Spork is awesome! We were driving through town on our way home to Cali and needed to get some late lunch, early dinner. We arrived around 230 on a Wednesday and were surprised how many people were coming and going. After our experience, we understand why. We got in the short, quick line and looked over the specials and menu while waiting. I ordered the heirloom salad (but got the macha salsa on the side because I'm wimpy) and the elote corn, both on the " very, very specials" board. Randy ordered the chicken tinga taco and the carnitas taco and an order of chips and salsa. Corina got the beef and broccoli which came with a side of Jasmine rice. Everything was delicious although Randy was missing a couple things: a spicier salsa and thinner chips. I thought they were fine but he is quite particular where chips and salsa are concerned. He enjoyed the tacos, loved that they were street tacos and thought the carnitas were a little more flavorful but both were good. My salad was fresh and flavorful, all the components (minus the spicy macha salsa) made it exactly what I was hoping for. The corn was buttery, creamy, flavorful. The best I've had. It's a whole piece of corn broken in half and slathered with all the goodness with some slaw, cotija and lime on the side. Corina's beef and broccoli was scrumptious. I don't normally enjoy that dish but this one was excellent. The meat was flavorful and not grisly and the broccoli was cooked perfectly, not mushy. It was a huge portion. After eating a piece of the corn, she's got beef broccoli leftovers. Randy also got a raspberry soda which was good, not super sweet, and Corina got the apple mint lemonade which was very good. Everyone was nice and helpful and the music was a good level, plenty of seating. Apparently some outside too. We absolutely are looking forward to going back. Food was probably a 4 by itself but the order system is weird which made the ambience chaotic. They make everyone order before seating first, which in theory would make the wait time shorter but in practice this didn't work because the same guy taking orders was the guy bartending at the front. Needs one guy serving drinks and answering questions about the menu, and one person taking orders. The food was Chinese fusion with Mexican influences and we got mala noodles, 1 shrimp taco, and fried chicken. I'm Chinese and my husband is Mexican, so in theory this place would be right up our alley. However the shrimp taco's tortilla was not made fresh which is is the whole point of the taco (the salsa and the tortilla). The chicken was decent but not spectacular. The mala noodle was good on flavor (kudos for keeping the "ma" part intact) and probably the best part of the meal, but the rice noodle needs to be cooked 1-2 minutes less. read more

Spork is special! I will get to the food but first let me tell you about the concept, which is pretty unique. They don't take reservations, which usually annoys me but here it works. When you get there you get in line, but this is no Chipotle (no shade on Chipotle). While you are in line, one of the staff will ask you what you want to drink and will bring it to you so this makes the line much more bearable - and we enjoyed the unique cocktails. Also, while you're on line you can people-watch, take in the cool decor, and decide from the enticing menu. Also, while you're on line, one of the staff will find out how many are in your party so they can start strategizing about where to seat you so you don't have to worry about scrambling for a table. When you get to the front, you order, and they give you a number and they seat you. The line can be long, but it moves, and as I mentioned, you may have a cocktail in your hand to help you get through it. Now to the food. It's a fusion of Asian and Mexican food, very unique offerings. The trouble will be deciding what to have so I recommend sharing if you're there with somebody else so you can try a lot of things. We had the peanut tomato curry with chicken, the spicy fried chicken, the side salad, and the pièce de résistance, which was the carnitas sandwich. Visiting Bend Oregon for the weekend brought us to Spork! This place has delicious food loaded with amazing flavors. Everything we had was absolutely delicious!! I had the Dan Dan noodles and once I started eating them I couldn't stop they were so good! When you get there get in line and they will come get your drink order and give you a menu, then you get to the register and place your order and they will take you to a table. The service was spot on and attentive but not over done. There is also a great drink, beer and mocktail menu that has tasty beverages! While I have been finding it hard to eat at Asian fusion with my new allergies but was delighted to be able to experience some of sporks menu. We had a few beers, curries, and steak salads yesterday for lunch and enjoyed them on their patio outside. While there wasn't much room to manoeuvre sesame or soy out of many dishes, I was able to enjoy the elote and the steak salad. Lauren and Kylie had the green curry with tofu and Yannick & Jacki made their own mods on the Thai steak salad as well. While we'd been very hangry coming into the situation, I can confidently say we all left smiling and very pleased. Really good asian fusion. I ordered the dan dan noodles. The dish was flavorful without being too spicy, and there was an ample amount of pork/green onions/peanuts/chili oil in each bite once mixed. I have thought about these noodles a couple times since then. Super yummy. Restaurant was packed during dinner time, but we got a booth after waiting in line around 15-20 minutes. Service was fast. The pandan flan was fun to try, it has a subtly sweet pandan flavor. A good dessert to split with a few people at the table. The overall ambiance was clean, lively, and well decorated. pretty good asian fusion spot. they have so many different types of asian foods, from chinese dan dan noodles, to korean fried chicken, to vietnamese like dishes. i think the experimental quality of the food warrants my four star rating. for instance, the lomo saltado had crisp potato sticks on top with roasted poatoes underneath in lieu of the traditional french fries. the dan dan noodles were good, kinda spicy and not as creamy as the traditional ones i've had back in the san gabriel valley in california. i would say - they're doing their own thing here as it's fusion, give it a fair try but understand that it's fusion. the vibe is very hipster here. feels like you're in los angeles silver lake but nah you're in a random little town in the middle of oregon lol. the pandan flan was good, but lacking in pandan flavor and wasn't even too green. i think it was too toned down and the vietnamese in me feels sad about that. :( read more

