While visiting Bend Oregon we decided to try Pho Viet & Cafe, because it was recommended by family and Yelp. Lots of parking spaces in front the restaurant and handicapped parking spaces. We were greeted and seated right away and they had a wide range of dishes and drinks to choose from. I had the special combination sandwich which I was surprised the size is way bigger than what normally is served and I could eat only half the sandwich. The pate and bbq pork meat was good the bbq pork meat was marinated with a great flavor. The sliced carrots & daikon vegetables normally is pickled, but this one didn't seemed pickled. Overall it was good. My wife had the tendon pho which she enjoyed broth, but didn't care for the type of noodles they used it was different from other pho restaurants. Solid choice of Pho, fo'sho Stopped in for a warm bowl of happy, and I left happy with the experience. Service was quick and extraordinarily polite and friendly. I started with the chicken potstickers, which I enjoyed, though I thought they were cooked a little bit much as they were quite hard but very tasty. The sauce that they provided with them didn't seem to fit exactly, but it wasn't a deterrent. I went with the meatball for, and it came out like you would expect. I would say that I was slightly disappointed with the amount of meatballs in the broth, which seemed to be two or three less than I would've expected, and they didn't provide much in the way of the bean sprouts or other accoutrement to add to it. I love, love this place! I'm not giving it a full 5 star review because I think they are the type of place where 5 stars would be underrating them. It's crazy to say that but I think there are little tiny improvements that can be made to make it better. First and foremost, food is excellent. The taste is very much more balanced and the flavors I'm used to with a good Vietnamese restaurant. It is not water down and I love every dish I've order so far. The Bahn Mi is my favorite so far right now. I ordered the special combo and it's a great size. The bread is chewy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The meat is grilled and seasoned well. The only thing I wish they could of had more of was the veggies. I love a Bahn Mi with lots of pickles veggies. Despite this, I will come back every lunch break for this sandwich!!!! I ate it so fast I didn't take a picture of it!!! The other favorite off of their Pho options is their Pho Ga, it's the chicken Pho. I don't normally go for this as my first option but becoming I wasn't feeling so well I wanted a chicken soup. It's Pho-nomenal!!! I would highly recommend this dish. Especially if you are trying Pho for the first time. It's one of the most flavorful Phos I've had in a long time. My disappointment with their take out orders is that the veggies are very sparing and I love that condiment in my soups. However, I also understand the overhead these types of things can cost. But I do wish that was given out with a better portion for takeout. It's my only negative reaction for this place. Everything else I love very much!! I've ordered different appetizers and everything has been delicious. No complaints with that at all. There are only a handful of Vietnamese restaurants in Bend. Pho Viet & Cafe was last on the list of pho places I wanted to try. There was no particular order I wanted to try them in, it's just how the cards fell. Pho Viet & Cafe has a large selection of items ranging from traditional pho, cold noodle dishes, and Hue-style Bun Bo Hue. They even have banh mi sandwiches which seemed on the very pricey side for my liking. What stood out were non-traditional pho dishes like duck and shrimp. I made a mental note to try those in the future. My daughter and I ordered two bowls of the standard pho dishes. Now, this is where things get confusing. I actually wasn't that crazy about my bowl. It came with tons of meats which I appreciate. They definitely give you your money's worth but the broth lacked flavor. My daughter liked her bowl so I didn't say anything. We took leftovers home and I reheated her portion later. I saved a little broth for myself to sip and it was fantastic. It was an excellent sip of broth and everything I expected from quality pho. That's the confusing part of this story because both our dishes came from the same pot of broth. At least, they should have. In any case, we got two different experiences. That simple decision on my part to save the extra broth for myself earned Pho Viet & Cafe an extra star. It was good and I definitely will be coming back. read more

We have so many restaurants and food carts to choose from so we make a point to try someplace different. we decided on Pho Viet for lunch and it did not disappoint.we started with a couple of drinks, mine was a strawberry boba. The service is actually very fast for big portions (3 soups = 10:30 minutes) Additionally, the servers are kind and they don't press you for your orders which is very good. The ambiance is quiet but I cannot say for sure because I went near closing but overall very quiet and cozy. I ordered the chicken pho which was so flavorful although a tad salty. There were six of us girlfriends celebrating one of our birthdays and they all enjoyed their pho dishes. If you want authentic Vietnamese food at an affordable price, Pho Viet is the place to go in Bend! Initially, the staff told us it would be a long wait, however, they ended up seating us very quickly and getting our meals over to us well before we expected them to arrive. It's a bit of a hole in the wall place (in a good way!) - the restaurant doesn't look fancy, but makes you feel like you're somewhere with authentic food. My friend and I are visiting from out of town and were in the mood for pho. From a quick search, this appeared to be the main place in Bend and had decent reviews. We went inside to order takeout. We were told it would be a 25-30 min wait. Seemed long considering it was only moderately busy (some tables were open). We were asked to wait in the car, even though the table we were sitting at had no one in line for it. When my friend went back in to get her food, the lady was pretty rude and thought she was trying to steal food when she asked for my order (by my name). We took the food back to our Airbnb. I got P3 and the packing was not great. The broth also wasn't that hot, and we only had a 3 min drive back from the restaurant. Aside from this, the taste was nothing special. Maybe because I live in chicago and we have a lot of good pho, but this really wasn't anything special. Not the worst I've had but definitely not the best. Meat was dry, broth was only okay. I've eaten here a couple times and service is just poor. You see the employees sitting on their phones instead of checking on you/refilling your waters. You have to go get someone for your check or you will just sit there.. waiting. Food is decent but I've gotten a hair in my food and my other experience I asked for no toppings in my pho and they still added them. When I sent it back, they just picked them out and there was still some in the broth. Not a care if you're allergic apparently. I'd suggest go somewhere else, it doesn't seem to carry the same experience since it has had new ownership or the once delightful food and environment. read more
