We came because they advertised the world cup "full volume" but instead they had the cup on mute and were blasting the stupid white house UFC match. we ended up leaving, and the white house match is blasting so loud we can still hear it clearly over at the commons. really a bummer because we came here specifically to watch the cup and were looking forward to hanging out for a bit. I'm always a sucker for a good sandwich, and this place delivered. Conveniently located between Wall Street and the nearby Mirror Pond area, it's an easy stop if you're walking around downtown Bend. The staff's hospitality stuck out right away; they were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially being my first visit. If you're in the mood for pastrami, the Malibu is the move. It's generously stacked with tender, flavorful pastrami, and the mayo and avocado add just the right amount of creaminess without overpowering the meat. Portions are solid, but I still went with the combo to grab a drink and chips. Inside, there are a few TVs if you're looking to catch a game, and outside there's a fire pit that would be especially nice on a cool evening. My husband ordered a sandwhich that said it had italian dressing. He ordered it no dressing. He doesnt like dressing or mayo on his sandwhiches. It arrived swimming in mayo and mustard. He took it back up to say he orderrd it with no dressing, and they said that all their sands come with mayo and mustard, apparently the north shore comes with dressing and a ton of mayo /mustard. So they offered him a fresh bun, but then doused it in a ton of mustard. There wasnt anneasy way to get the sauce off the first sandwhich that was made a d he couldnt easily get the large amount of mustard off the 2nd bun....it made a huge mess deconstructing the whole thing. I tried to tell them as leaving that thry are putting waaay too much sauce on their sandwhiches, and she just said that they make their sandwhiches that way.....very saucy. So, if you are reading this, hopefully this might help you. Meats and bread are average....maybe pulled pork or pastrami or blt would have bern better choices because the restaurant smelled good. But customer service needs improvement. If someone says no sauce or no dressing.... Perhaps ask "do you mean dry or do you still want mayo and mustard?" read more

The service was friendly, accommodating and fun ambiance in the back patio. We loved the creative serving trays of frisbees - such a cute idea. They adjusted my sandwich for gluten free wrap, offered vegan cheese and was very friendly at the counter like it was a joy we were there. It really makes a difference with the staff makes you feel so welcome and doesn't beat an eye when you need accommodations for food allergies. My Italian sandwich - was delicious. I had a less than desirable experience with a catering order from BHD a few years ago and have avoided them since that time. A friend suggested it yesterday, so I figured I would give it a try. Afterall, sandwich catering often means the sandwiches are not dressed in house and just served with little packets of mayo, mustard, etc. Most sandwiches are better when prepped as they were intended and served fresh I went with the Righteous Reuben, kind of a Reuben-Cuban mashup, two of my favs. Overall, it was a pretty tasty sandwich. My only modification was to omit the onions. The pastrami was decent, maybe a little dried out. I like a lot of Kraut and Thousand Island and could have used a little more, but the sandwich was probably more manageable to eat with the amount on the sandwich. The pleasant surprises were the pickles and mustard. Again, I love a Cuban, but didn't know how they would fit on a Reuben. The answer is, beautifully! Maybe it was just the right combo of flavors, but the mustard seemed to have a nice acidity to it, not your standard off the shelf mustard. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is the price. $12.50 for a Reuben!! Maybe it's because it's downtown and a tourist trap, but that seems too much to pay for a good sandwich, not a great one. Case in point, that's more than Primal Cuts charged for some of their sandos when they were making them and they were arguably the highest quality, best sandos in central Oregon! I 'll be back at some point, but I think there are better sando spots in town without the hassle of going downtown. read more

I relocated them inside the bread. Surfin' Cow: another good sandwich with a lot of tasty ingredients. As with the Bird, it could be packaged a bit better. I'm sensing a theme: too many ingredients stuffed between the bread. Tuna salad with spinach: decent salad Fast casual. Order at the counter, they'll bring the food to you. They have a small bar inside but even though I ordinarily like sitting at the bar in pubs, not so much here. Besides there being lots of better seats elsewhere in the restaurant, I've noticed the bar to be a bit littered with half full drink cups, which I surmise to be either employee drinks or they are super lax in clearing customer drinks. read more
