Jon's Ale House - Bend, Oregon This place was packed when we went, but the staff was still super friendly and attentive. The vibe was fun and welcoming! Food portions were huge (like... come hungry fr), and everything was delicious. I added a pic and video because it was that good. Definitely a must-try if you're in Bend!

They had a great menu, staff were very friendly with the regulars, seems like a local hangout. I was traeling thru and stopped by for a snack. Onion soup was ok, the steak bites were good. Generous portion of meat. Would have enjoyed a few more dipping sauce options but otherwise a nice stop.

Downtown Bend is a haven for beer lovers. We went to as many breweries and taprooms as we could; Brother Jon's was one of our only beer bars as we were in need of an afternoon snack. The place feels like an old diner, with booths around the outside, a big bar, tables filling the main space, and beer kitsch all over the walls. The taplist was great, with many local options. I opted for an IPA from a nearby brewery that happened to be closed that day. We also had soft pretzels and other snacks. Everything was alright - service was just okay, it didn't feel welcoming but it wasn't bad either. It was the kind of place we knew we were done after one drink. Prices were reasonable as well.

I had a wonderful salmon sandwich at Brother Jon's Alehouse last night. The bun was really fresh and the salmon was perfectly cooked. I also enjoyed the chips and guacamole, and a bite of my friend's perfectly cooked soft huge pretzel. The servers were friendly and efficient, although I got the sense that they were very overworked. I could have done without the really loud atmosphere, but that is to be expected at a sports bar. We were glad that we ate here, as our vegan friend found a good quinoa bowl, and the rest of us found range other good options. It was also reasonably priced compared to some other restaurants.

Delicious! And the strawberry lemonade is out of this world! And the best tasting pretzel I've ever had. The French onion and the cobb salad were very tasty.

This is one of the 1st restaurants I went to years ago after moving here and one I've been to more than a lot of others. What can I say? Great service and great food. I typically order their French Dip (prob 90% of the time). The sandwich itself is generously portioned on that Sparrow hoagie and their Au Jus has a great flavor. This is probably tied with Broken Top for the best dip in town (although BTBS's is very different). The other day, I went with the Steak Sandwich, which I don't remember seeing that particular version before. It was the Garlic-soy marinated flank steak with chimmichurri, havarti, arugula, tomato, and onion. Wow! So many fantastic flavors and textures packed into that sandwich!! As usual, the meat on the sandwich was plentiful, with steak stretching from one edge, non-stop, to the other. Look at my pic, see the juices glistening in the steak! The way the chimmichurri soaked into the bun was just awesome. The havarti was just softened and not overly melted. And a Sparrow hoagie...? Just about perfection. I may have found a new fave. It's a little expensive at $17, but add some fries and you could prob split with someone for a reasonable lunch. Brother John's does it right across the board. If you haven't been, you need to check it out today!

Thanks for being here! Always a great spot for a perfect burger, good vibes, and amazing service!

Ended up here after walking downtown. Nice location and very friendly waitress. Only a short wait and they texted when ready. We split the tot-chos and the fish and chips. Way to much food for the two of us. Everything was good. Fish was the best part. Drinks were good but I was hopping for a little more fancy. Kind of reminded me of apple bees drinks, but they were tasty and effective.

I wanna start off by saying the service was amazing, I came here with my girlfriend visiting from California and she saw this place and decided to give it a shot and I'm happy I did! The lady Dani was super friendly and checked in multiple times and made sure everything was great! The food was delicious and I highly recommend the blacked salmon and pesto Mac and cheese! We also got the moonlight which was amazing, I would definitely recommend you to give it a try!

Awesome that you can do many different sides including regular fries, Cajun fries, salad, chips, and more options... do wish they had onion rings however. I got the hummus plate which was good but not the best I've had. It came with a baguette which was more like garlic bread so I would have, personally, liked pita more. It also had a few olives on the side with a red pepper type sauce. I got it with no pickled onions. They had a great beer selection and even a few tasty non-alcoholic beers. Also had kombucha on tap which was delicious (from Humm). Everyone working was super sweet and the vibes were relaxed and casual. Our food came out quick and exactly how we ordered it. They also seemed to have spaces for larger parties, too. They also have a little gift shop if you wanted to pick anything from shirts, to bottle openers, to beer candles and more! Would come back again!

But this place in Bend... this is serious burger territory. First thing you notice: they're not messing around with the menu. Just burgers that understand what a burger is supposed to be. It looked like something a scientist made to test the limits of happiness. Fries were solid. Soda cold. No weird nonsense. Just burgers doing burger things. Only reason it's 4 stars instead of 5 is because if I lived closer I would probably eat here too often and that feels medically irresponsible. I'd give it 6 stars if Yelp understood burgers better.

