I'm not really sure what to say except that this is the definition of an amazing neighborhood bar. My wife and I recently bought a house in the area and had been to Northside a couple times prior because we like that vibe, but now that it was within walking distance of our house we have become regulars. Kane and his staff are amazing, they are all extremely genuine and welcoming whenever we visit Northside, and the bar is exactly what one should want in a neighborhood bar. Drinks aren't fancy but they're reasonably priced, the pour is good and the atmosphere is perfect. If you want a $17 craft cocktail then Northside isn't the place for you, but if you're a tourist in town that wants a good vibe that won't break your bank, or a local who wants to truly feel welcomed and invited in then I would highly recommend stopping in to Northside. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday, we just missed breakfast seems like they get a good breakfast crowd, parking lot was full when we arrived but there were still empty tables. It is NOT clean like it used to be; especially behind the bar area, including the cooking area. The pours are still just as strong, and the food is still good. Went today for late lunch. Terrible customer service. Staff just stood behind bar. We ordered our drink and then waited for someone to take our order. Fun place with a "sports bar" atmosphere. The food came out quick, hot and delicious. The prices were reasonable and the servers were very friendly and efficient. We are volunteer hosts for the Oregon State Parks and eat out frequently wherever we are. This is one place we will remember when we're back in Bend next spring. read more

Despite the appearance from the outside, and our hesitation to go in the first time we came here, we have now been back many times and brought friends. Great burgers, good beer, friendly wait staff and live music ( pre-Covid) have us coming back on a regular basis. I would skip the Rueben and stick to the burgers. Ok- this place isn't fancy. More of a dive bar, slash sports bar with live music almost every day! The food is good bar food! Cheese curds crispy and buttery probably not traditional but delicious. Wings decent sized. All the sandwiches I have had are great! You can't beat the friendliness of the bartender and server, good happy hour prices, decent regular prices. Nice mixed crowd. Friday and Saturday nights there is usually a small cover for the band but everyone seems to have a great time dancing. A little loud at times but maybe that's showing my age. Nice strong drinks and lotto machines in the back. Food special every night (Chicken Parmesan was the bomb!). Music varies, so be sure to check the calendar. I live in the Chicago area. I recently visited my best friend and we again went to the Northside. When we walked in, the bartender Caine saw me, remembered my name, and gave me a hug!!! I'll tell you, the food is really good for being a small bar. The atmosphere is fun and energetic on a Saturday night. However, the reason I am writing this review is to encourage all who read this to do yourself a favor and go to meet Caine. He is simply one of the nicest human beings you will meet. Not only is he a top notch bartender, he is just a good decent person. So many times we get caught up with the everydayness of everyday, we forget to acknowledge people when they go out of their way to make sure you are happy..... I'm not going to let that happen. I may be biased because this place is around the corner from me but it's kind of a hidden gem! Strong drinks, friendly staff and a chill crowd. The dinner specials are pretty bomb, I've never been disappointed! This is a good place to check out the local talent (Big Blue Van, Jones Road and Fun Bobby just to name a few) and watch the dancers, if you're not dancing yourself, and in the summer after being on the river we like to call ahead for food to go and maybe a beer while we wait. I admit I'm a fan of dive-esque type bars...this place rocks!!! It's down the street from Mavericks (where you can learn to line dance, be groped by customers and staff alike, and leave with a huge bar tab and little to show for it - I know. Different review). Northside is tucked in between a bunch of businesses so gets a lot of workers during the day and I've been told a biker crowd at night. That being said, it's not a rough and tumble bar. Bikers, if there, are pretty chill, they don't side eye glare at you if you roll up in a Mom mini van and lack of leather. Food is actually good (remember. Dive bar) and staff is fantastic!! This is hands down the reason I'd return. Remember Cheers?? "I wanna go where they know my name". The staff have all been there for a long time and make it their mission to know who their customers are. It's fun to watch. They know everybody!!! Live music on weekends with a reasonable cover charge, small dance floor, big projectors and TVs for football. Parking sucks (remember tucked in with businesses who don't like it when you take up their limited parking to day drink) however you should Uber anyway cause their drinks are worth it!! Please don't be misled by my three stars.....................the food is five star and reasonably priced. The service is friendly, too. I gave it three stars, just because of the atmosphere. Yes, I know it is a dive bar..................but we went on one of the comedy nights and will definitely not go back when that is happening again. The language was so foul and not appealing for eating. Also, the "jokes" were not funny and he made too many sexual references toward women that were so degrading.
