These days it's getting harder to find a veggie burger that isn't full of chemicals and trying to simulate "meat"; so we were thrilled when we came across Deschutes that had a veggie burger that was made from jackfruit and pinto beans! Yay! It was the best veggie burger my husband has had in a long time... he added avocado and vegan cheese (which did make it a bit pricey). Awesome that you can do many different sides including regular fries, Cajun fries, salad, chips, and more options... do wish they had onion rings however. I got the hummus plate which was good but not the best I've had. It came with a baguette which was more like garlic bread so I would have, personally, liked pita more. It also had a few olives on the side with a red pepper type sauce. I got it with no pickled onions. They had a great beer selection and even a few tasty non-alcoholic beers. The Nashville chicken should be on a cafeteria menu. They use chicken breasts and pound them so thin that it might as well be just the breading. If you are charging $20+ for a chicken sandwich it better be good. This was by far the biggest waste of money in the restaurant. If you are coming here for drinks and a snack. That's perfect. Started off great, ended kind of iffy. Trying to give it a fair shake as one issue shouldn't define the place. My elk burger was awesome, i enjoyed my beer, the salmon chowder soup was delicious. My children enjoyed their food. My wife had bbq mac and cheese that was ungodly spicy. Turned out they include jalapeños... no description, so who knew?? Deschutes Brewing was a wonderful surprise! It's a busy place but the service was great. Everyone was so friendly and our food and drinks didn't take long. The Brussel sprouts were shocking good and the expensive pretzel was also a hit. I really enjoyed my smash burger. The only thing that I was less impressed with was the chips that come with the burger, kind of flavorless. The bartender let me try two but that was my preference. The pretzel was delicious. I'm not a huge beer cheese fan but it was hot and delicious with the mustard around the outside. We were curious about the cask beer which apparently is warm (or room temperature) and flat- not what you look for normally in a beer! One of the worst hamburgers I've had in my life. Flavorless. How hard is it to make a good bacon cheeseburger? Even the bacon could not save it as the bacon wasn't crispy but was a hard flavorless slab. To be fair, the onions and tomatoes were nice and fresh and the pickles were good. The fries sauce was very good. But the fries themselves were a bit hard. That may be the way the way they are supposed to be? They did come out piping hot. Not a complete fail but I wouldn't order again. The best item was the onion soup. It was flavorful and the chives on top added a nice pop of flavor. I did not like that their menu wasn't posted. You have to go inside and ask to see a menu. I dislike when restaurants don't post menus as it's arrogant. Our server was very good. Love Deschutes beer and have been long time fan of their beers for decades. First time going to the Bend location. Very cool spot and the place is great. Live in AZ for the last 9 years so only a limited Deschutes beers are available. They had the Black Butte special edition on tap (one of my favorites) and also tried the Obsidian nitro Stout. Wife and I shared a Bavarian pretzel and also a burger and fries. Added the smashed avocado to our burger. The cheese that comes with the pretzel is amazing and our burger was also delicious. On a Sunday, this was one of the few places that were open past 8pm. Small town in the Pacific Northwest problems, definitely. We shared a 3 piece fish and chips and I got the reserve flight which featured 3x 4oz pours of the fancier beers - cherries jubelale which had a nice cherry flavor, Black Butte XXXVII Imperial Porter which had a very great chocolate flavor, and Abyss 2018 vintage which was a strong wine-like beer. They allowed me to sample, free of charge, the calamansi sour just to see what it is without committing to lots of alcohol, which I appreciated. The fish and chips were very delicious, a nice surprise since brewery food typically is greasy and low quality. The fish here is nicely battered and very crispy, while the fries were of good texture and the tartar sauce complemented both well. The cole slaw was decent and overall the 3 pieces of fish and chips made for a satisfying meal for 2 people. Was passing through the area getting a tent installed on my truck and decided to go grab some burgers and brews while the truck was under the knife. This was a super cool way to experience my first meal ever in Oregon, ordered a couple beers that were fantastic, split an elk burger with my wife *KILLER* and munched on some Salt & Vinegar fries. This was my first time at Dechutes Brewery. We stopped in for dinner. My boyfriend was wanting fish and chips. We were greeted upon entry and seated by the hostess promptly. Our server came over and asked us about drinks. While in a brewery I felt the need to try one of their offerings, though I do not like beer, I tried their cider. The cider is more of a dry and tart cider than others I've had before. I also tried their boneyard elixir which is a CBD drink thst is more like a bubbly water with CBD in it. We got appetizers and the Mirror Pond Artichoke Cheese Dip was incredible. 11/10 - one of the best artichoke dips i have ever had. The pretzel was cooked to perfection and the beer cheese was great. For our mains my boyfriend got the fish and chips - to die for, I wish I would have gotten that as well. I got the Black Butte Porter Sausage Sandwich - while the sausage and the bun where incredible I think I would have liked it better without the arugula and cheese sauce. The food was great, but we were stuffed and couldn't finish all of our dinner. The restaurant is large and had trivia going on upstairs while we were there, the dining room we were sat in was decorated as an indoor beer garden, lots of string lights and plants. Probably the best brewery in Bend. The building is large and comforting in a way, even has a beautiful upstairs. It can get loud when busy but there is lots of room. The service is always helpful, friendly, and attentive. The food is delicious too, there are so many good options. Dined here a couple of weeks ago with my sister. I'd been travelling internationally for a couple of months and had a desperate craving for a good ol' 'Murican burger. She suggested Deschutes Brewery / Pub House and we put it into the GPS. That wasn't a smart move... A few minutes later we were circling the parking lot of the brewery, proper; not the "Pub House." (Pro Tip: Check your GPS entry carefully!) Re-programming the GPS, and in a jiffy we were in the right place. We knew because we'd been warned that the on-street parking could be an issue and the on-street parking *was* an issue. We found a place to park a handful of blocks away and -- fortunately -- the weather was perfect for a stroll. So... the good: The food was average or above. The staff was cheerful and helpful, but never overbearing... The cleanliness was up to standard, and overall it was a great atmosphere. The less-than-perfect: 1) I'm allergic to beer (I know!) and was told Deschutes Pub House offers a "selection" of ciders. Not the case: They had exactly one cider on offer. (In its defense, it was a pretty good cider.) 2) The prices seemed very much out of line with expectations. She and I had a cider each; I had a burger, she had a salad. And it was north of $70 to get out the door. That seems like a lot for a quick lunch. If the prices were more reasonable I'd probably be back; there's a lot to recommend the place. read more

