The venue was small but perfect for the DIY punk/metal bands playing. We were also very impressed at how quickly each band was able setup and breakdown, so no long waits in between bands. It was obvious the organizers knew what they were doing. The venue had a small bar inside so you didn't have to go to the main building to grab a drink. Outside, between the two buildings there were nice seating areas alongside fire pits and access to multiple food trucks. There was even a third stage in the outside area that must be used in warmer weather. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely come back!

One thing to keep in mind is that drink and food orders share the same line, so the wait can get pretty long when it's busy. We ordered the pretzel and nachos, and both were surprisingly good. The pretzel was soft with a nice chewy texture, and the nachos were loaded with toppings. I'd definitely order both again.

Stopped by the Deschutes Brewery Tasting Room for their brewery tour on a weekday! Tour started at…read more4pm, and we were given a choice between four different beers to sip along the way. I opted for the Patagonia Provisions Organic Lager, and it was light and refreshing. Our tour guide was very informative and high energy. You can tell that employees take a lot of pride, especially since they're dubbed co-owners. The tour included a walk through of how beer is made and a peek inside their facilities. I'm not new to beer, so I wasn't sure how much I'd learn; however, my interest was piqued when our tour guide started talking about how sustainable Deschutes' practices are. They even treat their own water! We had some tastes along the way. My only critique is that our tour felt long (~ 2 hours) and there weren't many spots to sit, so be prepared to be on your feet the entire time. My partner and I stopped by the tasting room after - we didn't buy any cans, but enjoyed sampling the latest party bombs on tap. I loved the frozen version too! We left with merch, coupons for their downtown brewpub, and exclusive tour stickers!

So on our last trip to Bend we finally made it here to the their taproom and it didn't disappoint at all. It was a great stop! We got a taster set of a variety of different beers that they had on tap and they were all quite good. Many of them have a wild ale aspect to them which I can appreciate at you don't come across this beer too much on a routine basis. The taproom is cool and I love all of their art specifically where fermentation liquids spilled onto a sheet or a cloth making various designs and hues during the brewing making process of their beers. Other excellent beers that we have had from this brewery are the Samalie which is a Wild Ale. This one I rated very highly on Untappd because it was so amazing! Things to look for in the flavor profile are sourness, tartness, fruitiness, a natural sweetness and a dry finish. Really an excellent beer! Moving on from that we had the great Ping Pong Table Beer. This was another beer I rated quite highly and enjoyed immensely. This beer is light bodies, smooth and effervescent with the flavor of elderflower at work. Another excellent beer! Definitely great beer experiences with this brewery and definitely recommend it to the more adventurous beer drinking folks. There are plenty of breweries to try out in Bend and if you are looking for something on the more unusual side The Ale Apothecary is a great place for such a thing!

Every time we leave we always say, wish they would branch out to Texas(hint, hint). We celebrated one of our puppies birthday during our visit and their pup burger was juicy and so good. We, of course had to get some Brussels sprouts and cheese curds. kiddo had to have one of their juicy burgers, hubby had the wings. No oyster shooters in the menu, so we were kinda sad. Their IPAs never fail and their spiced, no pumpkin Cider was delicious. We sat on the heated patio with our pups. It was awesome to see familiar faces. Wish we could have stayed longer, but there is always a next time. Can't wait to visit again!

They've been making a name for themselves in the region with quality wild fermented beers. These may not be the types enjoyed by all, but some lean more into traditional flavors than truly wild and funky sours. This place is beautiful. They have an artistry in the decor, labels, and artwork that feels like wild nature. It's so cozy inside with bar on entry, plus tables, and cozy living room type seating area in the middle. Their barrels and brewery are to the back. They also have outdoor seating and food trucks. You order from the bar. There was a special event going on during our visit and the single bartender seemed overwhelmed but still tried to keep the line moving. Everyone seemed happy regardless. They don't do flights per se but you can do short pours if you're unsure what you'd like to try. I loved the fireplace too. They have lots of fan selections and great merchandise featuring their unique style, all next to the front door. Restrooms are to the left. If you're a fan of beer, and atypical styles especially, this is a must visit in Bend.

Upon entering I was instantly taken with the taproom as they indeed have that "Funky Fauna" thing going on. In addition to that they had Halloween decorations up which definitely enhanced the decor experience. What is particularly thrilling with the beer menu here is that they have a lot of higher end Saison style ales. There aren't a lot of breweries that get quite this extensive with this type of beverage so I was super excited to taste a few. Nights In White Fur was one Saison that I had and it was so very good! This particular ale had the flavor profile of pine, apricot and some lemon which gave the beer a puckering sour feature in a very pleasant way. It was an enjoyable beer for sure. Another beer that was just as good and also another Saison was the Quiet Tides. This ale had in the flavor profile berries, pine, a sour feature and a clean finish. This is a very smooth beer which was a nice feature while enjoying it as well. There were plenty of other Saisons to try but I stopped with those two but I could easily return to try out more. Steve and I feel that we can easily make Funky Fauna a required stop each time we visit Bend as we enjoyed the beer that much and really got into the vibe and atmosphere. I think I'd like to start a one-man campaign against RPM, which is served everywhere in town and is at best a middling beer for tourists, and other people that don't really know what great beer is. If boneyard discounts it so heavily that everybody is willing to carry it, you could at least dumb it down to Rainier costs for the consumer, instead of taking up a tap position at every brewhouse in town while charging full price.
