I'm less high on their ordering model -- basically you input your preference on an iPad like touchscreen, grab a buzzer and sit down. There's basically no human contact in the transaction so I can't even comment on the 'service' aspect. It's like a McDonalds in that sense. The first time we stopped at The Grove Good Egg was already closed. So when we were in the area around 2, I had to stop by. Their sandwiches are so cute and delicious! I got two of their fried chicken sandwiches to share with the group. The slaw and sauce really make this sandwich and the bread (so soft and buttery!) really holds everything together. There was a 10 minute wait and I got to explore the rest of the vendors. They give you a buzzer so you know when it's ready. There are lots of tables inside and outside. Oh my gosh was this good! I love an egg sandwich but this is unlike any I've had before. For starters, this is served as "street food" so you kinda eat it like a hand-held burrito. The egg is surrounded by light and buttery Texas toast, scrambled and then topped with an amazing siracha mayo and chopped chives, there is also cheese. I had the avocado and egg version. Once we got it, the eggs were soft and fluffy, I loved the sauce, I was pleasantly surprised that the tater tots had more eggs and sauce on them and were super huge, and overall everything was delicious. Now, the less than 5 star part: we were visiting town, but I heard this place is a new addition to the grove. On a Sunday morning, bound to be busy and get busier, we didn't see much of a line at 9am for this place since it was an "order it yourself" kiosk. Great, I waited for 2 minutes and put my order in. There aren't any buzzers, but one worker was coming out and calling names so we figured it would be a bit but we'll hang around the window. I have a suspicion the kiosk was a double-edged sword. It got lots of orders but unfortunately I think there were more orders than the kitchen could handle. Our order of three things (2 sandwiches and tater tots) took at least 40 minutes. When we finally got our food, they were announcing new orders would take an hour. I think because they are new they are still working through the best operations for the business, but it was clear they were not quite equipped or ready to deal with a weekend rush. The wonderful people who brought us Dear Mom Cafe now have a breakfast sandwich outpost at The Grove. I've been twice and am excited to go back. Tried it. Just not practical. Also mistakes are pivotal at this early stage.. No plates. Ordered a bulgogi egg sandwich. But had 0 actual bulgogi flavor. Needs to be sweet and spicy for it to be bulgogi. But I received a dry burger patty with no flavor. A serious case of do not judge a book by its cover or looks can be deceiving etc. Local influencers have given this place more credit than they deserve. They are the definition of hype. That is why our initial intention was to wait for it to die down but it seems like it already has, there was no line or wait. The sandwiches are quite aesthetically pleasing but taste and quality aren't. My partner and I originally planned to get our favorite Thai spot next door but walked by and as I said it was quite dead so we immediately took that opportunity to try them out while for some reason they weren't busy. We should have took that as a sign. Like another review mentioned, they were out of most items so we were limited to the more breakfasty ones. But we were committed, breakfast at 2ish pm why not? I had the ham, partner had bacon and shared the cloud smoothie. All a hard pass. Bread was alright, egg not as advertised and not feeling the vibe on the sauces. Overall flavors didn't mix well.
