Lunch was good and our beer and cider tasted great. We brought our dog to their shady patio where they had water bowls for the pups. Ours joined four others there. Off-season made it easy to get a table right away, unlike the summer crowds. Worth a visit for decent food and a relaxed vibe. read more

A great place to grab lunch in Sunriver. Elk chili is amazing when available in the winter season! I don't drink, so I can't personally comment on the quality of beer or alcohol content. I've seen some awards on the wall for their beer, and most patrons do partake. Anyone that has joined me dining here has always enjoyed their meals too. Service is hit or miss. Some servers are fantastic and check in on their tables frequently, others you get your food and never see them again until the check is dropped. (That's why it's a 4 star rating, not a 5) Ambiance is that of a typical brewery, it's casual, and loud. This isn't somewhere you want to come for a casual business meeting or serious conversations. You won't be able to hear one another, yes it's that loud. Nonetheless, it's a family friendly dining experience. They have a cool little kids play area inside the dining area, to keep little ones entertained with toys and a make believe kitchen. We rolled in on a recommendation, which always feels a little like being set up on a blind date. "Trust me," they said. And you know what? The place is nice. Real nice. Warm wood, good vibe, the kind of atmosphere that makes you sit up straighter and pretend you know something about hops. Service? Solid. Friendly. Attentive. Nobody disappeared into the back never to be seen again. Always a plus. My wife ordered a Brew house salad with chicken that she described as "very yummy," which in wife-language translates to: I would order this again and tell my friends about it. That's high praise. Meanwhile, I ventured into quinoa territory. Now I'm pretty sure it was meant to be cold... but it hit the table so chilled I thought it had just come back from skiing Bachelor. A little heat on that bad boy and we might've been in business. Then there was the mac and cheese. Ah yes. The mac. It had that bold, burnt-garlic-on-top energy. A little crispy crown of cheese, which I respect. But underneath? Not much going on. It was like opening a treasure chest and finding a polite suggestion of treasure. Not very juicy. A bit of a macaroni mirage. So here we are: good service, nice setting, one winning salad, one confused quinoa, and a mac that tried its best. Sunriver Brewing company is about 2 minutes from were we were, and decided to do take out. I had the mushroom & cheese pizza which was very good and tasty with lots of mushrooms. My wife ordered the fish & chips, but said the French fries were very salty and had to put it in a colander to shake off the salt. She said the fish was okay, but she didn't finish the French fries and the fish, but said the tartar sauce was good and tasty and Chucky. This is a follow up review. A few months ago I wrote a review about the nachos and I didn't recommend them. The restaurant responded by asking me to come back, they sent me a $50 gift card. How is that for standing behind what you are cooking? Yesterday I returned and the nachos had been taken off the menu so we ordered the yummy wings, naked with the buffalo and ranch sauce on the side. We also had the pimento cheese dip and a Ruben sandwich with fries. We sat outside on the patio. The service was excellent! All the food we ordered I recommend, everything was delicious! I liked this place. Haas the Elk meatloaf. How many places can you say that serves that? It had caramelized onions wrapped in bacon drenched in bbq sauce. I could gone for lighter sauce but it was good. Family also had the kid sliders and fancy grilled cheese with a creamy tomato soup. Little too acidic for me but kid liked it. They were unfortunately out of the one beer I was most excited to try (Shred Head Winter Ale). Bummer but it happens. What's more surprising is they were also out of pickles for the fried pickle appetizer. We were told it had been a "busy day," yet it was only lunchtime. Considering the shelf life of pickles it seems like that's one ingredient you should never run out of. In any case, two relatively minor inconveniences. And the food we actually got was really good. Turkey Melt - delicious. Nashville Hot Chicken - delicious. Where this place ultimately lost stars was with the service. Our server was timely enough taking our order but after we got our food he didn't come back to check on us until everything was gone and we'd grown tired of waiting to order another round of drinks. It appeared to be an average lunch service; the place was full but with little to no wait to get seated. There also appeared to be plenty of staff on duty so I'm not sure what the issue was but had he been more attentive we likely would've ordered more and he'd have found himself with a higher tip associated with a bigger bill. All in all, not a deal breaker. The food was good enough to bring me back and hopefully they were just having an off day with the service. Guess we'll have to wait and see. read more