We visited spoke when we were in Bend, Oregon over the weekend and we're really glad we did. My wife had the tofu tacos and they looked absolutely delicious. I went with the tomato curry, and it was really good, and very filling. I ended up eating half and taking half with me. The grilled vegetables were definitely my favorite! They tasted so fresh, well grilled, and full of flavor, despite having no seasoning or anything like that. We were munching on grilled vegetables for a little while, wondering how they were just so good. The staff was very polite, knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. They definitely make everyone feel welcome. We're definitely coming back if we're in Bend again in the near future. read more

Arrived and checked into our hotel after 7pm. While looking on Yelp for a place to eat many of the restaurants were closed or closing soon. We chose Spork for its 9pm closing time but was so very glad we did. The Spicy Fried Chicken over Jasmine rice was excellent! I chose to have both the kimchi and the cucumber salad as my side. I really didn't think we'd get to sit but the staff works it out while you wait to order. At the cashier I asked if anything on the menu isn't spicy and he told me no, the whole menu is spicy. Wow. He said my only option was fried chicken with the sauce on the side. It was certainly an impressive gluten-free fried chicken but very plain without the sauce. The dude who took my order was SUPER helpful - since I had not eaten here before, I didn't know what was good. He provided recommendations based on his likes, popularity and portion size. We got ... forgot the name but it was a beef and broccoli with veggies - super good. And chilaquiles - holiday style (red a green sauce). Both were flavorful and hearty - very filling. Price was decent - I think it was less than $40 for both meals which, today, is great for two entrees. It was quick to come out - since it was take out and close to closing I waited in their seating area and they had water available for me - love that. On most of our visits to Bend we're usually on the hunt for new places or out-of-our-comfort zone menus, but somehow we always end up here for a meal. They just do everything up so well and the flavors are always unique, year after year. Came for happy hour this last time, and ordered up the wonderfully flavorful Mala Cauliflower app, which had a nice spicy kick, but alas, it was a hard pass on the garlic and chives cakes, which were flavorless and dense...and small. Our tacos though -- chicken tinga, carnitas and tofu -- hit the mark all around, and the service here is always tops -- they even bus your table. The vibe here is always super chill, and sophisticated, yet still laid back. I should take a star off for the Garlic cakes on this trip, but I've had so many good meals here over the years I'm thinking the occasional misstep shouldn't be dinged. read more

I came here on a Wednesday night around 8. It was actually pretty busy which was a little surprising since they were gonna be closing in an hour. You have to place your order at the counter and then they'll bring it out to you. Since I was done alone, it was kind of weird because there was no bar seating. I did opt to sit inside. I got the shrimp and pork belly, yellow curry and also the jardin de Puebla drink. My drink was OK, but I would've liked a little bit more tequila. Haha that's what she said. The shrimp and pork belly yellow curry was amazing. It was flavorful and delicious. I couldn't finish my whole meal so I ended up taking leftovers back with me to my Airbnb. They have containers near the water and silverware station inside. I'm not necessarily a fan of the set up here because I'm not sure how you can get more drinks once you're sitting down. It wasn't really a problem with me since I was dining alone. I just kind of think that having servers would make more sense in this restaurant. read more

