Between the exceptionally good food at Hook and Plow, a most pleasant hotel experience, and a memorable trip to the High Desert Museum; our trip to Bend turned out to be a pleasure instead of the miserableness I expected. We had the Steak Tartare, the Chef's Board, the Blackend Crabcake, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Bone-in Pork Chop. We each got the cheesecake for desert and split the other dishes. This was more than enough for the three of us and we left full, happy, and with three large to-go boxes. The flavors of the various dishes were amazing. While all the dishes were vvery good, the standouts to me were the steak Tartare, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Cheesecake.

Service was lovely - warm, friendly and attentive. Shout out to Logan for being great with my daughter as well. I ordered the lunch combo special and highly recommend - you can 2 items off a list of 5-6 for $18. I had the tempura battered fish tacos (2) and a cup of seafood chowder. Tacos were well portioned but still handheld and well seasoned. Chowder was delicious and the croutons were perfectly crunchy and buttery. My daughter had the kids fish and chips and the portion was excellent - fish to batter ratio was great and she loved the fries. The restaurant is clean, airy and well decorated. My daughter loved the cow print wallpaper in the restroom too. Highly recommend if you are in town, lovely meal.

The pasties were not as amazing as photos showed. Basque cheese cake didn't melt in the middle once cut and it should to be a true one. It might be better if it wasn't so warm inside the restaurant. Eating warm food when you also are already sweeting is not comfortable and takes away from the whole experience. Canned sodas also a negative. Was very hopeful it would be amazing and take me back to Portugal. They weren't very free with their jam and some of the staff weren't the nicest or most friendly.(I think some were related to the owner). All and all it was a disappointment. It wasn't bad though it also didn't take us on trip to flavor town and party in mouth amazing.

I got the cinnamon knot and my wife got the lemon twist. I really enjoyed the cinnamon knot it was very tasty and the cinnamon flavor was just right. The lemon twist was also good but it wasn't that nice lemon flavor you could taste a hint but very light. We lucked out and found street parking near by, only street parking available.

I got a veggie bahn mi since I was going on a hike later I needed to grab n go. It had a very tasty sauce and was on a fresh baguette..but it could've been crispier. I also had a delicious chocolate cookie which happened to be vegan but I wouldn't have guessed it . It was deeelish! We ate outside on the small tables that line the sidewalk. Not much to write home about but was happy to score a table since this place has a constant stream of people.