Went last night for dinner after being out of state for a year. Traditionally one of our favorite watering holes it was a bit off last night. I ordered a Viscious and it was a bit flat...maybe the end of the keg? First time I left a brew pub after one beer that I can ever remember. For food we settled on the brewers salad which was absolutely amazing. A bit heavily dressed but served with more toppings than lettuce!! I followed it up with the elk chili which was like warm but delicious. I typically would have sent it back and asked to be heated up but the patrons had been joyously served and were a little too talkative and loud. We just wanted to eat and get out of there. Very much like most breweries you see in the tea but good food. We sat in the fuzzy tail lounge and later realized we could have sat outside in the warm spring sun. Bar. High tops. Tables. Plenty of room for groups and families. Waiter was awesome, very attentive and friendly. Brought our drinks and food quickly. We had buffalo wings, although I like them a bit more crispy, these were fine with a house blue cheese. We split the bacon burger and it came on split plates which was nice. Not expected but I love that he took time to anticipate that. The fries were seasoned and they had a fry sauce too. Yum! Beer was fuzz tail hefi which was good. Oh man! This place is just wonderful! I tend to visit Sunriver often and always make it a point to stop here. My most recent waiter was Chance and he was great! Super nice and friendly. I am recently gluten free and I wasn't sure how well I would be able to do with that on this trip. (After having some pretty terrible gluten free buns I was running scared) but this place did NOT disappoint! I split the hit honey chicken sandwich with a gluten free buns and it was utter perfection. The chicken was crispy and crunchy and didn't have any yucky bits. And the hot honey glaze was just....ugh so yummy and flavorful. And this gluten free buns was....top two gluten free buns for me I've ever had out. It didn't fall apart, actually tasted like bread, and was toasted! (Why do restaurants never think to toast gluten free buns?!) I also tried their cranberry blue cheese bacon salad and it was scrumptious! Being not a fan of blue cheese I ordered feta and it was the perfect switch in my book. Perfect mingle of flavors and textures. The dressing was also amazing. Not too thick and not too runny and had a perfect zing! Will be back again! read more

Whenever I visit Bend (and that is yearly) I stop by SunRiver brewing. But, it has always been the Galveston location. I have wanted to stop by the SunRiver location for years and finally got my chance. The place was crowded when I arrived, but seeing as I was dining alone, was able to skip the line and get seated immediately. My server was attentive and friendly, and quickly took my order (pulled pork sandwich and a delayed beer). The food showed up after a reasonable wait and the beer followed without needing to remind. Everything looked good and tasted even better. I've glad I checked this box, and will continue to make SR a stop on my annual pilgrimage...but to the Galveston location (since it is right there in Bend). read more

Mistakingly thinking I could avoid the extreme valley heat, I rode over the Cascades to the resort community (and tourist trap) of Sunriver to eat at the very popular Sunriver Brewing Co. The mac with five cheeses was very good, though a large portion served sizzling hot. Their Italian pils beer was very good and one of the few beers that was under 6% alcohol. Tomato bisque soup, huge cup but not even a quarter full and you might want to put the croutons in the bag instead of letting them get soggy in the soup, (that I also had to heat up). My family member had fish and chips that had no flavor, like watered down and soggy. Poorly cooked. Fries have no seasoning at all and nothing provided in the bag as far as condiments, plastic ware, no napkins, no seasonings, not even salt and pepper. I offered to give half of my sandwich to my family member bc the fish was unpalatable. Yeah, guess you could say we are picky, but it seems like common sense on how to treat a takeout customer. There was so much steam in the box it left tons of water in the box. It seems like they microwaved everything and the hostess couldn't be bothered to check on quality. The black haired female hostess who "helped" us did not offer anything as far as any of the above. People are desperate if they think the food is worth the price.
