Absolutely great service and THE cleanest, freshest pub/bar food I've ever experienced! I strongly recommend!

I want to say that this place looked like just another business on the outside but what we found on the inside has now made this place our go to place to go to when we are passing through town. We passed this place and realized our hotel is basically in the same parking lot. We decided we would walk there and give it a try. The place has a bar, tables, 2 pool tables and a gaming area. It was a Monday night and their wings are on special. Yeah! We were greeted by the server and we ordered some IPA beers. They only have 3 IPAs on draft but the one we got was amazing. We ordered a burger, appetizer of chicken nuggets and 2 orders of wings. We got them pretty quick. The nuggets doesn't look like regular nuggets but rather a chicken breast cut up in pieces and deep fried. I ordered these for my mother who doesn't eat a lot at night but holy cow, she ate it all! My daughter and I got the wings with their Monday night special of 6 wings for only $7. These wings are very meaty. One of the best we have tried! It filled each of us up. I can't remember which burger my husband ordered but it was a spicy one. He loved it! The service was being amazing. We had our server checking on us but then the bartender came around. These 2 woman rocked the whole place! Best service ever. You can see the chef and he did an amazing job! Now, fast forward exactly a week later, we were on our way back from our trip to visit the grandkids in Spokane and we were excited to come back here. So one week later we were back for the wings, chicken nuggets but this time the fish & chips. The bartender was our server. Looks like the other server just got off since we arrived at around 8p. Well once again the service was amazing. The chef fixed our food and was helping out by bringing it to our table! I will say that my husband prefers his fish and chips made with cod. He did say the rockfish was amazing but he still prefers cod so maybe a 4.5 stars, lol. Can I say that if I lived in Bend I would be coming here all the time! We are excited to try this place again when we go through town again. BTW, my mom once again ate her chicken nuggets but we added a side of fries for only $2.

This place is so underrated! Some of the best food and cocktails in Bend. Janelle and Casey rock and always makes us feel welcomed! Chefs care about what they serve and just great vibes!

absolutely loved it here! My family and I came for my birthday celebration and the food was absolutely amazing. the best pub and bar food that I've ever had hands down! will definitely come back the next time we come to town!

Drove from Winnemucca, NV to Bend, OR today and looked to Yelp for a quick bite. The menu for Southside Pub listed a roast beef French dip, but I've been fooled before. Checked with server Jenn and she said it was the real deal. Ordered a Pilsner and both were good. I ordered a side of fries and they were done just right with a mild seasoning. Nice that this was within walking distance of the hotel.

Stop here for lunch not your avg dive bar but the have a casino slot machines out back pool table and all. Took a while for us to get menus but came blame why, cause the bartender is the host and waitress and bus girl all in one, very nice we ended up getting the Reuben sandwich and chicken and waffle cause they ran out of fish and chips food was ok was looking forward to fish and chips, if anyone reading this let me know how the Fish and Chips are. TIA

Consistently superior 'bar' food. This is a place that somehow manages to find and keep superior cooks. A window to the kitchen let's you see the focus these cooks have in fixing up dang good .. seriously good ... fare. Waitress/bartender was also astonishingly competent and up to the challenge of serving a whole bar and restaurant by herself. This pub does it right. Friendly. Fast. Fun. And awesome drink specials and good food = hello! The place to go!! Kudos.

The bartender let me try two but that was my preference. The pretzel was delicious. I'm not a huge beer cheese fan but it was hot and delicious with the mustard around the outside. We were curious about the cask beer which apparently is warm (or room temperature) and flat- not what you look for normally in a beer! Yay! It was the best veggie burger my husband has had in a long time... he added avocado and vegan cheese (which did make it a bit pricey). Awesome that you can do many different sides including regular fries, Cajun fries, salad, chips, and more options... do wish they had onion rings however. I got the hummus plate which was good but not the best I've had. It came with a baguette which was more like garlic bread so I would have, personally, liked pita more. It also had a few olives on the side with a red pepper type sauce. I got it with no pickled onions. They had a great beer selection and even a few tasty non-alcoholic beers. Also had kombucha on tap which was delicious (from Humm). Everyone working was super sweet and the vibes were relaxed and casual. Our food came out quick and exactly how we ordered it. They also seemed to have spaces for larger parties, too. They also have a little gift shop if you wanted to pick anything from shirts, to bottle openers, to beer candles and more! Would come back again!

It was especially festive during the holidays, with Christmas drink specials adding to the charm. The owners closed up shop downtown and created this new place on 2nd Street in Bend's Central District. It's now called Dogwood at the Pine Shed. Why Yelp won't create a new, distinct page for the Pine Shed is beyond me. That said, the Pine Shed is a fine place for drinks and food truck fare. The open, spacious 'shed' has plenty of varied seating surrounding a nice bar with quite a few tables outside on the patio. Mobility-challenged folks have choices too. For those worried about 2nd Street's reputation for sketchiness, don't be. Revitalization efforts by the city have transformed the area. At times of good weather, with the big doors open, the Pine Shed is quite a nice spot to relax. Cocktails were the raison d'etre for the former incarnation of Dogwood and that emphasis transfers here to the Pine Shed. I particularly like their versions of a margarita but the other cocktails are uniformly good too. The beer tap offerings are not so spectacular, however, with only four (and a cider). On one visit shortly after they opened for business, two beer taps were tapped out, which can be chalked up to growing pains. In any case, the Pine Shed can't be seriously regarded as a tap house in the style of the many others in Bend (On Tap, River's Place, Crosscut, The Lot, The Podski, Midtown Yacht Club, etc.). Come for the cocktails. They do offer low ABV and zero ABV drinks. At present, the food truck choices are abundant and pretty decent. Being trucks/carts, and thus mobile and prone to relocating themselves, I'll not list them here. Best to check the Pine Shed's webpage for current offerings and then go to the relevant Yelp page for reviews. Parking is street only, no parking lot. The city has completed construction on 2nd Street so there are more spots available than before.

Bad news. So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place. In the meantime, I remember how fun and delicious it could be to eat at The Drake.
