting us a table quickly. Was sat and ordered. Waited 45 minutes for pasta, a salad, and three cuts of meat in a watery sauce. It was absolutely disgusting! Paid the bill and left. Since we had a room at the establishment, we thought we would give breakfast a try. ‍.... Plates came out missing items that were listed on the ingredients description. Just a disaster. Mind you, plates are $20 + Not a third time! Don't waste your money. Beautiful place, horrible food!! read more

Went for breakfast today at Currents at The Riverhouse and was pleasantly surprised. Hadn't been there for several years because their service was awful and sporadic and you never knew how things were going to go. but I love the setting so we tried again. The food was wonderful and they even had delightful entertainment. A treat for sure. Seems like I saw something about them on Nextdoor so decided to give them another chance. They had their act together today!! Such a pleasant experience. The food was delicious. I had an unusual Benedict dish that had sweet potatoes, refried beans and spinach. Wonderful! I would definitely have it again. Paired that with a mimosa. All around such a pleasant meal and visit. Love it when they solve the problem. Now we are going to have to try dinner. read more

Sitting at a table watching the river flow past about 15 feet away. Beautiful and relaxing environment! The eggs Benedict may well the best I've ever eaten. Thick slices of grilled ham and bacon with perfectly poached eggs and the best breakfast potatoes on the planet. I know...I know...they're just potatoes, but these were perfectly crisp and incredibly tasty! Lemon hollandaise sauce (I always get it on the side so the muffin doesn't go soggy) was zesty and flavorful. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Came back just for Jackie. She is awesome, my husband and I had a pleasant conversation about how long she has worked here. 7 years! That's got to be some kind of record! However she said everything has turned around due to having better management and chefs in house. Loved her enthusiasm and her laugh! Breakfast was great, had the hash and the fried chicken dish with the sunny side up egg, both upon her suggestion and both were delicious. Will visit again. Lots of fresh flavors from the pico de gallo, plenty of spice from the chorizo, eggs were cooked perfectly! The patio offers a beautiful setting overlooking the river. The drinks were good, though the service was spotty. The food prices are outrageous and definitely cost prohibitive for non-meat eaters: $18 for hummus, $17 for a pretzel, $14 for olives, $20 for heirloom tomato and burrata salad and, best of all, $31 for a quinoa and veggie bowl that probably costs $5 to make. Will likely visit again for drinks and the view, but we'll be spending our food $$ elsewhere. read more

We are staying at the hotel and hopefully. Ambiance is cute right along the river. Our service was absolutely terrible. There was hardly anyone there and it took over twenty minutes for the server to even approach our table. Our food came out and she never even checked on us. Our daughter's burger was made totally wrong. We flagged down a hostess since our server never came back. Second burger came 45 minutes after we had been waiting and it was still wrong. Server still never came and checked on us. Finally after 90 minutes she "showed" up said sorry the kitchen made a mistake and asked if we wanted anything else and provided us with our bill, which was insanely high. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. We had reservations and still waited 30 minutes for a server to take our order. After ordering, we waited over an hour for food that NEVER arrived, so we finally left. Several tables around us were experiencing the same frustration. What made it worse was the complete lack of communication. The waitress offered no updates and repeatedly told us, "I don't know" when we asked how much longer it would be. The breakfast burrito had a quality variety of flavors but could've used a crema or some other sauce. No sides for the price point was also a bit of a disappointment. We stayed at the Riverhouse for a wedding we were attending out of town. We had dinner Thursday night during happy hour and got the best deal. Burger for $10 and shared fries and $5 wine. The food was fabulous. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside by the river. It was warm and calm in the sun. For breakfast we sat inside as it was a bit too Cold. I had the corned beef hash. The meat was tender and had a juicy nice flavor. Service was slow. I would definitely come back here just to eat, whether staying at the hotel or not. read more

A wonderfully relaxing experience! The service was on-point! Thank you, Jackie. The ambiance was spectacular as we sat on the back deck on the river, nearing late afternoon and early evening light. 3 of us came in here on Memorial Day for breakfast, a super busy day, I know. Staff was swamped - claimed 75% had called in sick. The hostess was doing EVERYTHING from bussing to menus to water, etc. So, not to be mean, instead of 3 stars we'll go 4 for the 'heroic' effort. Two of us ordered the spinach tomato avocado benedict, my son the corned beef. The poached eggs may well have been hard boiled. No seasoning to speak of, and I thought it curious the spinach was just raw leaves tossed on top - i kinda thought for $20 they should be wilted or cooked in. the Potato's looked/tasted like they'd been in oven for many hours, hard and bland. My son inhaled his corned beef. We didnt bother ordering coffee as it was clear no refills would be coming :) Nice view, nice patio, but I'd probably skip coming back here. read more

