Old Fashion pour, maybe a little light but drink was great. Bubbles, to the rim.

YELP Answer: Yes, of course good fun. Location: This is a watering hole, a really nice one in a new location for NWX or West Side of Bend. The GROVE is an open concept gathering place with many food options that you can bring into Waypoint or wherever you wish to sit. Indoor and excellent outdoor seating almost year round with fireplace... Bar: Great mixologists and drink menu, but you can just order old school as well. Quality of Pour: About average, measured but fair enough. Staff: Always very nice and helpful to customers who are lost ordering. Food Options: Not much in Waypoint itself (frozen Pizza because they have to offer food) but just steps away you have everything and anything you may want. Value: Yes it seems like it is worth it for an occasional fun afternoon or evening. It is not inexpensive that is for sure however there are few places in Bend that are more affordable... Rent is not cheap and good people are hard to find and keep so support Waypoint in you are visiting, you will have a good time.

I don't normally patronize establishments so close to their opening but since BBC is my favorite brewery in town, I thought I'd drop in to Waypoint on their second day. Foolishly, I imagined the less than ideal weather would keep the crowds down. Nope. So this is a preliminary review mostly to get the Yelp page going. I'll definitely be back once The Grove (the 'food hall' Waypoint anchors) is fully operational. Right now, it's not. The Left Coast Burger Company and Sunny's Carello spaces are still under construction. Carello does have their truck operating in the parking lot, though. - Fairly small space, made more so since the design incorporates an ADA ramp inside along one side of the room to account for the different levels (elevations) of the front and side doors. Given Waypoint is part of a new building, I find this inexplicable. The design could have gone any number of different directions that would have not required a ramp, or the ramp could have been outside where there's plenty of space. As it is, there aren't that many inside tables, and only a few small booths. Once they (presumably) move the high stools to the bar (they're now lined up along the side of the ramp), the floor space will be even more cramped. This is not a good design for inside bar patronage - it's really more of a taproom where you take your drink outside to the common area. There are two common areas - one indoors amongst the as-yet unopened food places, and the outside area immediately adjacent to Waypoint. Some of the outside area is covered, so it'll be good even if it rains. - Eight Bend Brewing Co beers on tap, plus a load of custom cocktails. I was initially disappointed that the beer list on the wall didn't have ABVs noted but they have that info on printed drink menus prolifically scattered about the room and bar. These lists will have to reprinted every time they update the drink menu though. Beer prices are $6 a pint (most of them). - Ordering is done at the register, not from whichever bartender happens to be nearby (and there were quite a few folks behind the bar - maybe ironing out protocols and such). A ticket is printed out for the bartenders to fill. The table I eventually sat down at (before moving to one of those high stools along the wall to avoid taking up one of the limited 4-tops all for myself - there really is no inside place for single patrons to park themselves otherwise) had a credit card receipt from the prior patrons, so I guess you can order more drinks from the roving busperson, or someone. If they do end up moving the stools so you can belly up to the bar, I imagine that protocol will change. Oh, and good luck navigating to the register if you actually do need to use the ADA ramp. - Space and ambiance is very much NWX. This is not an old school bar and not remotely similar to BBC's pub downtown, or any other Bend pub really Right now - A-OK! NWX can definitely use a place like this. Where's the next nearest taproom/pub? Broken Top Bottle Shop?

Amazing bar. Bar tender is fantastic. Some of the best handmade drinks around!

Don't be afraid to come here! Lots of food truck options which is cool. My friend and I each got zero proof cocktails. She got the sweet hemptation and liked it so much she got a second one. I got the funky cold Modena which was tart and tasty. And we got to see Miz Cracker from RuPaul's Drag Race!! So fun! The drag show was high energy and a great time.

The owners closed up shop downtown and created this new place on 2nd Street in Bend's Central District. It's now called Dogwood at the Pine Shed. Why Yelp won't create a new, distinct page for the Pine Shed is beyond me. That said, the Pine Shed is a fine place for drinks and food truck fare. The open, spacious 'shed' has plenty of varied seating surrounding a nice bar with quite a few tables outside on the patio. Mobility-challenged folks have choices too. For those worried about 2nd Street's reputation for sketchiness, don't be. Revitalization efforts by the city have transformed the area. At times of good weather, with the big doors open, the Pine Shed is quite a nice spot to relax. Cocktails were the raison d'etre for the former incarnation of Dogwood and that emphasis transfers here to the Pine Shed. I particularly like their versions of a margarita but the other cocktails are uniformly good too. The beer tap offerings are not so spectacular, however, with only four (and a cider). On one visit shortly after they opened for business, two beer taps were tapped out, which can be chalked up to growing pains. In any case, the Pine Shed can't be seriously regarded as a tap house in the style of the many others in Bend (On Tap, River's Place, Crosscut, The Lot, The Podski, Midtown Yacht Club, etc.). Come for the cocktails. They do offer low ABV and zero ABV drinks. At present, the food truck choices are abundant and pretty decent. Being trucks/carts, and thus mobile and prone to relocating themselves, I'll not list them here. Best to check the Pine Shed's webpage for current offerings and then go to the relevant Yelp page for reviews. Parking is street only, no parking lot. The city has completed construction on 2nd Street so there are more spots available than before.

Includes things like pho and a Nashville sandwich (what I ordered - it's decent, spicy, but won't displace any fond memories of Hattie B's in the South). What's missing is anything at all for vegetarians, except salad and a few fried snacks. A Beyond burger would be a great addition. As it is, my wife will definitely not come here. - Seating is much the same except with mostly six-seat high tops. I believe Cabin 22 had low tops. Mobility-challenged folks might have trouble finding a spot. The patio outside is nicer, although the proximity to 14th street might render it a bit noisy. The bar is much the same. - Good tap list with lots of choices, including local beer. - Prices are in line with what you'll find in Bend these days for food and drinks. - Service might be a bit wonky what with the 'order at the bar' signs on the tables. During our visit, the bartender immediately came over to take our order and frequently returned. It wasn't busy so that might not be the norm. Bend friendly service. - I mentioned mobility-challenged folks: what hasn't changed are the restrooms. If you're wheelchair bound, you're screwed. No way to even get into the restrooms with those really narrow doors. I would have hoped the new owners would fix that ADA failure. They're also too small for the size of the restaurant. Overall, four stars. Seems like a good hangout joint for most folks. I'd be interested if the menu changes from the soft opening offerings.
