Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich - GF bun
    Deena J.

Delicious cocktails and filling food! Both our tastebuds greeted the Blueberry Lavender flavor in this day, one being a version of the Lemon Drop & the other of the Mule. Both scrumptious with perfect proportions of flavors. We both got a chicken sandwich: Chicken Bacon Ranch and the Hot Chick. We both wished there was more aioli/sauce on the chicken. The fries looked like a small portion yet it was the perfect amount of food by the end. *outdoor seating *gluten free options *signiture cocktails *deals everyday

The service and food was amazing. We had our dogs and sat outside, which was perfect. The other customers were nice as well. The fries were thin steak fries, I highly recommend them.

    Not quite fries

We've been going here for years for the burgers and fries. The fries alone were worth the trip. I'm not sure if this place got bought out or new management took over, but the entire menu changed for the worse. Want a burger? It'll be a smash burger. No option for a normal patty. Nowhere on the menu does it say that all of their burgers are smash patties, but that's what I was told. The special for the evening was "a smash burger with fries and two beers" which seems redundant, as *all* of the burgers are smash patties. Want a plain Jane cheeseburger cooked medium rare? Move along, not an option. Now the super sad part: the fries. Their once glorious fries (that used to be included with burgers) are now a $4 EXTRA, as all menu items are now a la carte (?!). The worst part: they changed the fries to something...else. Google image search what fries look like. That is precisely *not* what you'll be getting. For that extra $4 you'll be getting about 3/4 of a potato sliced THIN and fried crispy. These are just thick potato chips, and they definitely don't give you a surplus of them. Pictured is the full amount that came on my tray. Whatever happened to this place needs to unhappen. Sadly, knowing what Initiative used to offer, we won't be returning. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the waitstaff is friendly and attentive.

I had the bang bang shrimp bowl and it was delicious. Excellent service, nice brew pub atmosphere with an outdoor patio area. I would definitely come back again.

Visiting family and wanted a family friendly bar with tables and high chairs for little ones. We had great service with quick actions on request. We were a party of 6 and our food was very good. The sweet potatoes were a bit too sweet for me but the burgers and chicken sandwiches were very good. They had many options for beers and 2 for ciders. We were all able to get our drinks, food and have good conversations. Would come again!

Popped into Initiative Brewing one night this week while working in Madras. If you were wondering, the 45 minute drive is worth it. I usually go for a burger, but last night I took a chance on the special - a fried chicken sandwich with barbecue sauce and hot honey. I can never finish the fries that accompany my meal because I've already wolfed down a plate of kimchi fries before my meal gets there. The service was incredible and quick. We had the kindest server who seemed to genuinely care about his work. Initiative has a great list of cocktails, but I always opt for an old fashioned; this one featured Maker's Mark. I can't say when I'll find myself in Madras again, but when I do, I'll be hitting this place up again.

Great service and bartenders. Very friendly and accommodating. The beer is top notch and food first level. Comfortable seating inside and ample outside accommodations also. No matter what the weather is, this place will accommodate.

    AMERICAN BURGER French Fries

Got an order to go and when I opened the boxes at home I was shocked by the amount of fries. Charged $4 extra to have fries and got very few! Food over all was pretty darn good but if you want a filling portion go to Redmond Burger co.

Good customer service! Loved the sweet potato fries and fry sauce, portion sizes could be bigger for the price though.

Wasn't able to get a beer because they were out?!? However, the PB burger was decent. I still think Killer Burger was better.

It sits in an old storefront on what feels like a once-vibrant main street. The cozy colorful lights are welcoming. They have a larger outdoor seating area, but on the freezing cold night I visited, I opted for a seat at the small bar. There were large boisterous parties nearby, it was clearly a popular spot. The beer selection is large, with various serving sizes. Flights of 4 are only $8 here. They also had a number of bottled and can selections, even some from other breweries. The bartender was very welcoming and friendly, as were other patrons so it ended up being a fun evening of beer and fun talk. If you're a beer fan, this is a must stop in Redmond. There are also other excellent breweries within walking distance.

They have a number of core staples, plus a bunch of small batch beers you can read about on the chalkboard near the door. The bartender was immediately friendly and welcoming; I said it was my first time there and she told me it's the oldest not-for-profit brewery in Oregon, donating all their post-bill/payroll profits to local charities. I was also here at lunch time and ordered maybe the best tuna melt I've ever had - rich, buttery, and delicious. They have lots of beers packaged to go as well. If you're doing the Bend Ale Trail, this is a fun stop and worth venturing to Redmond for if staying in Bend.

When I asked a friend about it later, he said he and his wife go there for dinner but had never been at lunch time. My buddy ordered the Grinder (essentially an Italian) and I ordered the Beef Sando (essentially their take on a French Dip). My buddy, who self-admittedly doesn't like focaccia, said the bread was awesome and sando in general really good. We both really enjoyed the fries, that were well seasoned in a savory and slightly sweet dusting. The abundance of fries was well appreciated as well. The beef sando was tasty and also a good portion. My only complaint was the thinly shaved beef was laid flat in layers instead of mounded on the sandwich (see pic). I hesitate to even say this, but it felt like I was eating Steak-umm. In general, the meal was good and filling. The service was good and value for price felt good.
