On a recent trip to Bend, the Ale Trail took us to new spots a little farther from downtown. One was this location of Cascade Lakes, a brewery I had only previously visited in Redmond. We decided to come here for lunch thanks to a big menu. On arrival it wasn't too busy, and we had fun choosing where we wanted to be. They have a merch shop inside, lots of tables of various sizes, and bar along the back wall. Plenty of free parking outside. We all ordered some beers from flights to pints. We had a bunch of appetizer selections that we all shared, loved the street corn dip. It's a nice option to have lunch and enjoy some beers in the area. read more

Damn it!! One of the things my friends and I looked forward to nearly every week was meeting here for Wednesday wing night for some wings and a Cpl beers. These were the best wings around. Big, meaty,lightly smoked. We all loved em!! Now they are the same NASTY , salty , pre -breaded SISCO wings that immediately turn into a salty soggy dishrag as soon as they are sauced. Sat outside on a nice day. Nice outside dining area, but our picnic table was creaking non-stop throughout the meal lol. I ordered the Atomic Burger with tots. The burger was just ok. The combo of bacon, pepper jack, jalapenos, and chipotle was what I wanted but the whole thing was under-seasoned. I couldn't actually taste the burger. Tots were good. Ok, back for another review, and I'm sad to say it's another 2. Two main issues here: 1. They're out of This IPA, one of their flagship beers, for the 2nd week in a row. 2. Service on a Friday at 5:00 was slow as hell. One bartender that I could see for a full house. People waiting for drinks at the bar. People waiting for drinks at the window. I had an open tab, but after standing there patiently for 10 minutes, we said screw it and left. I know it will get closed and have a tip assigned, but that was better than waiting any longer. Hire another server; your full house would seem to indicate that's possible. Going to be giving this place a miss for now; too many other places who have the basics figured out. read more

My husband is a big fan of Oregon State football and knowing that Cascade Lakes created a tailgate beer he had to have lunch there. No lines on a Wednesday for lunch so we sat ourselves at a booth. They offer your typical pub fare food and we opted for the Holy Grail brisket sandwich with onion rings and the Smash burger with sweet potato fries. The food came out fairly quickly and let's just say the onion ring and fries portion is insane! They really load it up! The smash burger was cooked perfectly, and dressed just the way I like it. The brisket sandwich was ok I've had better. It has chunks of brisket vs slab strips which made it a little hard to eat. The onion rings were 10 outta 10 dipped with ranch of course. The seating options were amazing, interior booths and tables, bar seating and an outdoor area that has just about everything. They even have rooftop seating! It was a beautiful sunny day so a great venue for enjoying a yummy meal in the sunshine. Our server was great and the place was clean! read more

