We love going to Crux whenever we visit Bend (which is at 3 times a year). It's a great place to meet up with friends and for all the kids to play/hangout. There is live music a lot of times. I enjoy choosing my own beer sampler. The kids have plenty of options for food. Highly recommend!

Great local brewery. Inside or out seating. Food trucks and fabulous beers. Very laid back atmosphere

One of my favorite breweries to stop at in Bend! Great beer options and also have good food. Service was good and staff were friendly. Very spacious indoor space, they even had a market going on on Sunday when we went. There is also great outdoor seating available. A couple of food carts available as options. I had the project nachos, Italian sandwich (hot) and tried the whipped feta. It was all super good.

Went here for a beer, and it is the cutest outdoor spot to hang out with family, friends, or just your pup! There are tons of benches and they have food trucks too if you are hungry! Definitely would go back!

Besides gorgeous mountain views, Bend has a ton of amazing beer. My first visit here I missed quite a few of the favorites, and since trying a few canned selections from Crux and hearing people say it was their favorite, I made an effort to make it the first stop. Just off the highway and close to downtown, Crux Fermentation Project has a stellar reputation for great beer. They have a lot of dedicated parking in an area that doesn't seem to have much else. We visited on a holiday so it was extra busy, but the bartenders and servers were so fast and efficient it didn't matter. They have a large outdoor area with tables and fire pits, plus indoor tables. The main bar area snakes through the merchandise section, with multiple menus above the cashiers. You can order food and drinks here. They also have a dedicated side ordering area just for drinks that it seemed like more people were using. A few friends ate various foods and everyone loved what they had. I had two flights of different beers, trying some new ones and ones I've already had but fresh on tap. Their beer is excellent. The brewing facility is large and beautiful, be sure to check out the back areas. Thank you to the bartender for doing a sticker swap; this is a must visit for any beer fan visiting the area.

My SO is huge on beer and breweries so when we came here, he got a delicious flight and an even better 6 pack of nonalcoholic beer to go ~ I love the creativity of the flight stands too. Easily one of our favorite breweries in Bend.

Beer. All good

This restaurant space is huge, especially outside with the fire pits and the food carts. We sat at the bar. Service was fantastic. We did a tasting flight with additional tasters. We didn't have one bad beer. All were good. Got the pretzel and the cheese sauce was zingy and good. Overall nice experience.

To me, Crux is perfection. There's nothing like driving or ubering along the backroads that deliver you under the highway, before passing the "no outlet" sign that turns you immediately into the Crux parking areas. Then, finally, beer lovers can rejoice that they made it. You'll enter through the main doorway just in front of the smaller front parking lot and then turn left to begin your stay with the bartenders manning the first large pouring area. I had been here once prior, so it was a joy to return in winter. We made our way through the line and were helped by two servers who designed our flights for us. We were impressed with the metal work inside, and then the flight holder was presented, we were glad to see such an interesting metal design there, too. I cannot recall exactly what I ordered, which is a good thing. I LOVED the unique cherry blossom beer and was bummed to learn that it was not available in cans since it was a special release. If you dine here and they still have it, buy some to drink! You will not regret it! We chose to sit outside by the lively firepit and were lucky to get a bench that would fit our flights and our bums. This is a very social area, so come with energy and the desire for small talk. We were grateful to learn a few impressive things to do in Bend from locals, so thank you to everyone who we spent time with! We especially loved our dog friends, Autumn and her sister! We understand the tacos at the on-site food cart are great, too.

Crux Stout (nitro) and a flight of 4 tasters

We were spending the night in Bend and decided to try Crux Fermentation Project for dinner and a couple brews. We chose them because their menu looked more interesting. I had the Italian Sandwich and my wife had the Turkey, both served with kettle chips and a pickle spear. They were both very good in both size and taste. Being our first visit we tried a flight of four tasters. Each beer was good and had different notes, they seem to be brewing a nice range of beer and not leaning into the IPA things too much. We liked the Mexican style with lime and the rice one. I also had a nitro stout. The building is fun with both interior and exterior places to sit. In addition to their kitchen at least one food truck was operating on site. They are also dog friendly, which is always a plus.