I took a moment to study the vintage photo of the original firehouse that now serves as the brick bones of the restaurant. Awesome seeing the original garage doors and recognizing where the fire trucks would have sat in waiting. They even kept the fire pole above the bar. I found myself wishing other areas of the restaurant had been designed or decorated more intentionally to honor its soulful past. It wants to be a high class spot, but something about the interior design feels underwhelming. I enjoyed the drinks I tried although the menu seems a bit unimaginative. The energy was strange, maybe it was that night, but bar staff seemed to be a bit "altered" and on edge. One was wearing what may or may not have been an intentional cologne that smelled like the overpowering essence of hot rubber mixed with cigar smoke, and leather. I ended up ordering the fresh steelhead and it was amazing. Caesar salad was lovely. And the drink of the night was called something like a White Christmas but was sort of a wintery margarita. Awesome night in the end. But I prefer the Redmond location.

I found Brickhouse thanks to Yelp! and I was sold when I saw they had French Onion Soup and Blackened Ribeyes. The only problem was that it was a Sunday night and it would be 8 pm when I finally made my way there. They were open until 9 pm, but I know a lot of restaurants will close early if they don't have enough patrons. When I showed up at the restaurant I asked if they were still serving and the waitress that helped me went to check. The Manager came out and was very nice and said they were. I asked for the bar and he led me over to the bar with a menu. The bartender was incredibly nice from the get go. I should have written the review earlier, because then I would have remembered his name, but unfortunately it escapes me now. I already knew what I wanted but I didn't want to rush through it. I ordered a dirty martini and the French Onion Soup. Both were great. The soup was loaded with Gruyère, which I loved. It was rich and wasn't overwhelming with the onions. It hit the spot on this cold (to the Californian) night. The bartender recommended I try the Wagyu ribeye and I figured why not? So, I got the Blackened Wagyu Ribeye. It came with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies which were both really tasty. I like mashed potatoes, but I'm not crazy about them, but these were really good. The steak was huge and they cooked it perfectly. The blackening seasoning wasn't quite as flavorful as I am used to, but it was still good. I managed to get through the cap of the ribeye and that was delicious. I also had a glass of wine with my steak that the bartender helped me pick. Everything was really tasty, the restaurant was clean and upscale looking, and the people working there were very nice. It was the perfect way to spoil myself after transporting my foster kitten to Spokane and then driving back to California. I would definitely return if I make a trip through Bend again.

I don't think you're going to experience a groundbreaking culinary experience here, but we did enjoy the quality of the classic dishes we ordered. I was served by a tall male bartender who was incredibly personable--we talked quite a bit, and honestly, I'd go back just for that experience alone. That said, the drinks he crafted and the food that came out of the kitchen gave me plenty more reasons to return. I ended up ordering an impressive amount of food, and by the time I hit my fifth large course, he joked that he'd have to pinch himself if I actually finished it. I couldn't help it--everything was that good. He also pointed me toward the owner, who clearly knows exactly what he's doing in the kitchen and carries himself with confidence and intention. Every aspect of this place felt immersive, like stepping into a classy, well-directed film. The atmosphere, the food, the service--it all came together seamlessly.

I had them and was very satisfied. Drinks were great, and we appreciated the non-alcoholic mocktail options for part of our group. The fries were a bit salty and the steak was slightly overcooked, but that wasn't my plate. Overall, still a great experience. The ambience was great and made for a comfortable, enjoyable meal.

We ate here on a recent trip from Eugene and we're excited to see a cajun style restaurant in Bend…read more The restaurant is nice inside and has a low key upscale feel. The menu isn't very large and I think we both settled on choices quickly, deciding to try the most "quintessential" entrees to share. I chose the Blackened Redfish, and my boyfriend the Jambalaya. Even though we had already decided, the waitress went on her whole spiel through the menu highlights, including what we had already had planned to order. Awkward, but it was fine, and we didn't stray from our original choices. The Blackened Redfish was perfectly cooked and flaky. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes with a slightly tangy sauce. All of it was tasty, but I was a bit disappointed in the lack of spice to the blackening seasoning and the sauce. Also, serving it on grits instead of mashed potatoes would have made it feel 100% more Cajun, even with lack of seasoning. The Jambalaya fared a bit better, although my boyfriend was also left puzzled by the lack of spice to this classic dish. In all ways it was a very good representation of New Orleans style red jambalaya, with the andouille sausage being particularly notable for flavor. The cornbread it came with was pretty good. We shared a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. A very decadent concoction of chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel. It was one of the better $12 slices of cake I've had. Overall? The service was good, if not a bit awkward with the menu spiel. The food was all very well prepared, but for a Cajun style restaurant they sure could stand to spice things up a bit. It's not cheap, but at least the entrees are a full sized meal and you don't have to order many "tiny plates" to cobble together a dinner.