Their weekly specials including Thursday called Thirst-Days include $8.00 6 packs and $8.00 growler fills! One of their best specials is Wing Wednesday where you get 10 wings for 12 bucks all day! They snapped my real ID in half, didn't apologize, and didn't comp the meal. They covered my beer after admitting their mistake, but then never gave my group service or checked in again after. Working at a place that serves alcohol in Oregon needs to be able to know what a real Oregon ID looks like. Extremely disappointed by the staff and how they handled this situation. My wife and I met a friend (the pastor who married us, actually) here for dinner, while in town on a weekend getaway. It was close to his house, relatively brand new, and he was eager to check it out. He made a wise choice. Seating options include the interior dining area, and two outdoor patios: one on the south side of the building, and another on the roof. Well-stocked with a sizeable selection of IPAs, ciders, pilsners, and other brewed and hopped on-tap options, as well as some select wines, a few craft cocktails, and a full bar for custom concoctions. The menu consists of mainly pub-faire favorites: a smash burger, a BLT/Club combo, fish and chips, pretzels, nachos and other shareable starters. I went with the smash burger, and my wife the falafel bowl, while our friend ordered the BLT Club, and between the three of us, a variety of different pints, a Solstice Sour, an Old Fashioned, and a braided soft pretzel to split. Everybody's entrée was hearty, robust, filling, delicious, and cooked correctly. Our servers were all on the startlingly young end (some of them just this side of puberty, it seemed), but they were all competent, friendly, communicative, and above all, timely and efficient. Cascade Lakes is the sort of casual, welcoming local establishment that may not win any awards for pushing the boundaries of haute cuisine, but what they do offer is solid, tasty, tavern-style stapes, stout stouts, plentiful pints, and most importantly, a convivial communal space to come together as a family, or as in our case, to reunite with old friends, catch up on old times, and share in new, good times. This is a well-designed pub. Spacious interior with a long bar and plenty of table, a large patio and their signature rooftop bar. I think it will do well. I was already a little discouraged when i called to place my order, because the first time i called to order take out, they put me on hold way too long. Food was not real good and it was pretty expensive. My shrimp tacos were soggy and should have been double shelled. My husband's falafel burger was super mushy. He couldn't even finish it. Worker was very nice when I called in to place an order, but once I got there she didn't have any change for me to pay with cash. It was approximately a half hour to an hour before closing. Went there on Saturday, set outside and after 10 min of no service went inside and was told no service out there had to order at bar. Super pissed after server just looked at us and didn't tell us. When I complained about not being told he said well don't come here then. Reminded me of why we stopped going to west side location before they closed. Roof top bar wasn't open either, on a Saturday. Honestly one of the more terrible meals we have had out in a while. The 2x2 presentation was odd, the pork belly was inedible and all the sauces they ask if you want, cost extra. The 2x2 also makes it seem like you get a dessert so when the server listed our three options we ordered the cobbler. I didn't realize you could mess up cobbler but it was one of the worst cobblers I've ever had. We asked if it came with ice cream and the server said she didn't realize it didn't so got us a scoop. Nothing was included and $12 later for the dessert that was not included safe to say it was a bust. Kids sliders were not bad. We met some friends here for dinner. Finding the restaurant was an adventure. There are two Cascade Lakes Pubs and our GPS insisted upon directing us to the other pub. Parking was easy. We found a parking space near the front door. We decided that the weather was nice enough to eat on the patio. We found a table for 6 that was shaded from the setting sun and out of the wind. The menu feels small; but, there seemed to be something for everyone. In general, everyone liked their menu choices. I was a bit disappointed in the brisket sandwich's small size; however, the generous pile of onion rings more than made up for the sandwich. Mac & Cheese lacked something; but, we could not identify exactly what was needed to make it excellent. We were so excited to try our new neighborhood brewery tonight. We are already big fans of Cascade Lakes Brewery but so happy to have a new restaurant option close by. I'm obsessed with nachos, and these did not disappoint! I love the queso Blanco sauce so much and they added a generous portion of pulled pork too. The rib sandwich was one of the best we've ever tried and literally licked our plates clean from this meal. The beer was fabulous as usual and the restaurant was nicely packed for a gorgeous Monday night during summer. 3.5* i Its nice to finally have a brewery on this side of town. They havent been open long, but it was really busy. I only had food and found the menu to have more than enough options. The pimiento hush puppies were better than expected. Crisp exterior, these babies were plopped on top of a marinara like sauce. 4/5 The nachos were small for the $19 price and was served in a bowl which made it hard to eat/ serve when sharing. We chose the pork on top and there was barely any meat. Two chunks perhaps. There were plenty of sauce on top which was nice at least but wished it had more cheese sauce and meat. Overall, I liked the flavor. 3/5 The ribs were tender and tasty, not sauced much which is fine with me. It almost tasted like the liqiid smoke though. The cornbread was unfortunately drier than expected and beans were undercooked. Maybe they should cook it with green chile and ham hock for flavor.. onion rings were alright. 3.5/5 Fish and chips: it came with two decent sized pieces of fish fried perfectly and the fish was flaky and tender. The thick potato wedge fries accompanying it was a bit dry.. As something considered "shareable" for $24, I was hoping the plate came with 3 pieces. Excellent food. Burgers can be tricky, but mine was cooked to perfection. They are repping for the health conscientious, as well- which is most appreciated! There were a several enticing vegan/veg options on the menu. The menu creation was careful and thoughtful, that was very obvious. Kudos to the culinary leaders! Don't expect the menu from the West side, totally different. Unfortunately, we had a less than stellar experience here. The service was great, the food, not so much. The babyback ribs seemed more like St. Louis style. They were tough and just barely over room temp. The beans were undercooked, and the corn bread was dry and not a good flavor. Took it home, not even honey butter could help it. I actually took the ribs home and cooked in the Instant Pot for 20 minutes on high pressure and then grilled. They were great after that, but I shouldn't have to pay $35 for ribs I have to cook myself. On the up side, everything deep fried was great...the onion rings, fries, pimento cheese balls. The Smash Burger needed pickles or some produce. We want them to succeed, but it will be quite some time before we try them again. read more

Probably the worst food I've had in Bend, in my 50 years here. I went in with my daughter & we ordered the fried mushrooms & zucchini. I have no idea what type of mushrooms were in there, but they were so overcooked that it didn't even matter. The zucchini....there were 4 pieces. 4. And, they had the texture of jarred baby food. I couldn't even pick them up because they imploded on contact. The server was lovely & comped them. I asked him not to, but he did. Bummed, cause we need a good place on the east side.
