You'd think visiting the same mountain town year after year would mean running out of new breweries, well that's wrong! UPP Liquids and is owned and run by an epic list of brewers and beer people that got their starts at other places nearby. In their first year open, they've already been making a name for themselves with beers winning medals and the brewery itself being chosen as one of the best in the USA. It's located in Bend, near the highway and many other restaurants and shops, perfect to add to a walk. It's the former spot of another brewery and has a similar feel with some changes. They have an event space with its own bar, and a pinball machine collection. They have bar, table, and outdoor seating too. The bartenders were funny and very welcoming. The beer is excellent and worth stopping for a few flights or pints. They also have an incredible deal for full pours on certain days. Prices super reasonable for the quality. If you're a beer fan, I highly recommend this brewery. read more

Wanted to love this place and with them being brewery of the year, the expectations were high. First off, it doesn't feel good when people arrive after us get served beer before us. The service was so disorganized and it wasn't overly busy. Second, the beer was just okay. Not bad but not great and it didn't make me want to order another. read more

First. The beer was good. Drank a lot and each pint was delish. Their Russian Imperial was a great finish. Inside was quaint & decent decor, quiet vibe. Not sure which was the worst ~ service or food. Lady beertender was not friendly, short in interaction, not happy to serve. She needs retraining or let go. Food was not good at all. Actually needed to send back a dish, which made the apathetic server that much more unfriendly. Very disappointing experience for a supposedly recognized brewery. read more

Fun place . Great beer and food along with a cool vibe . We sat outside on the patio but inside there's all kinds of options. Pool and pinball machines inside and a full bar to sit at . We were not terribly hungry, just went for the beer , but couldn't resist the pretzel which comes with a sauce with a naughty kick . Really good but the beer was the main attraction! We were in Bend for work and decided to stop in on a Sunday night. UPP's staff was wonderful (even though they mentioned being short handed). No wait for a table but pretty long wait to have order taken. We were told they were short staffed, which is understandable. Server was super nice. We were there for burger week. We wanted pics of our burgers so I picked it up and juice shot out of it all over me and the table and chair... which is fine, but then we discovered we were never given napkins! Not only did we not get them, but we couldn't find them anywhere either. Due to the short staffing issue, the person we found was too busy to help us. When someone finally did come, we got one napkin per person. Which is crazy when you know your burger is that juicy. Every bite I had to wipe my face again and I used every square inch of that napkin and left feeling sticky and dirty. I know napkins cost money but there's got to be a better way. The burger was good though. The meat was cooked and seasoned well. I liked the balsamic grilled onions and Gouda was a good choice for the cheese. read more

UPP Liquids - Weekday Lunch Review This is a review of UPP Liquids, in the space that formerly housed Immersion Brewing. This visit was for a weekday lunch, and this review is based only on the food experience. The staff was very friendly, professional, and polite. The space was clean but also very sparse. Aside from the pinball machines, it has an empty feel and there is little done to give the décor any specific ambiance. They offer table service and the staff was quick to take the order. The food arrived in the right amount of time, there were check-ins to make sure all was well, and the wrap-up was well timed. I ordered the Fish and Chips. The fish portion was relatively small. The fish was tasty with a nice crunch and the breading held nicely. The fries were good but nothing special. Overall it was an average meal. If not for the price tag, that would have been fine. It was filling, but at twenty-two dollars I expected more in both quantity and quality. My friend ordered the Southwest Salad. What I noticed was a lot of greens, and for eighteen dollars I would have expected more than that. Luckily my friend picked up the tab. Thanks Julie. There was nothing in particular that stood out about UPP as a lunch destination. The friendly staff was the most positive aspect. As I write this review I see that it is coming up as an updated review as opposed to a new one. Back in 2017 for this entry this review was for Immersion Brewing but now my update is for UPP Liquids. I am not sure if it was a name change this brewery went through or but I suspect so. Because if this was a brand new brewery I imagine it would have it's own Yelp entry. But who can say for sure... maybe it was transitional activity that reached to what my review currently pertains to which is UPP Liquids. This is still a brewery and it's a good one. So I am bumping up a star here as I really enjoyed the beer I had by UPP Liquids. The name of the beer was called Pinball Wizard which is an Oatmeal Stout. I do like these kinds of stouts very much as I like the oatmeal that is at play here and what it contributes to the flavor profile. For Pinball izard flavor features in this beer is roastiness, maltiness, a hint of smokiness and a coffee flavor. This hit the spot in every way and it was a joy to drink. Even though these beers are great to have on cold, rainy day the day we had it was a bit more pleasant and still. But despite that it didn't ruin the atmosphere as to when to have this beer at all. It was such an enjoyable beer I rated it quite highly on Untappd which is my beer rater app for each individual beer that I try. So yes, trying out UPP for the first time was quite a positive impression. read more

Omg. I love this place so much. Discovered it after reading that they want a bunch of awards online. Adam was our host and made the experience so special. Friendly, enthusiastic about the beers and extremely knowledgeable. I am a beer maker and he went into great detail to explain how everything was made and told us about the new beer making crew. He made us fans for life! We immediately went across the street to buy cans of their sour beer with ginger. What an incredible beer. I Can't wait to go back!!!! read more

The service was on point and the beers were all really good. It's nice that they can do subtle beers with differing tastes versus over hopping everything or pumping out a bunch of muted stuff. The imp Stout would be really really good if they did a barrel aged version. We didnt try the food though as it didn't strike our fancy at the time. The space is nice with good amount of seating and some pinball in the back. read more

