We've been here a handful of times usually just for a drink. This time we tried the nachos carnitas for $18, which were solid but wouldn't say worth the price. Service is always good and it's an enjoyable place to watch a game. Going to try one of their burgers or pizzas some time soon hopefully.

We CRUSHED the wings and fry's. The burger and nachos are also great.

This place is one of Bends hidden gems. The servers are super nice. Drinks are outstanding...... And the food ??? Magnificent

My hubby and I went to send Hayden Holmes amphitheater for concert so it was a late night so the next day wanted to have a good hot breakfast so we went to the Hideaway. The waitress was really nice, but they were definitely understaffed so it took a long time to get our order in and then it took forever for us to get our food. It started to get really busy in there so the food was not hot the eggs were a not fully cooked runny and food wasn't hot, unfortunately ham was super thin and potatoes on both of ours were not all fried gravy was good just not hot husband bacon was soft, just a bummer because we were really looking forward to a good hardy breakfast one thing the iced tea was good, but also only got one glass because waitress was so busy so that was a expensive glass of iced tea. The reason we ordered is because you get refills on iced tea so I would've just ordered water if I would've known we were only gonna get one class ,I don't think will be back, but it was worth a try. And once again I don't blame the waitress it just I understand they seemed understaffed, but for the price what we spent was around $52 with tip rather spend that somewhere else.and have hot food and more than one glass of iced tea.

We come to the hideaway every time we're in town. Food is legit and the TV's are plentiful! Easy as was and right next door to the Porsche Audi dealership so you can grab a beer a bite and buy a care in one stop.

The Ruben was so huge.

Thank you Ron K for the great service. It was very busy inside, but we never waited for anything. The nachos carnitas was delicious. Our burgers were cooked perfectly and we ordered them cooked very different ways. The multiple screens kept the family entertained and happy.

Between the exceptionally good food at Hook and Plow, a most pleasant hotel experience, and a memorable trip to the High Desert Museum; our trip to Bend turned out to be a pleasure instead of the miserableness I expected. We had the Steak Tartare, the Chef's Board, the Blackend Crabcake, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Bone-in Pork Chop. We each got the cheesecake for desert and split the other dishes. This was more than enough for the three of us and we left full, happy, and with three large to-go boxes. The flavors of the various dishes were amazing. While all the dishes were vvery good, the standouts to me were the steak Tartare, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Cheesecake.

We were greeted by the host and seated quickly. We started our meal with a delicious non-alcoholic drink and the Chef's Board: a charcuterie with an assortment of cured meats, rustic bread, and various spreads. That came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, our main courses came out much, much later and lukewarm. Luckily, the food was good enough that it made up for the temperature. I had the NY strip steak. The steak and the Boursin mashed potatoes alone were very good. The pickled onions and chimichurri complemented the meat very well. The meal was supposed to include brussel sprouts but came with a grilled broccoli cauliflower assortment instead. My wife had the Scallop Risotto which was also a great recommendation from the server. In reality, The Hook & Plow deserved 3 1/2 stars but that's not an option on Yelp. It may have been an off night for the staff, so I will give them the benefit of doubt. We would be open to trying it again sometime in the future.

We started with a beautiful bottle of Domaine Serene 2021 Pinot Noir... smooth, elegant, and the perfect pairing for everything that followed. I started with mussels and clams (seafood will always be my first pick) and scallops for my husband--both were incredible. For the main event, I had the blackened redfish (SO good) which is the best I have had outside of New Orleans and the steak lover went all in on the ribeye... and let's just say there were zero leftovers! Every bite was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, and the best part? Our server Emily never missed a beat all night! If you're in Bend and looking for a fantastic night out--this is your spot. All the tables were full and it was a Monday night!

We ate here on a recent trip from Eugene and we're excited to see a cajun style restaurant in Bend…read more The restaurant is nice inside and has a low key upscale feel. The menu isn't very large and I think we both settled on choices quickly, deciding to try the most "quintessential" entrees to share. I chose the Blackened Redfish, and my boyfriend the Jambalaya. Even though we had already decided, the waitress went on her whole spiel through the menu highlights, including what we had already had planned to order. Awkward, but it was fine, and we didn't stray from our original choices. The Blackened Redfish was perfectly cooked and flaky. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes with a slightly tangy sauce. All of it was tasty, but I was a bit disappointed in the lack of spice to the blackening seasoning and the sauce. Also, serving it on grits instead of mashed potatoes would have made it feel 100% more Cajun, even with lack of seasoning. The Jambalaya fared a bit better, although my boyfriend was also left puzzled by the lack of spice to this classic dish. In all ways it was a very good representation of New Orleans style red jambalaya, with the andouille sausage being particularly notable for flavor. The cornbread it came with was pretty good. We shared a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. A very decadent concoction of chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel. It was one of the better $12 slices of cake I've had. Overall? The service was good, if not a bit awkward with the menu spiel. The food was all very well prepared, but for a Cajun style restaurant they sure could stand to spice things up a bit. It's not cheap, but at least the entrees are a full sized meal and you don't have to order many "tiny plates" to cobble together a dinner.