While in Bend for the weekend visiting and going to a concert, my husband and I came to Deschutes brewery before the show for a quick bite to eat. Our server was very kind and attentive, and made sure that we had everything we needed in a timely manner. We decided to start with the pretzel to share, and for my meal I ordered the beet salad while my husband ordered the fish and chips. The pretzel was delicious and came out piping hot. The mustard cheese dipping sauce was unique and added great flavor. The beet salad was large and actually quite filling. The dressing was perfectly tangy, and it was probably one of the better beet salads I've ever had. My husband was a little underwhelmed by the fish and chips, given that the fish appeared to be more like fish-sticks than traditional breaded pieces of halibut or cod. All in all, it was a good meal with some good beers before heading to the amphitheater for our show. read more

Had several hours to kill before my flight home so I figured I'd spend it trying beers at Deschutes! This place is massive, likely able to seat upwards of 200-300. But this Monday afternoon the crowd was mostly regulars, which brought me back to reality a bit. While Bend is a tourist destination, it's still small town! The waitress took amazing care of me despite my numerous tasters and small orders. I eventually ordered some food, including their mirror pond cheesy artichoke dip and the gouda bacon sausage on the side. Delicious! I had the Smashburger, which you would figure they couldn't mess up, but they did. It was terrible. The meat was subpar, the tomatoes were green and tasteless. I figure if they charge that much for a burger, it should be decent or better than Burger King but it wasn't. You'd figure they couldn't screw up a burger, but they did. You also figured they wouldn't screw up the chicken wings, but they screwed those up too. On the plus side, the service was good. Our server was personable and efficient and the beer was good. Bend, Oregon I liked this place. They have an outdoor and indoor seating. They even have an upstairs with some games for entertaining. The wait staff is kind. Knowledgeable on the menu. They are all laid-back as is the environment. It is a very clean restaurant. I ordered the Nashville, hot chicken sandwich and it came with chips. The sandwich had great flavor. The breading had a very strong taste of cinnamon. My only complaint is the chicken was so thin. I had to take three or four bites to realize there was even any chicken in the sandwich. It was loaded with coleslaw. That was absolutely delicious and it came on a brioche bun. The chips are homemade, crispy and flavorful. My husband had a salad with chicken chicken added on. Their dressings are homemade and very good. This place is great place to hang out with friends or grab a quality inexpensive meal. I'm giving it only four stars because the chicken truly was missing from my Nashville chicken sandwich. But I would give it five stars for the draft, beer, chips, and environment. read more

The rub had some flavor, no spice. The blue burger was fine. The chips were good. The pizza crust was burnt. That was a huge bummer. We visited Deschutes Brewery for the second time and had another great experience! The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the service was great! We ordered the Sweet Heat Pizza, Honey Dijon Chicken Sandwich, Hummus Mezze Platter, and BBP Sausage Sandwich. Everything was delicious! I would especially recommend the Sweet Heat Pizza as we were both impressed by the delicious flavor! We were a little surprised by the sausage sandwich as we expected something a little different than what was served. It felt more like a dressed up hot dog than an entree item, but it still tasted good! We ordered a beer flight to try a variety of their beer options and enjoyed all of them.