This is a review for the Barrel Room space and catering. We recently worked with UPP (then 'The Barrel Room') for our rehearsal dinner. We had the UPP catered BBQ buffet dinner with appetizers: Bread + yummy dip Bacon wrapped small potatos Lovely Salad Corn Cornbread w/Jalapeno BBQ Brisket BBQ Chix Thighs on bed of corn (I love corn, nice surprise) We were given choice of how to handle drinks/alcohol, I opted to provide each quest two 'tokens' that allowed them 2 drinks of choice. The food was terrific. Maybe the chix was a teensy bit overcooked, but everyone enjoyed it. The setup was tasteful and well done with white linens, place settings. Our hosts, Tempest and Emily, were amazing. Able to cheerfully help with requests. Guests raved about the wine/beer selection. They had a nice selection of NA too (I enjoyed the Kombuchas). And OMIGOD the dessert, chocolate torte and cheesecake. Again, OMG. So good. They even had a wireless microphone for announcements/speeches. At the end we were able to box up the leftovers Pricing super reasonable, I'd highly recommend. read more

Good beer selection, our server was great.. the place has a nice vibe. The cracks emerge when you order food. Clearly, the kitchen staff (manager) have no business working in food service. My cob salad was a plate of lettuce with some old brown avocado goo and some sugar coated nuts and a hard boiled egg - it was horrible. The chicken sandwich was way overcooked and appeared that it had been cooked hours before serving. My wife's southwest salad was equally horrific.. we will probably go back for some beers and entertainment ..,, after we've eaten somewhere else. The server knew that the kitchen let her down - it's too bad because she was doing a great job... she went back to the kitchen to get some salad fixings (avocado, corn, beans...) for us to try to make up for the kitchen shortcomings..but by then the damage was done. read more

The food arrived promptly, perfectly hot, and smelled absolutely divine. Our server was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was lively and cheerful, with lots of playful artwork adorning the walls. My family really enjoyed their pizza and salad. Only recommendation is to order salad dressing on the side. Mid-day, mid-week lunch at Immersion. Very quiet then, so an excellent place to have a beer over a meeting, etc. Atmosphere is very good. In addition to the main room, there is a rentable keg room space for groups, parties. Service excellent. Food good, but not outstanding or notable. I had a chicken/bacon wrap that was certainly good value for the price. It was sort of 'chopped salad' in texture, which made it seem and taste like a bacon-flavored hash; not much chicken flavor. Pro tip - live rock band sing-a-longs Monday evenings in the keg room. And don't miss the plumbing in the men's room - unique and very impressive sink design! read more

Feb 17, 2025 2PM for drinks. We came to sample the drinks. Immersion has a wide variety of options from session style.4% through your standard Pilsner logger IPA West IPA, hazy IPA, and all the way up to barrel stouts. We had a sampler of IPAs and darks and everything was delicious. Service was great The bar area had probably five tables seated so not super busy, but the bartender was very friendly, very efficient and had great insights on what to try. The area itself was cavernous with high ceilings and lots of tables for both intimate dining as well as large parties. Overall, this was a nice experience and reasonably priced so we will be back. read more

That was such a good burger! Definitely one of the best I've had. My husband and I came here for lunch after a long hike. It seems every time we go on a good hike, a burger sounds good afterwards. We both ordered the Tillamook burger. The meat was so juicy and flavorful that I really don't have more to say than it was just a really good burger. Oh and the blood orange margaritas were delicious too. ;-) I highly recommend this place. read more

Slow service. Rude server. Wouldn't allow the promo burger with no cheese for dietary reasons, citing "no substitutions" (?) even though in a promo video someone had a lettuce wrap version. Waitress was very rude and snarky. Asked bartender, then they kept talking and still didn't help. We left and won't be going back. read more

We were only in Bend for one day, but happened upon this excellent local brewery by chance after hiking along the Deschutes River. They served great beers and a really affordable price. We found Immersion by searching for kids' chicken and it didn't disappoint! The chicken strips were a huge hit with our kid and the atmosphere is kid friendly with a pet friendly patio. I got the gastropub burger which was good on its own but was even better when I added some Gorgonzola from my wife's beet salad. She enjoyed a few of Immersion's specialty margaritas and I had a couple of their vanilla stouts. Service was top-tier: when my wife decided she didn't like the taste of a drink she ordered they replaced it at no charge! read more

Came in for a quick snack and to Tate some beer. Beer was good but the street corn fritters is where it is at! My fiancé said it is by far one of the best appetizers he has ever had, and that a lot coming from him! We sat at the bar and had quick service, despite the bartender helping out tables and running dishes to the back. Overall great ambiance and design. read more

5 stars on the food, drink, and service: Extremely good "Queso" appetizer which was very hearty with lots of queso and lots of good tasting tortilla chips. Super tasty burgers cooked to a perfect medium-rare per request, some really good brews, and an excellent server. - The patio seating was a little uncomfortable (the benches attached to our table were somewhat warped in the middle) - the view from the patio seating is of a parking lot. Some might knock it down a star for those last two items, but everything else was so good that I am keeping it at five stars. :) read more

By the time we were heading out, the bike rack was completely full, which says a lot in Bend!

Good news…read more Bad news first is this: The Drake has been sold to new owners and TONIGHT, APRIL 12, WILL BE THE LAST DAY OF SERVICE at The Drake with the original owner and the current menu. So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place. In the meantime, I remember how fun and delicious it could be to eat at The Drake.