Just ate here because I am staying at the hotel for a conference. The level of service or lack there of was astonishing. Our server was so inattentive, forgetful and purely poor at her job it was laughable. Nearly everything with our experience was poor. We only received one menu and a sheet of the specials. We were told they were short and that we would get ones; never did. Drink order was taken. For a screw top bottle, she used a bottle opener. Soda was 3/4 full. Order for dinner was taken. Two entrees. Asked for a side salad before the entrees arrived. Our food came out; Well one of ours did. Complete different tables order. Salad still has not arrived. About 10 minutes later the other entree arrived. Still no salad. Our server blamed the food runners. No sincerity or accountability of her own. Salad came half way through the entree. I declined as it was pointless at this juncture. The food was mediocre for the price. We were asked if we'd like to have desert. We ordered gelato. Again, at least 10-15 minutes before it arrived. When it arrived it was half way melted. My colleague asked for another serving because it was too melted. I just accepted what I got because I was wanting to get this over sooner than later. When we asked for the check, it arrived. Kind of challenging to fill out the check without a pen. When I asked our server for a pen, I was met with a little hostility saying that if I was paying with a card I should have just put the card out. I wanted to charge it to the room. Please note that the hostesses, bussers and other staff were nice and sincere. Our "server" on the other hand was a disaster. This wasn't just at our table but others that we could observe in our vicinity. I hope she was just having a bad day or something else. If not, she should look for a different line of work. Needless to say, we won't be eating there again even though we will be here for an additional two days. I'd recommend you dine off property at the RiverHouse Lodge read more

Ok so this was the restaurant at the hotel I was staying at and I came here twice. Once during breakfast time and once during diner time. Overall all the place is a 3. Both times I sat and the bar as it was only me and got two different servers. During breakfast the lady was nice but distant. I orders the egg Benedict with smoke salmon, the potatoes and a side of avocado. I drank a OJ. I was a little disappointed that when I turned the avocado was gray so I had to leave half of it on the plate. Overall the egg Benedict were delicious. I came back for dinner and because I wasn't that hungry I ordered the flatbread and one of their local IPA draft, Boneyard. Flatbread was very had but it has a good flavor. Jeff and Steve were the bartenders during diner and they were very nice and friendly. The bar was nice and quiet both times I went so both time for me were a pleasant time. Overall if I'm staying here again (hotel is definitely a 2), I would come back for the egg Benedict and to try something else on the diner menu. read more

I came here with my parents for a nice dinner on our first night in Bend. This place was so great, I started writing this review before we even finished dinner. The ambiance is amazing inside and outside with lovely and peaceful views of the river. The food was outstanding and the portions generous. We all enjoyed every dish we ordered. Jackie was our server and she was wonderful. She was pleasant and attentive and a lot of fun to talk to. She even gave a small sample of their soup so we could decide if we wanted to order it. We were seated outside by a lovely host, he served us water. Then nothing, I mean nothing, no waitress nothing. Waited until the table next to us was served food while we had nothing. Met great friends here on our visit to Bend. We were offered seating inside or on the patio and we chose outside. The evening was so comfortable and watching and listening to the stream was soothing! We were promptly greeted by Dylan who was a great server. He took our cocktail orders and I ordered the Mexcalita! What a fabulous cocktail! Spicy and tasty... if you can handle a little "heat", I'd be sure to give this signature cocktail a try. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, especially me. I ordered the Blackened Rockfish. The description is very misleading in that it says it came with "New Orleans B.B.Q. sauce". That made NO sense to me on a blackened fish dish. Dylan explained that it was really BBQ sauce, but a reduction and my wife said go for it. I did and was so happy with the meal! I'd give it 5 stars on its own. The ambiance, service, beverages and dinners were very good and I would highly recommend giving Currents a try. You won't be disappointed! read more

Stopped in to have dinner after coming from Crater Lake and heading to Sisters. The service was terribly slow and the food was mediocre. We only saw our waitress 2 times the entire hour we were here. Staffing needs to be improved. It was nice sitting out by the creek/river. read more