Crux Rose on a sunny day!

Love hanging at this location, preferable outside by the fire pit. Good food but wish there were more options, however the food trucks outside help broaden the menu options. Love the Crux swag and rose wine option as well. All their employees are super chill and friendly and add to us loving to stop by. Mondays have family games as well you can play at your table. My favorite first stop when we visit in Bend. Hand down.

Great service, merchandise, and beer. The environment was pleasant too. If we lived in the area, we would surely go back.

Ask the Community - Crux Fermentation Project

Hi! Is there Wi-Fi here?

Yup

Does this location take reservations for large groups of 7-8 people?

We don't take reservations but our space is large enough to accommodate most groups and on nice days, the long tables in the back are usually available. We hope to see you soon. Cheers!

I had to come to the original Deschutes!…read more Came in on a Saturday midday for a beer and snack. Easily sat at the bar. Cool vibe to the original brewery! Enjoyed the Fresh Haze IPA. The bartender let me try two but that was my preference. The pretzel was delicious. I'm not a huge beer cheese fan but it was hot and delicious with the mustard around the outside. We were curious about the cask beer which apparently is warm (or room temperature) and flat- not what you look for normally in a beer! The nice bartender let us try it just out of curiosity- not for me! I'd come back to try lunch or dinner.

These days it's getting harder to find a veggie burger that isn't full of chemicals and trying to…read moresimulate "meat"; so we were thrilled when we came across Deschutes that had a veggie burger that was made from jackfruit and pinto beans! Yay! It was the best veggie burger my husband has had in a long time... he added avocado and vegan cheese (which did make it a bit pricey). Awesome that you can do many different sides including regular fries, Cajun fries, salad, chips, and more options... do wish they had onion rings however. I got the hummus plate which was good but not the best I've had. It came with a baguette which was more like garlic bread so I would have, personally, liked pita more. It also had a few olives on the side with a red pepper type sauce. I got it with no pickled onions. They had a great beer selection and even a few tasty non-alcoholic beers. Also had kombucha on tap which was delicious (from Humm). Everyone working was super sweet and the vibes were relaxed and casual. Our food came out quick and exactly how we ordered it. They also seemed to have spaces for larger parties, too. They also have a little gift shop if you wanted to pick anything from shirts, to bottle openers, to beer candles and more! Would come back again!

UPP Liquids - Pathetic :(

As I write this review I see that it is coming up as an updated review as opposed to a new one…read more Back in 2017 for this entry this review was for Immersion Brewing but now my update is for UPP Liquids. I am not sure if it was a name change this brewery went through or but I suspect so. Because if this was a brand new brewery I imagine it would have it's own Yelp entry. But who can say for sure... maybe it was transitional activity that reached to what my review currently pertains to which is UPP Liquids. This is still a brewery and it's a good one. So I am bumping up a star here as I really enjoyed the beer I had by UPP Liquids. The name of the beer was called Pinball Wizard which is an Oatmeal Stout. I do like these kinds of stouts very much as I like the oatmeal that is at play here and what it contributes to the flavor profile. For Pinball izard flavor features in this beer is roastiness, maltiness, a hint of smokiness and a coffee flavor. This hit the spot in every way and it was a joy to drink. Even though these beers are great to have on cold, rainy day the day we had it was a bit more pleasant and still. But despite that it didn't ruin the atmosphere as to when to have this beer at all. It was such an enjoyable beer I rated it quite highly on Untappd which is my beer rater app for each individual beer that I try. So yes, trying out UPP for the first time was quite a positive impression.

Not sure which was the worst ~ service or food. Lady beertender was not friendly, short in interaction, not happy to serve. She needs retraining or let go. Food was not good at all. Actually needed to send back a dish, which made the apathetic server that much more unfriendly. Very disappointing experience for a supposedly recognized brewery.