So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place. In the meantime, I remember how fun and delicious it could be to eat at The Drake.

The bartender let me try two but that was my preference. The pretzel was delicious. I'm not a huge beer cheese fan but it was hot and delicious with the mustard around the outside. We were curious about the cask beer which apparently is warm (or room temperature) and flat- not what you look for normally in a beer! Awesome that you can do many different sides including regular fries, Cajun fries, salad, chips, and more options... do wish they had onion rings however. I got the hummus plate which was good but not the best I've had. It came with a baguette which was more like garlic bread so I would have, personally, liked pita more. It also had a few olives on the side with a red pepper type sauce. I got it with no pickled onions. They had a great beer selection and even a few tasty non-alcoholic beers. Also had kombucha on tap which was delicious (from Humm). Everyone working was super sweet and the vibes were relaxed and casual. Our food came out quick and exactly how we ordered it. They also seemed to have spaces for larger parties, too. They also have a little gift shop if you wanted to pick anything from shirts, to bottle openers, to beer candles and more! Would come back again!

We were seated at the low seats at the bar but weren't given menus, so I had to walk up to the hostess stand for them after waiting for a decent amount of time. The red-headed bartender/server tried to walk away after taking our drink order and had to stop him from walking away to order food. There were no check-ins at the table, a hostess walked around once filling everyone's water but that was it (so we had empty water for about half the time we were there), I had to flag down the bartender by staring at him from across the bar to get his attention for a check, once I got the check he again tried to immediately walk off even though I had the card & wallet on the table and nearly immediately put it in the book, and in general he was not amiable. I actually asked my friend after the first interaction of 'do you think he's having a bad day or hates it here?'. Lastly, the oysters are listed as 'oysters' with no description but they are not normal oysters - they have green vinaigrette, some roe type orange topping, and personally weren't enjoyable. 2.5 for service and not listing ingredients. 3 because the brussel sprouts and drinks.

I took a moment to study the vintage photo of the original firehouse that now serves as the brick bones of the restaurant. Awesome seeing the original garage doors and recognizing where the fire trucks would have sat in waiting. They even kept the fire pole above the bar. I found myself wishing other areas of the restaurant had been designed or decorated more intentionally to honor its soulful past. It wants to be a high class spot, but something about the interior design feels underwhelming. I enjoyed the drinks I tried although the menu seems a bit unimaginative. The energy was strange, maybe it was that night, but bar staff seemed to be a bit "altered" and on edge. One was wearing what may or may not have been an intentional cologne that smelled like the overpowering essence of hot rubber mixed with cigar smoke, and leather. I ended up ordering the fresh steelhead and it was amazing. Caesar salad was lovely. And the drink of the night was called something like a White Christmas but was sort of a wintery margarita. I found Brickhouse thanks to Yelp! and I was sold when I saw they had French Onion Soup and Blackened Ribeyes. The only problem was that it was a Sunday night and it would be 8 pm when I finally made my way there. They were open until 9 pm, but I know a lot of restaurants will close early if they don't have enough patrons. When I showed up at the restaurant I asked if they were still serving and the waitress that helped me went to check. The Manager came out and was very nice and said they were. I asked for the bar and he led me over to the bar with a menu. The bartender was incredibly nice from the get go. I should have written the review earlier, because then I would have remembered his name, but unfortunately it escapes me now. I already knew what I wanted but I didn't want to rush through it. I ordered a dirty martini and the French Onion Soup. Both were great. The soup was loaded with Gruyère, which I loved. It was rich and wasn't overwhelming with the onions. It hit the spot on this cold (to the Californian) night. The bartender recommended I try the Wagyu ribeye and I figured why not? So, I got the Blackened Wagyu Ribeye. It came with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies which were both really tasty. I like mashed potatoes, but I'm not crazy about them, but these were really good. The steak was huge and they cooked it perfectly. The blackening seasoning wasn't quite as flavorful as I am used to, but it was still good. I managed to get through the cap of the ribeye and that was delicious. I also had a glass of wine with my steak that the bartender helped me pick. Everything was really tasty, the restaurant was clean and upscale looking, and the people working there were very nice. It was the perfect way to spoil myself after transporting my foster kitten to Spokane and then driving back to California. I would definitely return if I make a trip through Bend again.