Way too much potatoes and not enough meat. Spicy pork noodles 4/5 - great flavors/textures with the peanuts and fried shallots. There was also a good amount of ground pork patties. I liked how they gave you the sauce on the side so you can dip your noodles or just pour it on. spicy fried chicken 3/5 - great flavor and good crunch - but a bit too dry. Spork has a fun, funky vibe with a rotating, eclectic menu. It's definitely not your average spot and that's part of its charm. You order at the counter when you arrive, and they assign you a table. There's self-serve water, utensils, and to-go containers, which is super convenient especially since the portions are bigger than they look online. We had plenty of leftovers! For a party of 2, here's what we tried: Fried Shrimp & Fried Cheese Tacos: it came with salsa, lime, and radish. Not your traditional taco by any means, more of a fusion twist. It was just okay for us, nothing too memorable. Dan Dan Noodles: These had a great Szechuan tingle without being overwhelmingly spicy. It had rice noodles, ground beef and peanuts which gave it a nice balance of texture and flavor. Crispy Rice & Strawberry Salad: Super refreshing! The strawberries and mint were perfect for a warm day, and the bean sprouts and crispy rice added great crunch. It came pre-dressed with a nice tangy flavor and a lime wedge to brighten it up even more. Lomo Saltado: This one threw us off a bit. The flavor of the steak was spot on, but the dish was much soupier than expected, and the potatoes were mixed in with the sauce rather than served as French fries on the side. Still tasty, but definitely different from the traditional version. Came with a side of rice and a dollop of cream. Pandan Flan: this was the star of the show! The flan was denser than a typical Mexican or Filipino flan, it was almost like a pandan cheesecake. Unique and satisfying and the blackberries were a great touch. Overall, Spork is a great spot if you're in the mood for some fusion or globally inspired cuisines. Not every dish hit it out of the park for us, but the ones that did were outstanding and we appreciated the creativity and bold flavors. When you hike up prices, we are always told it is so you can still deliver the same quality food that made you famous. Or you can serve your classic Bahn Mi with two smalll pieces of pork fat on it. I've had countless orders of these over the years and you've cut back on quality, portion, volume and racked up prices to the point it is a sad shadow of your former classic. Don't go down the Bend food vendor excuse path, but here you are already serving expensive fat and bread sandwiches. read more

My Spicy Fried Chicken was delicious. The chicken was high-quality white meat, not gutty or fatty at all. It was served with a generous portion of cucumber salad. You can choose kimchee or cucumber salad as a side. The chicken had been tossed in the sauce but other than that, there was no sauce present. I asked the lady bringing food to tables if I could have more sauce. She cheerfully and promptly brought me a generous portion of sauce. This was an excellent experience. My partner ordered Chilaquiles. There's a choice of red or green sauce. The green sauce was flavorful. The dish was nice and juicy, with a generous amount of toppings. We ordered Mexican Coke (desirable because made with cane sugar instead of the usual corn syrup) and their homemade almond soda. The almond soda was pleasant but it didn't go well with our food. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the dessert we ordered, the Tres Leches Cake. Being from Miami, I've had Tres Leches Cake dozens of times and I've made it myself at home. Tres Leches translates as 3 Milks. The cake derives its name from the fact it is soaked in a sauce made from 3 different kinds of milk: evaporated, condensed, and cream or whole milk. This cake was bone dry! Do not call a cake a 3 Milk Cake when that is not what it is. I feel ripped off. Furthermore, the cake just was not good. It was flavorless and dry. All employees we encountered were super courteous. I love their self-service chilled water station. The bathroom and dining room were very clean. read more

The kimchi was just ok though, would pass next time since it was a little watery and not fermented long enough for $6. Family members had the nachos (yummm!! highly recommend), the yellow curry (very good, lots of veg), and broccoli beef (not super saucy but beef was nice and charred, also very good).
